    My farm is just beautiful. I have owned it for 46 years and am proud as can be of its beauty and serenity. Welcome to our perfect outdoor haven, a beautiful 150 acre farm, providing an extraordinary escape from the hustle and bustle of our modern world. Two of our exclusive campsites are located on the banks of the Little Schuylkill River, with the world-renowned Hawk Mountain Sanctuary boarding on the other side of the river. The third site, has an open view of Hawk Mountain and the farm, to say nothing of the full sky view.. Our private, exclusive campsites, easily encompassing about 5 acres at each site and surrounded by the 150 acre farm, are designed to take advantage of the natural surroundings. Here you will find yourself off grid and alone with nature. Imagine yourself pitching your tent along the river or on the hill top, viewing countless birds of prey and all types of wildlife with no other folks around, except for your people. The location could not be better or more private. Our family for years have camped and played at these site, enjoying the river and night sounds. We are a working Christmas Tree farm as well. Truly private camping, not a commercial camp ground. Very few camping sites exist where you can just have your own space, but you may have it here. My family are stewards to this wonderful farm, and are thrilled to share it with you. We want you to chill and to find tranquility, to respect our sites and make memories that are treasured. Details: We will consider 1 night stays for weekdays, please contact for availability and pricing. We will also consider more than 8 campers. Please inquire! Because we are a tree farm, we cannot allow you to bring wood from other locations on to the farm. Wood is for sale here and we request a pre order so we can have it ready at your site. All sites have a picnic table, a Hawk Shadow Out House, water to wash things, a preparation table and a good bundle of kindling to start off your camping experience. There Is a shovel, cooking grates, log benches and a neat campfire ring. Potable water is available at the farm and you may refill when needed. Campsite #1 (Lean To Site) This site is along the river. It is private and lovely. You may park your car above the site and walk down to the river and camping area. Short, 50 yards, but a steepish walk. Pack in and out accordingly. Very private, lots of space. It is perfect. Campsite #2 (Dog Gone Site) This site is also along the river. It is private and has the same set up as site one. Park your car on top of hill and walk on down. It is a lovely spot. Walk is about 50 yards down a steep hill. Pack accordingly. Campsite #3 (High Site) Site 3 is above the river and looks over Hawk Mountain and the farm. It is private with beautiful views. Unreal full moon gazing............. Sunrise, Sunset, Moon rise, Bird watching, all very visible from this site. Car accessible, no walking to campsite required. At all sites, different seasons bring different activities. Spring: Kayaking, fishing and hiking. Summer: hiking, fishing in the pond, cooling off in the swim hole. Fall: raptor watching, hiking, biking plus fishing, (license required), in the Little Schuylkill. The nights are dark with star lit skies. We have a 1.5 acre bass pond on the farm for fishing, so bring your rod. Big bass in there!! Your camp site is surrounded by woods and forest, fields and trees. You are a two hour drive from center city Philadelphia and 2.5 hours from down town New York City. One hour from Harrisburg. What to do here? Plenty! Hiking! The heart of Amish Country is an hour drive. Biking, both country road and mountain. You need your own maps! Fishing in our beautiful river or on our pond! Cabela's in Hamburg is just 15 minutes down the road. But most of all to do here is to relax, fish, play in the river, walk and visit with your family and friends. There is plenty of local produce, we can give you directions to our local farm stands. Fresh butchers are not far away. Swap meets and antique auction houses are scattered around the area. Yes, you can drive to the area of the campsite, but no, you cannot drive down actual site at campsite #1 and #2. Parking at site 3, no walk required..     The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby.     Turtle Ridge farm is 35 acres of scenic beauty in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania. Secluded and private. Hiking and fishing available. Turtle Ridge Farms borders the Brandywine River and about 1,000 acres of woodland park. We try to be a unique host farm experience. We will have contactless check in available upon arrival. Campers will fill out the registration form on the front porch and then go to their site. A note about fishing. Fishing is available in the Brandywine River behind our farm, in Hibernia Park, at Springton Manor catch and release pond, and also at Chambers Lake in the park. 35-acre bucolic farm with goats, sheep, chickens and geese. Sites are near our one acre pond and each site has a fire pit. Our farm borders the 1,000-acre Hibernia Park with its historic mansion, extensive woodlands, hiking trails and along the beautiful Brandywine river. Lots of wooded areas, trails, rock outcroppings and beautiful scenery. The entrance to the park is through our farm gate near Site 2 and then down a trail. There is an indoor powder room with flushing toilet and sink for campers to use and a small camp shop. Wood is available for purchase. We are located 5 minutes from the hospital, 10 minutes from grocery stores, 30 minutes to Amish country and Longwood Gardens. Hopewell Furnace, St. Peter's village, Daniel Boone homestead, Historic Springton Manor, Marsh Creek Park and lake are all nearby.     Pitch your tent along Irish Creek under a canopy of Maples at Mystic Hollow. Irish Creek, which is a stream, is a tributary to the Schuylkill River. Site are a 5 minute walk from main house. The land is flat for walking to the camping area. A slight bit bumpy in a small area. I can manage just fine in flip flops but I did want to provide the information if anyone would be using a wheelchair. There is also a small bridge that goes over a small strip of wetlands. Fire rings are included. Tables can be provided. Just let us know ahead of time. I can haul your gear to your spot with tractor and wagon if needed. There is a port-a-potty close by. We are flexible with check-in and check-out times if we are not at full capacity. Just let us know ahead of time if you want to check in or out earlier or later. We allow dogs. They must be on leashes unless they are friendly and play well with others. You must clean up your dog's poop! No exceptions! We are 5 minutes from the Schuylkill River. 10 minutes from Ontelaunee Lake. 15 minutes from Blue Marsh. 15 minutes from the Appalacian Trail. Trail heads nearby would be Port Clinton, Hamburg, Bernville, Bethel, Blue Rocks, Kempton... 20 minutes from Hawk Mountain. We are an hour from Jim Thorpe. There are several wineries in the area including Long Trout Winery where wine is cool and hippy chicks rule! My favorite! Lots of wildlife in the area. Expect to hear owls, blue heron, cows, goats, chickens, horses, hawks, eagles, dogs, racoons and coyotes. There is a good chance of being visited by racoons at night if your food isn't stored away properly. Also, the deer may walk past in the middle of the night as well. We do also get wild turkey during different times of the year. Hiking, kayaking, tubing, fishing, mountain biking, bike trails, etc... all nearby. Sadly there are no fish in Irish Creek worth catching. The Crayfish are! As with any land situated along a water source, there is always a possibility of flooding. We flood maybe once a year, once every other year. If that should happen, we will assist in hauling gear. There is higher ground for tents to be set up if need be. There will also be rooms available to rent in the near future. Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions. 420 friendly. LGBTQ friendly. If you are coming from out of state: Pennsylvania has a quarantine order for untreated firewood entering the state to protect its forests from invasive species. Firewood must be kiln dried, heat treated, fumigated, or USDA certified to enter the state. However, commercially imported wood that has been heat-treated according to USDA regulations typically doesn't fall under these bans.

    We stayed at the moondance retreat site at Fairie Tale Farm over Memorial Day weekend for my husbands 30th birthday! It was our first camping trip in our new camper, and we couldn't have picked a better place. Susan is such a welcoming and attentive host. Met us at the front of her property, and lead us to our camp site. She provided dry wood and water at the site, and helped us get situated. We saw the most beautiful double rainbow that overlooked the most amazing view! Her horse Blue came to visit us as well as her pony. We took walks around her farm land while drinking our morning coffee, and sat down by her pond with the coolest adirondack chairs that overlooked her barn. Peace is what we experienced there from the moment we pulled in, until the moment we left. We are so grateful, and will defiantly be coming back again!

    Was a perfect weekend getaway! Our top of the jeep tent worked perfect. Campsite was clean, beautiful setting, level enough and well maintained. Was wonderful to meet Chris and his family - most gracious hosts. Enjoyed just relaxing and meandering through the woods and meadow on easy to follow trails. Loved finding the falls and appreciated the little bridge and steps down. Only con was little bit noisy and that was maybe due to holiday weekend. Lot of ATV or maybe dirt bike noise carried up through the canyon and Sunday shooting at the firing range. None of that under Chris’s control and wasn’t unbearable but it was unexpected. Saw deer and awoke to birds singing. Even heard an owl Saturday night which was super cool. Campsites are spaced to where you don’t hear one another with plenty of elbow room. Wish could have seen more of the river from the site but can’t complain about the lush foliage can we?? Overall loved it and shout out to Chris and his family for their hospitality and for all the work they have put in. Great people! Of note, there is a porta potty kinda centrally located for all the sites to access BUT just easier to find a secluded spot on your own without making that walk.

    My wife and I spent a wonderful Memorial Day weekend here. Leading up to the trip, Mel was responsive and helpful. When we arrived, the land was beautiful with every site sitting by the creekside. Mel helped us move our things in with her four wheeler making setup a breeze. She was attentive and friendly throughout the stay and we enjoyed every minute of our time there. We will definitely be back!

    We stayed at the Shelterwood site which was beautiful and well maintained. You have forest and meadow views which is a plus!! There’s a designated fire pit and a picnic table at the site and a super short walk away is a bathroom (porta potty). The site had everything we needed and Susan was super helpful showing us to our site and brining us extra firewood! The property is gorgeous and Susan is a wonderful host - would highly recommend a stay at one of the many sites listed.

    We loved it! Even our 13 year old pooch was exploring like a puppy again! We love isolation and this place (site 1) was ideal. We brought our pop up trailer and it felt like we had an “upstairs and a downstairs” with the tent site below. You are on a live Christmas tree farm which made the scenery that much prettier! Would totally come back!

    Mel took the time to warn us ahead of time that the campground was a little muddy from rain. When we got there, our site was fine but the ground getting there was soft. Mel had a four wheeler and a trailer and took the time to move our belongings to the campsite and made sure we had firewood, kindling, and the fire ring was dry. She was pleasureable and personable to talk to. She made sure we had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The site was well kept and beautiful and we had a very peaceful night sleeping by the stream. Great place to camp! Thanks, Mel!

    this was one of our favorite campsites we’ve seen! the space was so secluded & peaceful, it was everything we could’ve ever imagined. the host was so responsive, made sure we were in good hands, and was so accommodating for our spontaneous last minute trip!! (: we will 1000% be staying here again in the near future, and will be recommending it to anyone and everyone. we also stopped at the crows cupboard in the afternoon for coffee and pastries, and had the most lovely time there. the owner was so kind, genuine, and ensured we had everything we needed and more. thank you chris for a lovely time on your campsite! (: we look forward to visiting again soon!

    Ok, here's the deal: if you are looking for a place to just be in nature, get away from the noise, and have privacy - you need to book this spot immediately. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris & chatting with him a bit about his property. He's a lovely host, and very accommodating. The waterfall area alone is reason to book this site. No crowds. Just you (and your crew, if you prefer). I seriously felt like I was in a LOTR movie, frolicking around barefoot on the rocks. The land is gorgeous. The waterfall and stream are so relaxing. If you're seeking a private, secluded feeling - Pine Canopy is for you! Plenty of trees to hang hammocks on and you felt cozy in your own little corner of the woods. Plus, the compost toilet is super close (if that's a concern for you). The toilets were clean, which was cool. If you're wanting a more expansive view - then you've got to book the River Ridge site. FWIW, I have a Rav4 Hybrid that was fine going up the trail. I just made sure the conditions were ok, and Chris had done a great job of putting rocks down. It actually rained overnight so the trail was muddy and I made it down the path with no issue. Honestly the best part for me? My dog was able to roam free! She was so happy running around the property, free as could be, just like her wild self. It was awesome. 100 out of 10 // will absolutely book again // and tell all of my friends

    My friends and I had a great time camping here, the area is very clean and the bonus of having our own private bathroom makes the stay a lot more comfortable. There was a generous amount of non-potable water great for dish/hand washing and the tables available to use for cooking and eating meals. As always, fire pits are great to make memories at, so having plenty of fire wood on hand if needed was relieving. The mountainous views at site 3 are great to wake up to a cup of coffee in your tent! It’s a short walk to the river with the marked trail, just mind your manners with the nearby tent sites being used while passing through. Even though the weather wasn’t the greatest, my group had a great time here!

    We really enjoyed camping on Thomas' land. The view was beautiful looking out over the rushing river and we even saw a bald eagle a few times across the river. The campsite itself is a bit narrow, so keep that in mind if you have small children. But there was plenty of room for the three of us. The canvas tent and bed made for an excellent experience of being outside without sacrificing too many luxuries. And having an extra tent already set up for us was so helpful considering it was raining when we arrived. This camp site includes a large canopy, tables, silverware and dishes, and a well maintained grill. If you are looking to camp but don't want to pack half the kitchen, this site will have you covered.

    My group loved the Bullpine site! We were able to get all the way there with our cars. We set camp under the pines to protect from the forcasted rain but if wanted there was plenty of space to set up on the grassy area as well. We had enough space for two 10 person tents under the bullpines. The river was a short hike down. The fire ring and picnic table area was well set up . We loved to be tucked in at the end of the campground. It was a beautiful weekend

    Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Come join us in the beautiful forested landscape of Central Pennsylvania. Located a mere 20 miles south of Penn State University, we are surrounded by the many amenities Central PA has to offer. We are welcoming to LGBTQ+ campers as well as all ethnicities. Pitch a tent on a quiet site and drop a line into one of our two trout streams crossing the campground. Hang a hammock between two towering poplar trees surrounded by flowering rhododendron. Or pull up in your camper and relax before and after a Penn State Football game under the blue and white sky. On property we have bathrooms, hot showers, and a recreation hall with free ping pong, board games, and billiards. For a fee, we also have firewood, electricity, and a large event tent for rent. Campers must be less than 25 feet. Generators are not allowed. Music should not reach outside your own site after 9pm. There are no water hookups. Vehicle noise is audible from route 350, especially on Friday afternoons. Noise is diminished at sites further back from route 350. Our sites are wheelchair accessible, but the bathrooms and showers do have one step up into them.     Rustic tent sites and log cabins on nearly 400 acres nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. The property has been in our family since the late 1800's, initially operating as an ochre mill. We are near the historic town of Jim Thorpe, Whitewater Rafting Adventures, Hickory Run State Park, Lehigh Gorge State Park, Tuscarora State Park, and more. ***PLEASE READ BELOW AND READ EACH SITE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING*** - Our tent sites are rustic with NO electric or running water. Cabins have electric, but no indoor plumbing. Porta-Johns are available throughout the grounds. (Some sites are closer to port-a-johns than others.) We do not provide potable water or showers for tent campers but we allow responsible use of the stream for cleaning. Cabins have a rustic outdoor shower available May-October. Most sites are 100+ yards apart, but you may hear some noise carrying from neighboring sites. Please inquire for camper vans and pop ups. - FIREWOOD: Due to the threat of invasive pests, we do not allow firewood to be transported onto the grounds. We have firewood for sale for $7 per crate. You can pick and crate your wood at the wood pile on the grounds at your convenience. Please bring cash if possible or get in touch at the end of your stay to pay via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. -We have a variety of wildlife in the area, including BLACK BEARS. Please follow 'Leave No Trace' protocols and be mindful of trash and food throughout your stay. Keep your coolers in your vehicles and take garbage to the dumpster frequently. We have a dumpster available to you on the grounds. -Check in is contactless. Upon booking, you will receive directions to your site. **If you would like to stay for one night during the week or one night on a weekend during November-April, please get in touch and I can adjust the booking specifications.     The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience.     Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and is next to a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do. Pricing: We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 29 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 35 dollars. Any additional guests after five we charge 9.50 dollars per person. We allow up to 10 guests total.
