Campsite: We were inspired to make a campsite from having friends camp here with us on a whim. They suggested we have more people come up here to camp. They told us about Hipcamp and we looked into. Since then we have mowed, removed dead standing trees, built a privy, cleared brush, graded the site, cut firewood, and many more projects to enhance the site. We named the camp Esidarap. Can you tell what Esidarap backwoods is. Note: for the winter months we are closed, will reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months Description of camp: At this camp we only allow one group at a time for privacy. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres woods. We have a stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor shower/changing room, a charcoal cooking pit, level picnic table, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking can be difficult in sections, but there is great biking and running on the roads near the campsite that gets good shade in the warm summer weather. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails that are marked with fluorescent ribbon. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do. Pricing/Offers: *If people do not book the site within a few days of availability we may lower the price. So if you are unsure please click on the days you wish to camp and check the price. Also holidays are priced a little more like 4th of July, Memorial Day, and labor day We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 37 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 40 dollars. Any additional guests after five we charge 3 dollars per person. We allow up to 10 guests total. We have some available offers listed on our site that you may purchase when you book the site. These include ice water, and a set of cornhole you may rent. The water is 5 dollars and the cornhole is 3 dollars. For more information on these items please go to our Extras section. Things we ask: Extinguish camp fires that are unattended and to only make them in the designated fire pit/ BBQ pit, no noise past 9 o'clock, discharging of firearms and fireworks are prohibited, do not bring firewood (in order to prevent invasive bug spread), please keep your pets attended/on a leash, clean up after your pets, be respectful of wildlife (take memories leave only footprints), and have fun.

Great spot! Large clearing which was nice to have plenty of tent site options and space, and shade with woods and trails surrounding. Secluded but close enough to main roads to get around. We were very comfortable.

The campsite is clean, private, and well situated. You can start a fire and the wood is provided! There are plenty of trails to explore and the area is beautiful. There were a lot of planes, helicopters flying overheard for some reason during the day but at night it was pretty quiet.

This property is great. Went with my 3 and 5 year old and they had fun hiking the trails and seeing some wildlife (a deer and some toads). The outhouse was very well maintained and it was easy to find shade in the summer heat.

Great private location! Everything about this spot was on point: Firepit, picnic table, clean outhouse, kindling provided, easily foraged firewood. The space is large and open, allowing you to spread out if you want - would be great for larger groups. Some of the trails around the site were a bit too steep for my old dog but she had fun sniffing all the new smells around the campsite!

Very private and great host’s!
The campsite itself was great and very quiet and secluded. It’s conveniently located about 15 mins away from a city with a good amount of food/supplies selection. The Gettysburg battlefield is about 20 mins away and Hershey Park sits at about an hour. The host was extremely helpful and friendly!

Butterflies everywhere!
Such a peaceful, quiet setting. Tons of butterflies everywhere! Lots of room to spread out and a couple different tent sites to choose from. I went solo with my dog and felt very safe. We woke up to a couple deer by our tent at sunrise. Will definitely come back!

Great spot
Great private spot. Not to hard to get to either. Me and my wife had a wonderful night right next to the fire. Recommend for sure.

There were 2 tent sites which was nice to pitch our tent on. The outhouse was nice to have but, watch iut for the snake inside of it, best to bang on the door first before going lol ! My wife got surprised by it. Having a picnic table was nice. Someone moved the fire ring into the fire pit which was odd. It is close to Gettysburg national battleground, where we went for my first time and was really cool.

Great remote site
We loved staying at Esidarap Mountain! The trails around the campsite were great and perfect for the kids to go on adventures. We loved the fact that the site was remote and it was great for stargazing.

Camping on summer break
My friends and I had an amazing time camping here. There was plenty of space and the trails were fun to explore. When the sun went down the stargazing was great. I would definitely recommend this place. However there is very little shade during the day so make sure you bring a shade tent or something similar.

We already can't wait to come back next year! We loved the seclusion of this campsite more than anything. We experienced no major issues at all, including ticks or poison ivy. We were so busy with sight-seeing in Gettysburg and the sporting event that brought us to the area that we didn't spend a lot of leisure time here, but it was still the perfect base for us over several nights.

Perfect solo or with family!
I loved having the place to myself but will definitely be planning a return trip with friends. I wanted to be alone outside under the sky but I think a few of my quaintness would have truly appreciated the privy and the shower. The fact that there is some hiking on private land is awesome and having the choice for I've water and games makes it perfect for a group or family setting. The whole area is well thought it and the attention to detail, like the citronella candle and offer of bug spray is quite kind. There is kindling if you require it as well and plenty of places to sit around the fire. I loved my quick getaway and will be back for a longer stay at dinner point

Camping with 3 little kids!
We loved camping at Esidarap! It was a beautiful site and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Lots of trails for kids to run around and open space too for Frisbee and catch. The hosts were super quick to respond to our questions. The privy is a nice addition and was very clean. We will definitely be back!

Awesome quiet/remote place to stay!
This was our first time using hip camp and I have to say, Esidarap Mountain exceeded our expectations. As soon as we pulled up to the camp location, my wife and I both smiled at each other in agreement that we found a very nice place. There's no houses or people in sight, and has a beautiful view off the mountain. There was also a pretty nice outhouse stocked with toilet paper and was clean, a nicely built shower place to use a water bag to shower, picnic table, log seats, lots of wood to burn, hiking trails, kindiling box, and a metal hip camp box with a book to share your experience. It's a pretty big open spot and was perfect for setting up our yard games, and letting our two dogs run around. This place is set up very nice! The tent sites there look nice and level as well but we used our pop-up camper. There was a lot of room at this location but perfectly surrounded by woods. Our hosts offered to bring us water for the fire and asked us to contact them if we needed anything. We are already looking forward to planning another getaway there this summer. Thank you guys for a great weekend. We absolutely loved the property!

Huge Private Campsite
Our stay at Esidarap Mountain in mid-March was awesome. The campsite is huge and very private with plenty of space to play games/set up tents/sit around the campfire. The fire pit setup and picnic table were nice and convenient, too. The outdoor shower/changing room wasn’t set up for our visit, which was the only drawback.

Great private camping area
Great camping area! You get exactly what’s on the description. I loved the privacy and easy access. Doug and his wife were very kind and brought us some extra wood to help set up the fire pit. We had a great night out there. Next time I’ll go when the weather isn’t so cold and we can go out on the trails around.

HipCamp Photographer Review!
If you are looking for fabulous and PRIVATE star-gazing .. this is your place!! The wide open space provides for a killer view of the sky. We thoroughly enjoyed having the seclusion all to ourselves and the simplicity of the campsite. We thought the landscape could be maintained a bit better and maybe some solar lights leading you to the outhouse .. but other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others!

This spot is a great site tucked away on the top of a hilltop in rural PA! The outdoor shower is a plus in good weather and having water brought to the site was a huge help. I didn't get a chance to explore the trails but slept well under the stars.

Gr8!
We stayed @ esidarap mountain for 2 nites. The space was gr8. My favorite part was the corn holes. Talk about an action packed weekend (things got craaazy!) My second favorite part was the view. Pinks & purples & blues, hovering over a sea of green. 5 stars. We wanted to cry when the trip was over but found our faces grinning bc the memories were too gr8.

Was a nice location and very quiet. We had a great time. Wish the grass would have been mowed to help keep the bugs down. I wish I would have brought wood or tools to chop wood as there wasn’t much provided that was already chopped to manageable sizes. We loved that there was a hand broom in the out house to clean out all the cobwebs and dead bugs. I would recommend it as a nice site though. 👍

We arrived late due to traffic during our journey so it cut our stay a little short, didn't get to explore the trails as much as we wanted before night fell. Firewood was an easy task, just a (very) short walk. Outhouse was a great addition and the view of the sky at night is great. Got the ice water and man was it cold when we got there, super refreshing after the little loop we were able to hike. Got to learn some tree species, there's even a young persimmon tree. Tons of butterflys flying around. Definitely going to be staying here again in the future! Left a little pile of fire wood for the next lucky campers :)
