Come join us in the beautiful forested landscape of Central Pennsylvania. Located a mere 20 miles south of Penn State University, we are surrounded by the many amenities Central PA has to offer.
We are welcoming to LGBTQ+ campers as well as all ethnicities.
Pitch a tent on a quiet site and drop a line into one of our two trout streams crossing the campground. Hang a hammock between two towering poplar trees surrounded by flowering rhododendron. Or pull up in your camper and relax before and after a Penn State Football game under the blue and white sky. We have small, secluded sites to get away from it all, as well as conjoined sites to accommodate larger groups.
On property we have bathrooms, hot showers, and a recreation hall with free ping pong, board games, and billiards.
For a fee, we also have firewood, electricity, and a large event tent for rent.
Campers must be less than 24 feet.
Generators are not allowed.
Music should not reach outside your own site after 9pm.
There are no water hookups.
Vehicle noise is audible from route 350, especially on Friday afternoons.
Noise is diminished at sites further back from route 350.
Our sites are wheelchair accessible, but the bathrooms and showers do have one step up into them.
Walk to Snappy's 24-hour convenience store to use their free Wi-Fi, buy bags of ice, or to pickup snacks and a sub in the attached Snappy's Grille. An ice cream stand and restaurant are within walking distance.
We require a minimum two nights stay for the recognized holiday weekends for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

- Our tent sites are rustic with NO electric or running water. We allow responsible use of the stream for cleaning. Please bring along potable water. Cabins have electric, but no indoor plumbing. Porta-Johns are available throughout the grounds. Cabins have a rustic outdoor shower available MID May- MID October. Please inquire for camper vans and pop ups.
- FIREWOOD: We have firewood for sale for $7 per crate. You can pick and crate your wood at the wood pile on the grounds at your convenience. Please bring cash if possible or get in touch at the end of your stay to pay via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.
-We have a variety of wildlife in the area, including BLACK BEARS. Please follow 'Leave No Trace' protocols and be mindful of trash and food throughout your stay. Keep your coolers in your vehicles and take garbage to the dumpster frequently. We have a dumpster available to you on the grounds.
-Check in is contactless. Upon booking, you will receive directions to your site.
**If you would like to stay for one night during the week or one night on a weekend during November-April, please get in touch and I can adjust the booking specifications. Otherwise, weekends are typically a two night minimum mid May through October. Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend are a three night minimum.**

Located just outside of Parker, PA and 25 minutes from I-80, our campsite is very accessible, yet still very remote.
*For clarification; some reviewers have remarked that 4WD or lifted vehicles are need for site access. This is false. With 4 campsites on 75 acres, guests have ample privacy and space, with the freedom to roam this posted property that has no homes on it. Perched high above the Allegheny there are several spots to take in the wonderful views. There is also a waterfall with a 3’ deep pool below it. Great for splashing with kids or dogs, guests love exploring the creek bottom and making new discoveries. The more curious guests sometimes find the ruins of the original homestead, chimney and spring house that sit upstream. The property is teeming with wildlife. Birds and tree frogs will be the soundtrack of your visit, and often deer will be seen nosing along the outskirts of your site in the mornings and evenings. Turkey, bald eagles and even bear are occasionally spotted, so be prepared to secure your food and trash at night.
For those coming to disconnect, you have found the right place. But if cell service is needed, you will have enough for texts at all 4 sites, calls at 3 of 4 sites and good internet at 2 of 4 sites.
For those who seek an electrical outlet AND an EV charger, the Travelers site is for you, and included in the price.
Within a 15 minute drive of your campsite you can find The North Country Trail, Rails to Trails Trailheads and Boat Launches on the Allegheny River, Groceries, dining and beer.

All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night.
Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October.
In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.
The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience.
Contact us to coordinate for larger group bookings. Please note that a significant portion of county tax/fees and cancellation or change fees may be avoided by booking the base amount of people (4) and at a much later date adding extra guests. Guests NOT occupying canvas tent (lodging) and bringing their own tents should not be paying an occupancy tax but there is no provision for this in the app. We do not want our guests paying taxes -- that benefit no one but useless bureaucracy! Extra guests may be added the week before booking. Just let us know your plans through the app!

Twisted Oak Campsite: A medium-sized luxury private site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for maximum 8 guests with parking for 4 cars on site and has space for several tents. Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

The location could not be better or more private. Our family for years have camped and played at these site, enjoying the river and night sounds. We are a working Christmas Tree farm as well. Truly private camping, not a commercial camp ground. Very few camping sites exist where you can just have your own space, but you may have it here. Because we are a tree farm, we cannot allow you to bring wood from other locations on to the farm. Wood is for sale here and we request a pre order so we can have it ready at your site. You may purchase through Hipcamp or directly from us.
All sites have a picnic table, a Hawk Shadow Out House, water to wash things, a preparation table and a good bundle of kindling to start off your camping experience. There Is a shovel, cooking grates, log benches and a neat campfire ring. Potable water is available at the farm and you may refill when needed.

This site is along the river. It is private and lovely.
You may park your car above the site and walk down to the river and camping area. Short, 50 yards, but a steepish walk. Pack in and out accordingly.

This site is also along the river.
It is private and has the same set up as site one.
Park your car on top of hill and walk on down. It is a lovely spot. Walk is about 50 yards down a steep hill. Pack accordingly.
Campsite #3 (High Site)
Site 3 is above the river and looks over Hawk Mountain and the farm.
It is private with beautiful views. Unreal full moon gazing.............
Sunrise, Sunset, Moon rise, Bird watching, all very visible from this site.
Car accessible, no walking to campsite required.
At all sites, different seasons bring different activities. Spring: Kayaking, fishing and hiking. Summer: hiking, fishing in the pond, cooling off in the swim hole. Fall: raptor watching, hiking, biking plus fishing, (license required), in the Little Schuylkill. The nights are dark with star lit skies.
We have a 1.5 acre bass pond on the farm for fishing, so bring your rod. Big bass in there!!

For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall.
Description of camp:
This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service.
The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recommended.
Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and has a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do.
Pricing:
We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 29 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 35 dollars. Any additional guests after five we charge 9.50 dollars per person. We allow up to 10 guests total.
Rules:
Extinguish camp fires that are unattended and to only make them in the designated fire pit, no noise past 9 o'clock, discharging of firearms and fireworks are prohibited, do not bring firewood (to prevent invasive bug spread), keep your pets attended/on a leash, clean up after your pets, no cutting down trees or damaging wildlife.

We absolutely loved our time here! Fly fishing is steps away in the river. Our 11 year old daughter caught a fish! The site itself is peaceful and spacious. Jenn and Susan are communicative and available to answer any questions. We will definitely be back!!

We stayed in site #1 by the river and it was HEAVEN! We can't wait to go back. The site is beautiful and private and serene--an hour on Saturday we had several people who passed by on the river, but the rest of the time we were blessedly alone. We loved the set up--everything that we needed but still very rustic. Susan and Jenn were lovely & responsive.

We had a fantastic stay and would absolutely come back! The campsite was clean, spacious, and very well maintained. It was peaceful, private, and perfect for our family to relax over the holiday weekend.
Chris was friendly and easy to communicate with, making everything simple from start to finish. The little waterfall and swimming hole were a great bonus and one of our favorite parts of the stay.
If you're looking for a quiet, family-friendly getaway, we highly recommend this campsite. We can't wait to visit again!

Brookland is the most beautiful, private and refreshing camp and Jaquel, the host, is more than welcoming and provides all the information and communication one could ever want. Upon arrival the kitchen provides all of the amenities one could want and more. Once your down to the main landing, the pavilion is your personal outdoor studio, to stretch, gather, relax or even sleep. The stream provides a trickling soundtrack to soothe the soul and there is a small little swim hole is just big enough for a refreshing dip to cool off. This hidden gem is out in the country, but in the middle of many small towns to visit, so there are plenty of opportunities if you want to explore outside of camp. For us, spending the day sitting in the stream, cooking and enjoying the property was fulfilling as it was. One should note, that there is no cell service in this entire area, so be prepared to be off-line, which is exactly what my partner and I wanted! Jaquel and Brookland are the perfect example of what a Hipcamp experience should be and we're so happy we discovered this camp. We'll be back. Thanks Jaquel!

Highly highly recommend staying here!! The park is beautifully kept and really private. The swimming hole by the dam ruins was a perfect way to cool off after a hot day. Lots of wildlife, space to spread out at the campsite, and trails. Special shoutout to Alvie who manages the park and Hipcamp page, it was great to meet you and your passion for the park shines! Thanks a bunch, we had a great time!

We loved our time camping here. The view is beautiful! The camp site was clean, and it even had extra size grates for cooking over the fire if needed. My black lab loved the swimming hole the most! We also explored some of the trails on the property.

This was a terrific place to camp for primitive campers! The remains of the Austin Dam and the history of the town itself brought us to this destination and we plan on returning again. The park at the dam is kept nice clean and tidy. From the dam there are mowed paths to the campsites above and below. Freeman Run is a nice medium size stream to wade or sit in to keep cool. There are sites for RVs but as we tent camp we cant comment much on the hook ups there or extent of them. There is one restroom area at the dam with running water. The firewood we bought there burned well for us. All and all for primitive camping like we do I give it a 5 star rating out of 5. The only drawback a person or group may have is the road noise from 872 but its not a road that's used much so the traffic is sporadic and intermittent during peek travel hours. During the night we didn't hear any traffic at all.

It's beautiful at Fairview Farms. We've stayed there several times and all the RV sites are wonderful. Nice and private and so quiet. We have 4 dogs and they are welcomed! Bill and Erin and such nice hosts. We will definitely be back.

2 nights at The River's Edge
This place is a slice of heaven! I stayed here two nights with my girlfriend and we had an amazing, relaxing time, dipping in the river and watching the wildlife. Thomas set us up with everything we needed, the tent and bed were comfy, the commode was clean, and it was simply perfect. Will definitely take another trip there in the future!

My second trip here was perfect. Their proximity to Gettysburg was convenient, and the quiet, rural setting was relaxing after a day in the busy town. Our favorite parts were the cats roaming the farm, the chickens, and the clear view of the sky at night. We’ll be back next time.
