A Secluded Cabin With Horses
Gerard was very accommodating by splitting extra wood for me, taking me on a horse back ride with his fiancé Kim, and sharing his knowledge on horses. The cabin was quaint and humble. The animals, adorabley greeted me. You are close to a highway so you hear a few cars at night. The concept of this mini, home-made, cabin is nostalgic & oddly cozy. I'm very glad to of had this experience and am thankful for Jerry's hospitality.

Secluded cabin with horse is exactly what you get! It was absolutely amazing.. the cabin was the perfect size to get cozy in, the horses were so fun and loving, everything was truly awesome about Jerry’s place. We took the 5 hour horseback ride, definitely did not disappoint!!!

Camping with Animals!
I took my daughter here for her 10 year old birthday and we had a blast! We purchased the hour long trail ride and it was the best horse trail ride I have been on. Gerard took the time to teach my daughter about the horse, letting her help clean the horses hooves, brush, and get use to the horse in the arena. After the ride, we had a great camping experience and woke up to horses around our cabin. The horses are sweet and we spent the morning feeding them carrots and apples, petting them, and walking in the pasture with them. We took a fun hike to the old timey gas station and spent the rest of our morning with the goats, Petunia the pig, the rabbits and Guinea pigs, the dogs, and the rope swing. If you love animals, nature, and adventure this is the spot to be!

Hill top cabin on minifarm
We had so much fun camping on Gerard's land! And probably drastically improved our cardiovascular systems. My children LOVED his animals, we were led to our camp by Koda the Husky and greeted by a pot belly pig, and three horses (among many others!).

Recharge in the woods
Such a wonderful and peaceful place to unwind. The camp truly is secluded even though it’s a short walk through the pasture to get to. It rained during our stay and the cabin was buttoned up that even though it naturally got damp which can’t be avoided it stayed dry, no leaks. The covered porch area had a little table that made it perfect to wait out the rain, the tree coverage also helped it stay a bit dryer like a natural canopy. Gerard was very helpful and quick to respond with any of our questions or concerns. We did the horseback riding and even for beginners with little to no experience we had a great time. The horses were gentle and you could tell were well loved. Even for a night this will be at the top of our list for a get away and be able to recharge.

Rustic Cabin at the Friendly farm
One of the beat hosts out there. His hospitality is beyond excellent. He was friendly and has well behaved animals that are also very friendly so being around on the farm was a great time very relaxing. The cabin was rustic and very nice with every amenity that you could need especially with a wood stove. It thunderstormed night 2 and we were dry, cozy in the bunks with the wood stove burning away. Just don't forget a citronella candle for your nights stay and if you're over 6 foot you will have to watch your head for sure! My 4 year old was excited beyond belief to ride one of the horses he was a natural and Gerard was an knowledgeable trainer and has alot of skills at the reigns. Allowed my son to really learn something useful that will last a life time. Thank you for being our host!

Gerry and family were excellent hosts. It was so nice to be around farm animals again. It was extremely quiet and relaxing in the cabin. The wood stove kept us nice and cozy at night. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

We had a wonderful time! It is what it says it is...a cabin out in the woods of a pasture. The place is easy to find. Just like they says there is a walk to get to it. Rustic with amenities out towards the front. They supplied plenty of wood there were cots for the 4 of us. Great quiet place to relax

Farm Livin' is The Place for Me!
My family and I had a memorable and relaxing 3 day stay at Gerard's secluded rustic log cabin. Gerard is a warm and attentive host who ensured we had everything we needed. He loaned us sleeping bags and coats when the weather turned colder than we expected.
Sitting on the top of a hill surrounded by woods and a small working farm, this rustic log cabin has a wood stove, a wood bunk bed with no bedding and folding camp cots. The covered foyer has a little wood table and chairs, and there’s a picnic table and fire ring next to the cabin beneath the stars.
There’s no electricity or potable water at the cabin so make sure you bring flashlights and sufficient drinking water. (You can fill up your water jugs in the basement of the main house). We brought our dogs and found several ticks on them afterwards so if you bring your dogs, check them and yourself carefully after your trip.
There’s an outhouse with TP near the cabin but you will need to walk down the hill to access the shower and potable water in the basement of the main house. But taking a hot, soothing rain shower is well worth the effort!
The highlight of our trip was interacting with all the animals, especially the horses and goats. Gerard has significant knowledge and experience riding, showing, and caring for horses and other animals. The farm has several horses of various breeds, and one is a gorgeous and gentle Shire. All the horses and animals are friendly and adorable.
My daughter and I went on a two-hour horseback ride, and Gerard was patient and kind when my daughter was having some trouble controlling her horse. The horseback riding was a rare treat and made the trip all the more unforgettable! I had a hard time leaving Gerard’s farm, and will definitely be back!

Very nice little spot, definitely recommended. Gerard was very welcoming and then once he should me the spot and gave me firewood he left me alone!! The horses were a nice addition to the camping. In the morning a flock of about 12 turkeys came through my camp site and it was really a peaceful space. I recommended bringing a cart with large wheels to get all your camping gear to the top of the hill!

Amazing spot and host!
We had such a wonderful time at the secluded cabin! The horses were so friendly and amazing. They roam around and occasionally come up to the cabin area. It’s magical. There are a bunch of other animals on the farm too. Gerard was a wonderful host and taught us how to ride horses for the first time! Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some quality time with nature.

Perfect 1st Stop
I recently took a road trip with my 5 year old son. Our first stop was Gerard's "secluded cabin with horses". It was the perfect start to our week long excursion. Gerard was welcoming and a pleasure to meet. The site was perfect and exactly what we wanted. Private and isolated. Yet a stone throw from conveniences. - The rain shower head was relaxing and a delight. :0)
My son loved interacting with the farm animals. He also has not stopped talking about riding one of the horses. It was his first time riding a horse and I could not have asked for a better experience. I was hesitant when I originally planned our trip and thought my son might not feel comfortable around a horse. Gerard was wonderful and far exceeded my expectations.
I very much look forward to booking/visiting Gerard's "secluded cabin with horses" again.

The cabin was amazing! My son and I enjoyed every minute of our stay! Being rite in with the horses, goats, chickens, and pig made the experience one of a kind! Just bring plenty of carrots and apples!! I would definitely recommend staying with Gerard on his beautiful property!

secluded animal haven in the forest
My college friends and i were first time campers, and this camping trip was so wonderful. the 7-8 minute walk to the cabin from the car (including some delays due to animal petting) is so beautiful and i do appreciate how truly secluded it is. it was a little bit of a struggle when carrying our things on the incline (as we were first timers, we overpacked a little) but it was so worth it. there is a large clearing to lay out and see the stars/set up a tent. there is ample kindling around the site. the host Gerard is so kind and will take calls for questions and texted to make sure we were comfortable, and we felt very safe here. the access to the shower and bathroom is much appreciated. the animals were SO GREAT, the goat, cat, and ducks greeted us on our way in, the horses were kind and well behaved. they did come up to the cabin and sniff around our table looking for snacks and that was a lot of fun! i pet all of the animals a lot and none of the animals were aggressive or anything like that the entire time after sniffing my hand first, and this was my first time approaching animals like these. make sure to bring lanterns/flashlights for night time as the cabin itself does not have lanterns there (but it does provide places to hang lanterns), bug spray, and boots/shoes that are ok to walk through a little mud/horse poop. it was a perfect weekend.

The cabin was cute and perfect for a small group of two. Beautiful area, beautiful animals, and a beautiful time! Definitely booking again, and may be our go to camping spot! Most needs and comforts were thought of by the host in advance. The hill to climb is a bit steep but was worth every minute!

This was a great stay! I had a blast for a short 2 day winter camp. Gerard was an excellent host and answered any questions withing minutes. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the cabin to see he had added a door on it and a wood burner inside. Definitely wasn't a deal breaker for me because I enjoy primitive camping. It hit -1 the first night so the wood burner was a blessing! Walking to the cabin you go right through where the animals are and they are extremely friendly and would make a point to come visit you. When you get to the cabin it feels extremely remote and on the backside was some beautiful areas to hike. If you are looking for a primitive site to just relax this is your place and I strongly recommend it!
