From the rolling hills of Lancaster County, Chiques' Rock, the sculptured rock visible at the bottom of the Conewago Falls, the White Cliffs of Conoy, and the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail there is no shortage of adventure. Our campsite offers the combination of camping fun and an endless variety of river recreation and leisure.
Retreat to a spacious primitive river front camping sanctuary in the woodland setting, nestled under the trees, where privacy and seclusion create a relaxing family-friendly experience. Our campsite is first time camper or camping enthusiast friendly! Whether you are feeding the need for your family's adventure or looking to get back to nature and relax, River Rock Recreation campsite can accommodate your needs.
You will find yourself living a unique outdoor lifestyle during your stay at River Rock Adventures campsite. A private launch allows kayak, SUP, and other paddleboat access. Public boat launches near by that allow for trailer and boat access. Fish the river banks all day and night for the biggest catch or teach a new generation of fisherman the love of the sport. Hike or bike the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, explore all it has to offer on its 14 mile stretch from Falmouth to Columbia. You can even get the kids excited and involved by Geocaching on the way!

Secluded River View is a flat grassy space on the banks of the Conestoga River ideal for tent camping. Guests will enjoy 0.4 acre of grass to themselves surrounded by a creek, river and woods.
The site includes a fire ring, picnic table, hammock overlooking the river and swing for kids. A natural sandbar in the river provides a fun place for children to play, and explore (and throw rocks into the river as every kid seems to love to do). The river is normally slow enough to paddleboard, canoe, or kayak. Tubing is popular and there are several places that you can drive to and access upstream and float back to your campsite. Common fish species for fishing include bass, catfish and carp. It’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect with nature!
Firewood is available at the campsite for $5 per bundle.

The camping spot itself is so nice! The views are amazing! They even have the sweetest little sets of lights going from the driveway up to the camping spot.
Unfortunately, I got stuck trying to pull my camper up their street. But the host David was amazing and he went and got my camper and brought it all the way up to the campsite for me! I couldn't have asked for any more hospitality.!!

Tons of space to spread out along the river. Gorgeous property with tall trees and privacy. We were met with a bundle of firewood brought to us by our gracious host. The Adirondack chairs were very comfortable to sit around the large fire pit. I would definitely recommend this site for campers with simple needs. Peaceful and serene location behind the host’s house, not far from amenities. Pull up a chair and relax by the river.

This was an unbelievable spot. The scenery was gorgeous and the site was a dream- you’re at the top of a hill with stunning views but the clearing itself is flat and level with full hookup facilities, fire pit, picnic table and even trash & recycling bins onsite. We arrived after dark but David’s instructions were clear and the path is well defined with small solar lights that were bright enough to indicate the driveway but dim enough that we could still see all the stars at night. We loved visiting the dairy farm down the road and watching the birds in the trees surrounding the site. It felt like a private piece of paradise. Thank you for sharing your land with us!

Everything was clean and well maintained. Loved the wooden platforms, string of lights, fire pit. Unexpected bonus was some firewood and two hammocks already set up. Gorgeous view of the river and so convenient to the bike trail. Check in was a breeze. Note: As an active freight rail line goes alongside the bike trail and river, do expect train whistles and noise several times a night.

Wonderful property and host! We had a fabulous stay for a long weekend and loved the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. David was very informative with his directions and was so welcoming. We loved having electric and water on site and the campsite was very clean and having trash bins was a nice touch. We enjoyed watching the hot air balloons and the location was convenient to visit local breweries and Valley Forge Historical Park. We will definitely be back!

This was our second time at Camp Douglass. My best friend and I loved it so much the first trip, we couldn’t wait to bring the kids! Shane works hard on this property, and it shows. There were upgrades even since May when we were there. We booked a weekend already for next summer. We will come prepared with floats for the river. This trip the kids and dogs were able to walk over to the island and down the river. We had coffee with a beautiful view every morning. My friend and I agree, we’ve found one of our happy places!

This might be the most beautiful HipCamp spot I’ve stayed at so far! It’s secluded but also nicely centrally located! Having a full hookup was also so nice, the sewage connection was a tad higher than my RV connection so it took a little longer when we did dump but so convenient nonetheless! I’d 100% stay again!

We loved every minute of camping at Camp Douglass! The view out over the river is amazing and the water near the shore is shallow and perfect for kids to play in. The campsite itself is flat and clean with a perfect spot for a hammock and there is a shed full of firewood nearby. Although the train didn’t bother us during the day it continued over night and was not overly loud but might not be great for light sleepers. The gravel road to get to the campsite was manageable for our Honda pilot and would be an easy walk if using the parking area. Over all it was great and we will definitely be back.

I’ll be back. The amount of space you get to yourself is unbeatable, and so perfect for pets. I hate being surrounded by people when I go camping. Gorgeous spot and extremely private. Yes there is a camp across the way but it was mostly quiet and my side was completely private! Nobody to bother me or my dog. Host was super responsive and polite. The map to the spot was perfect. The hammock, chairs, table, fire pit, and tree swing was a nice addition. You have to bring your own grate if you like to cook on them, but that’s personal preference. This might be my new go to local spot.
