If you look long enough, you may even see some shooting stars. The property is 93 acres and offers well manicured hiking trails that can even be used for Mountain Biking enthusiasts. Wild animals such as deer, raccoons, fox, owls, hawks, humming birds, bald eagles and more have made the land their home. Fireflies tend to take over in the summer months, its a beautiful thing to see. It's the perfect place to get away and enjoy nature all while being close to restaurants and downtown Olean if needed. Enjoy cooking on our rustic fire pits or light a fire to just enjoy the crackling sounds and warmth at night. A safe place for kids to run around, enjoy family time and the simple pleasures Mother Nature has to offer. It's perfect for anyone who just wants to get away and immerse themselves in the country. We have 2 camp sites ready right now both come with a fire pit. One is more secluded which is campsite #2 and the one with the valley view is campsite #1. Showers are seasonal. The last day for shower use is Oct 15th. You’re more than welcome to bring your own portable shower hook up and use the shower house for privacy. We apologize for any inconvenience. You will need to have a cigarette lighter access to use the shower to power the pump. We recommend bringing flashlights as our property is solar powered and there is no electric on the property. On low sunny days, solar lights may not last as long into the evening. On rainy days the property can be very muddy and access to the top of the hill to the sites would be best accessed with a 4WD vehicle as well as winter time with snow on the ground. If you'd like to charge your phone we advise you to bring back up battery packs as there is now electric hook ups on site. The most private sites are Cloud 9, Bunny Pit and Lilou's Landing. The cottage is located down by the main house and not at the top of the hill. Pets are welcome, please clean up after your dog. * No firearms or explosive devices of any kind are allowed on the property.

Towner's Country Paradise started out as a wild forest and pasture for cows in the 1940's, owned by Llewellyn Towner. In the 1960s, Llewellyn's love for aviation led him to construct a small airstrip and hangar, and then his son Terry began to plant Christmas Trees (no more cows) and clear much of the land. By the early 1970's our main and largest pond was built and since that time our fully functional cabin, several more fish ponds, roads, trails, running water and generated electricity have been added. Christmas Trees are still grown and harvested by Terry's son Scott Towner. These are beautiful wooded camping country sites with plant and wild life located just 10 miles from downtown Corning, New York. There is one rustic cabin available for rent, along with a teepee site, and 2 tent sites. We are between the Finger Lakes and the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, just 1 mile off highway 99/15. Sites are located less than a 400 yard hike from the parking area, each site having both a picnic table and fire ring. There is an outhouse located within 250 yards from all sites. There is river access one mile from camp. Campers that require help getting to a site, can be driven up the hill via side by side. Every site is connected to state land with over 2,700 acres worth of hiking trails. We have a number of mountain bikes, kayaks, canoes, snow shoes, tents, sleeping bags/mats, etc. available for rent on site. In addition, if guests are interested in classes on site, I am a wilderness and survival expert willing to offer assistance as a guide through the trails, on the river, with setting up camp, etc. Some of my survival classes include fire making, shelter building, edible food foraging, self defense training, and fishing and hunting.

On the property there is this one very large campsite (approx 100 square ft) for rent and our small cabin. If we are there at the same time as our guests, we share the outhouse and shower, but our guests have their own private picnic table, fire pit and grill on the far side of the property. The area is beautiful for paddling, floating, fishing, hiking, biking, rock skipping, dipping your toes, swimming hole gems, searching for waterfalls, writing retreats. There are hundreds of miles of hiking, mountain bike and ATV trails, and some of the best fishing and stargazing on the East Coast. There is a 62 mile -rails-to-trails that runs along the other side of Pine Creek from Wellsboro to Jersey Shore, PA. Our camp is located on a secluded hill - a relaxing oasis removed from the rest of the world - read a book in a hammock, build campfires, grill yummy food, let the kids run around like crazy, play a lot of cards. It a 2 minute walk from the property to public access to Pine Creek. It is a 45 minute drive to paddle the Western Branch of the Susquehanna near Lock Haven, PA.

Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

The southern section of the property ascends abruptly from 2050'-2250'. The northern range is less abrupt. ​ It has been my passion & a genuine labor of love to keep this environment as pristine as possible. My ultimate goal is to be able to provide a place for man to be nurtured, where nature & wildlife will thrive, always striving to keep the environment as pristine & serene as possible. Learn more about this land: Our property is located near the tiny village of Glen Hazel, our unique area offers close proximity to many watersports and hiking opportunities. Visitors can watch bald eagles and osprey as you enjoy kayaking, fishing and nature at this primitive campsite. We have just one site. Our campsite is very private and includes a fire ring, a picnic table a trash can and a swing. Parking is available right at the site. It's just a 2 minute walk to the northernmost kayak launch on the East Branch of the Clarion River. Here you will find a public porta potty for use during the summer only. Several small jack dams will make your kayak experience a delight. We have a private 1 acre pond just a stones throw from the campsite that visitors can enjoy. Fishing is permitted in the pond, no license needed. Fly fishermen will enjoy the thrill of catching native and stocked trout in the most beautiful section on the East Branch of the Clarion River (PA fishing license and trout stamp required). Nearby is Bendigo State Park that offers free use of picnic areas and swimming in an immaculately kept pool. Just 1 1/2 miles away is the Dam Inn where you can stop for a beer or for a nice dinner on the deck. Adjacent to the campsite is State Gamelands #25. This enormous tract of public land is open to all for hiking, biking and fishing the pristine native trout streams, including Middle Fork, Crooked Creek and several others. Only a 3 mile drive will land you at the East Branch Lake, a seven mile long lake where you can put your boat in and fish, kayak or water ski to your hearts content.

Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

Huge maple trees where a maple sugar shack was once on the property provides a wooded area by the stream where you can set up a tent or sleep in hammocks and listen to the stream. We are renovating a barn into a large beautiful house will be available soon. We provide a picnic table, and a fire ring. Fire wood available for additional fee. There could be two sites, one has electric and both have water. If you are camping together, contact me for additional information and fee for more than one RVs. Bring a water filter, water is safe but has the sulfur smell. A charcoal filter is recommended. The circular driveway provides easy access. Toy hauler or horse trailers welcome. ATV can get in the DCNR connector trail right from the driveway. Hunters are welcome to hunt the many acres of public land in the area. Not permitted on our property. There is wildlife including bear, deer and Turkey we often see ducks, eagles, gross beaks, and cardinals just to name a few. This is the place to come to park you RV and retreat to the creek in back of property if you want time to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. There may be other people on the property if we are there or if the house is rented. There is plenty of space for all.

Activities include: hiking, biking, snow shoeing, bird watching, wildlife observation, meditation, stargazing etc. We currently offer 2 cabins, a cottage, 3 tent sites (1 is fully furnished). The cabins, cottage, tent sites & trails are very private and secluded. Each site has its own private entrance. There is approximately 10 miles of professionally groomed, maintained trails for guests to share for recreational purposes. The trails are marked and 10-15' wide. They range in difficulty. The southern section of the property ascends abruptly from 2050'-2250'. The northern range is less abrupt. ​ It has been my passion & a genuine labor of love to keep this environment as pristine as possible. My ultimate goal is to be able to provide a place for man to be nurtured, where nature & wildlife will thrive, always striving to keep the environment as pristine & serene as possible. Great spot! Directions that were sent were perfect. Sites were clearly marked, which was really appreciated since we pulled in at night in the rain. Firewood was delivered to our site and under a tarp (again, super appreciated) We had a great stay. Secluded, we didn’t have to speak to anyone the whole 2 days we were there. Stars were beautiful at night. Also, had decent cell service, which I was surprised by. No frills, just nature.

Did some drive-up tent camping here with some friends in October and had a great time! We had site 8 which was nice and secluded with a wonderful view of the autumn colors. Easy access to hikes to the old paper mill and Austin Dam right from our campsite. Porta-potty was right nearby and sparkly clean. And we had full cell service too (T-Mobile).

He told us about the events going on at the park and what to watch out for in terms of wildlife and also gave us great suggestions on where to hike. Camp site was very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend checking out the antique stores in the area, and Big Valley antiques 40 mins away, a true shoppers haven. Can't speak for the food in the area since I brought my own. But well worth the trip and will tell all my friends.

Named for its black cherry trees, Cherry Springs State Park offers a secluded retreat at the heart of Susquehannock State Forest. With access to the 85-mile Susquehannock Trail and miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding, and ATV trails, Cherry Springs is well equipped for outdoor adventures, but the real thrills happen after dark. Campers can check into the park’s rustic campground, where 30 non-electric sites each have a picnic table and fire ring. 

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. You can reserve campsites in advance via the Pennsylvania State Parks website. 
  2. Campsite reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance.
  3. Campsites can book up as fast, especially on summer and holiday weekends. Book your spot as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

When to go

Stargazers time their visit to Cherry Springs State Park for the biannual star parties (in June and September), but stargazing is fun any time of year. Pick a cloud-free night in spring or summer to spot the milky way or in fall and winter for possible aurora sightings. A late spring or early summer visit means the chance to admire the cherry blossoms, and Cherry Springs State Campground is open from the second Friday in April through the last weekend in October.

  • Cherry Springs State Park is in Susquehannock State Forest, about five miles from Patterson State Park or a 6-minute drive away.
  • There are no day-use or entrance fees for Pennsylvania state parks, but camping reservation fees apply. 
  • Facilities include an information kiosk, restrooms, picnic areas, a dump station, and a public phone. Cell phone service is limited to Verizon and T-mobile networks, but coverage is patchy. 
  • There are accessible campsites, restrooms, and picnic areas at Cherry Springs State Park.
