Visiting the Hocking Hills ? No interest in crowded campgrounds ? you have found 75 acres mostly wooded with trails. Close to and easy access from US 33 There are 4 primitive and secluded campsites around the property for tent camping. I can transport you and your gear to the remote sites. ATV's and Horses are also welcome on the property. Firewood will be provided for free and in abundant amount. The site on top of the hill is a very secluded and mowed crest of hill surrounded by dogwood trees and the invasive Autumn Olive bushes, making this the most desirable site for getting full body sun, and shade when wanted in complete privacy. The site above the rxrwinery.com is a secluded, mowed clearing in the mature woods, making this a preferred site for privacy, shade and easy access to the winery. There are also 2 sites in the valley that allow you to be near your vehicle, one out in the open sun and near the driveway while the other is in the coolest spot on the property with a very nice rock formation to admire and secluded for privacy. While on my property, clothing is optional but respect for other campers is expected. Hiking the trails naked rarely encounters other people. Sunny Rest Skyview can accomodate an RV with no hookup, generator is allowed. This is a valley and may get soft after heavy rain. Please keep wheels near the lane if there's any question to the ground conditions and maneuvering your vehicle, please contact me. FIREWOOD and seasonal farm goods are available for purchase at a self-serve stand (several payment options available). There is also a wonderful sauna on the property that can be reserved (go to sauna to reserve a time).
Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound.
Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).
***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.

Your Tipi Stay
Spend the night in our spacious 22-foot tipi, thoughtfully placed to immerse you in the sights and sounds of the ranch. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen platform bed provided for your convenience. Guests should bring their own sleeping bags, linens, pillows, and blankets.
The tipi comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests—two on the provided queen bed, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses you bring. Cots are available to rent as an add-on. You’re also welcome to pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the surrounding trees, allowing space for up to 10 guests total.
The Ranch Experience
Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working ranch, home to plains bison, honeybees, chickens, and peafowl. We are proud to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat, Certified Firefly Habitat and Monarch Waystation.
Explore our scenic hiking trails that wind through rolling hills, wildflowers, and native grasses. Nature lovers will delight in the abundance of birds, butterflies, and wildlife throughout the property. After your hike, cool off in the clear, pristine creek bordering the ranch (water shoes recommended).
As evening settles in, enjoy a wood-fired meal prepared over your private fire pit/grill, then watch the sunset paint the valley in golden light. Fall asleep to the call of hoot owls, and wake to the soft morning glow filtering through the tipi’s beautifully painted translucent cover.

Our campground area is not secluded and is situated along a secondary state route, which makes it easy to find and navigate. While guests may notice daytime traffic, the area is generally quiet overnight and well‑suited for active visitors who plan to spend their days exploring and return to rest in the evening.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm—visit our friendly goat, walk down to the river for fishing, pick seasonal fruit (blackberries ripen in late summer), or hike the surrounding hills and woodlands. Informal walking paths are available, with additional trails planned as the farm continues to evolve.

Welcoming clean spots. Friendly campers. We had a great fire and good rest here! The hike to the lake was fun but we didn’t try the kayaks. Showers were great. WiFi was reliable. Everything was really clean.

Pop's Place is a great place to stay! I car camped in one of the tent/RV sites and added on a bundle of firewood, which was very generous and thoughtfully placed at my site before I arrived. While my spot was next to the road, there was very little car traffic after 10 PM.
The property is extremely well maintained, and Ed and Michelle are just delightful people—so welcoming and friendly. The portable toilet and outdoor shower were absolutely spotless, and I loved the cute little touches in the décor.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Pop's Place to anyone looking for a peaceful, well-kept place to camp!

The Bear Cabin was superb. Very comfortable, they had already set the AC before we got there. They had firewood available, if we wanted it.
This is our second time here and the owners are amazingly friendly and helpful.

Aimee’s place really was a hidden gem in southern Ohio. I would have never known how beautiful it was out there had I not stumbled upon her place. Site 2 was so secluded and we loved that also how peaceful it was there and being 15 minutes from paint creek state park was really nice too. Also her little pond was so cool to swim in, my wife, 6 year old and I absolutely had so much fun jumping in and swimming with the koi fish

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres
We had an amazing stay at Woody Acres. We stayed in the Hickory Hut while our friends stayed in the Peppermint Patty Wagon, and both accommodations were thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. From comfortable bedding and extra linens to cooking supplies, serving ware, and other little incidentals, it was clear the hosts put a lot of care into anticipating guests' needs.
The property is absolutely beautiful and truly feels like an immersive nature retreat. The nature-inspired décor is intentionally curated, with so many personal touches that make each space feel warm and unique. We also appreciated that Woody Acres is dog-friendly, making it easy to bring our pups along for the adventure.
Kate and Austin were wonderful hosts—kind, communicative, and available whenever we needed them while still giving guests plenty of privacy. One of the highlights of our trip was joining them for a plant identification walk. It was incredibly informative, engaging, and gave us an even greater appreciation for the property and the surrounding landscape.
The mowed walking trails throughout the property were perfect for exploring, and the beautifully landscaped sites offer plenty of privacy between campers. The outdoor composting toilet and shower were both very clean and only a short walk from our hut.
We also loved how close Woody Acres is to the Hocking Hills attractions, making it easy to enjoy the area's hiking options.

2 nights at Woody Acres
Awesome hipcamp! Location was super easy to find— maps took us right to the well-marked campsites. The Hickory Hut was adorable and well stocked with camping essentials should anyone forget to bring along matches, bug spray, etc. The outdoor shower and toilet were both clean and functional, and both were only a very short walk from the cabin. AC works well, and even on a toasty night the cabin stayed nice and cool in the evening. Thank you Kate and Austin (and Rubeus!) for a great stay!
Also, check out the pond if you have time. I braved a refreshing dip— highlight of the stay!

1 night at Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch Creekside Retreat
What a unique and incredible experience! Thank you Carie for the experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Our experience echoed that of the many positive reviews left before us. Carie truly did think of everything and we had everything we needed for our stay. We purchased some bison meat to take home and my son was excited that he got take home some peacock feathers as a souvenir. We hope to be back!

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
Fruitdale Farms is a wonderful, charming little plot of land in some truly beautiful country. I had no idea that just a short distance from Cincinnati was so scenic. The Cedar Sanctuary was really nice, and a perfect weekend getaway. Firewood and the selection of reasonably priced homemade goods were also a great addition.
