There is wildlife in the area so be sure food and trash are inside your RV or vehicle. Do not leave food or trash out as that will attract wildlife. Trash should be deposited in the garbage cans in the metal cage by the barrier gate. SO OBVIOUSLY - AS ALWAYS/EVERYWHERE -- DO NOT FEED WILDLIFE; AS THAT CAN ENDANGER YOU AND FUTURE CAMPERS. Low Meadow Farms (formerly Brown Bike Farms) is a serene four-acre meadow bordered by Burnett Creek. The campground is an easy distance to Downtown Knoxville and an even easier access to all that South Knox's Urban Wilderness has to offer. It uniquely offers a hint of backcountry camping without the 25-mile hike in. It is a great way to test the waters for primitive camping or an easy stop close to the city for a seasoned traveler. It is best suited for car camping, RVs, tent, and hammock camping. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each site with enough room for tents and RVs. Most sites have trees suitable for hammock camping all along the creek. There is potable water, firewood for sale, solar showers, and a bike wash stand all next to the covered communal area. Each standard site can accommodate 2 people to keep space between groups and lessen the impact on the land. Sites 10 and 13 can each accommodate 6 guests. If you have more in your group, we recommend reserving an adjoining campsite. Sites 1, 2 and 3 are off the main path to the left of the property, and still by the creek. Sites 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are all along the creek and gravel drive Site 10 is very private with creek access on three sides. Site 11 is private with creek access all along the front. Such a great spot! Absolutely beautiful drive in. The site is kept pristine. Fantastic to arrive after a long drive and have your own toilet and fire pit waiting for you! The solar lights around the site are perfect. Great solo trip. Brandy was super responsive to any questions. Will for sure be back!

Great spot tucked away in the middle of it all. The site is perfect for anyone wanting seclusion with the option to be in town within minutes. You can faintly hear the roars of Dollywood coasters. It rained every day we were there and the terrain didn't hold water. Big plus. We will return.

4 nights at Gatlinburg RV Campsite: Crofty Bear

This was a great spot for us. We spent 5 nights here and the campground was quiet and shaded with plenty of trees. They have trash pick up each day at your site, which is super handy. Full hookups and a large laundry room and nice clean shower houses. It is located not far from everything. We drove just down the street to the community center, parked our car for free and took the free shuttle into the hub of Gatlinburg. Don’t need to deal with the traffic or the parking. Also a short drive to Grotto Falls. Highly recommend! You need to stop by Sugarlands visiting center to get a parking pass and definitely pick up a trail map! They are $1 (map) but was super helpful. We did see a black bear walk by the camper next to ours! Didn’t see any on the trails though. Our visit was mid October. The strip is super busy on the weekends in October!

Not only as a campground, incredibly peaceful and clean, we were able to enjoy a hot shower. We’ve decided to stay another night due to some technical difficulties, and the managers of the property have been absolutely fantastic and more than helpful. I’m grateful we get to enjoy a fantastic view of the lake for an extra night!

Loved our stay with Andrew. The site is easy to get to (some winding roads but not bad), the setting is beautiful overlooking the river, and Andrew is a great host. We were there during a late Sept heat wave, so having full hookups meant we could run the AC for our little dog during the day, and the night time breezes were wonderful with the windows open. The sites are out in the open and close to each other, but we didn't mind at all. We would definitely recommend Andrew's sites!

This is literally a field at a quiet little horse farm, and it's exactly what I wanted. Its perfect if you like tent or truck camping. Its safe and secluded, no frills, close to town, and cheap. The bathroom and shower are built into the side of a shed and is mostly outdoors, but is still private and the water is hot. The shower stall could use a bit of cleaning but is serviceable. I will defiantly definitely return.

Ellis Cove offered us an amazing campsite! The campground is close to Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge, but it is remote enough to offer peace, quiet, and a sky full of stars. The area is clean and well -maintained and right on n the river. We plan to return next year with friends.

The stay was lovely! Views were exceptional and Steven was very kind and helpful. Our unmodified Rav4 with AWD handled the trail quite well, but expect it to be very rocky and steep. A good option for tent or hammock camping. The site was well secluded while still being just 20 minutes away from everything. I highly recommend taking out rain insurance for this site. The trail becomes unpassible by car with rain. But it's well worth the trouble.

It was very quiet. We were on site 5 the best in my opinion. We did not have pets this trip but they are welcome here. If you want a fire on your site you will need to bring a portable fire pit. They have a community one but we wanted to relax alone by the fire. The river was wonderful to cool off in. It is right off the road so there was some road noise but nothing bad.

Where to go

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Four of the nine developed campgrounds in the park are in Tennessee. Elkmont is the largest, with 220 sites. Open year-round, Cades Cove Campground borders wild meadows where turkey and bear strut their stuff. For more solitude, try Abrams Creek on the western fringes of the park. Cosby has 157 sites but still feels uncrowded.

Pigeon & Little Pigeon Rivers

Pigeon Forge is an ode to excess, but tranquility is easy to find thanks to the Little Pigeon River, which flows through the sprawl. Campgrounds with tent sites and RV sites hug its scenic banks. To escape the city scene completely, head east to campsites along the Pigeon River, which twists through the foothills of the Smokies. It's popular for inner tubing and rafting.

Wears Valley Road/Hwy 321 & Townsend

RV parks and campgrounds along Wears Valley Road between Pigeon Forge and Townsend feel remote, but the drive back to Pigeon Forge is fairly quick and convenient. Townsend campsites are close to the Little River and a short drive from the Cades Cove Loop Road.

When to go

Fans of wildflowers should pitch camp during the Wildflower Pilgrimage in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in late April. The city’s parade and festival season kicks off in spring too.
