Established in 1949, Sunnyvale Farm is a working family farm offering convenient, trail‑adjacent camping near some of Southeast Ohio’s best outdoor and university attractions. Located just minutes from the Bailey Mountain Bike Trail System, Ohio University, and the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, our sites provide an easy‑access base camp for RV travelers, cyclists, and guests eager to explore the region. The farm spans approximately 160 acres along the Hocking River, with a mix of open fields and forested hillsides. Our campground area is not secluded and is situated along a secondary state route, which makes it easy to find and navigate. While guests may notice daytime traffic, the area is generally quiet overnight and well‑suited for active visitors who plan to spend their days exploring and return to rest in the evening. Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm—visit our friendly goat, walk down to the river for fishing, pick seasonal fruit (blackberries ripen in late summer), or hike the surrounding hills and woodlands. Informal walking paths are available, with additional trails planned as the farm continues to evolve.

Great site- all the basic needs met. Electric and water hookup. Close to campus/ Athens. Was able to pull up next to a cement slab, which was great since it rained all weekend. Road was close but couldn’t hear traffic inside our camper. Well maintained spot. Definitely plan to come back a few times a year while kid is at OU!!

Great spot for the night, easy to get to with the Hip camp signs marking the spots. This was my first time staying and I wouldn't hesitate to book again if I'm in the area. Quick and easy drive to get to and from the OU campus.

A great campsite very close to Bailey’s mountain bike trail, which was our objective. The concrete area was perfect for campfires and socializing and the fire pit was perfect. Ed was super responsive, I’ll be camping here again

Salt creek is an excellent basecamp when visiting Athens, OU, Bailey’s, etc. Ed offers three RV or tent sites that each have a 30A RV shore power connection and water. The water pressure is excellent, but the well water in use is very hard and smells slightly metallic. Double filtering the water wasn’t sufficient to help with the taste, but otherwise it was awesome taking long showers after a day of MTB riding. The sites are adjacent to state route 13, so traffic noise during the day is a thing, but it’s not obnoxious. At night it’s quiet. He is close enough to Athens for easy reach by DoorDash. T-Mobile cellular service was excellent.

Ed was welcoming and kind and met us on arrival. The location was close to the Bailey's trail system, Stroud's Run State Park, and Hocking Hills. We tried and enjoyed the "Eclipse Company Store" for food and beer. We were permitted to spread out a bit as we were the only reservation our weekend, which was great. Some tips for future travelers: If you need wifi password or toilet, make sure to ask when you get there or in advance. The map looks like site #3 is set back off the road further than the other two sites, but they are all equally close to the road. There is shade at site #3 in the morning, and heavy direct sun in the evening, but we had a pop up tent with a sidewall that offered plenty of shade for us. Overall, Salt Creek is a great option for RV campers. His pull through lot, electricity, and water are rare among HipCamp locations. The location is not secluded/remote, as described in the listing, but it is convenient to the area's many tourist attractions in an area that is often sold out of campsites. Thank you for a great weekend!

I grabbed the tent site down the dirt road instead of the manicured one closer to the street. Ed was very responsive and welcoming. I had a tasty dinner at the Company Store nearby and went into Athens for breakfast.

This HipCamp is only 10 minutes from campus. It is a great option for visiting the college without having to pay crazy hotel prices! Also, the host is fabulous. This past weekend was so wet that our camper ended up getting a little stuck. Ed, the host, offered to let us leave it until it dries out or pull us out! He is so helpful and accommodating. Cannot recommend this option enough!

Peaceful night’s sleep and wonderful host. He was planting trees while we were there which will offer more privacy and sound dampening from road in the future - but we were not bothered by the cars driving by. We also enjoyed a short walk across to the Hocking River. We would definitely stay there again.

A great option when visiting student at Ohio University. The close proximity to campus makes it a great option versus cost and sold out status of hotels. Water, electric, and trash were all available. The help to answer any questions prior and getting setting up at arrival was appreciated.

We loved our stay at Salt Creek. Ed was very easy to communicate with and even greeted us upon arrival. Ed is very friendly and accommodating. The campsite is peaceful and very close to the OU campus. We enjoyed visiting Athens and Hocking Hills. Ed has electric and water hookups allowing for a smooth camper hookup. We were the only campers on-site. There are 2 more sites to rent. My only caution is if these 2 sites were rented, it could be crowded. Overall a very pleasant stay. We made lasting memories and appreciate Ed lending his land for this opportunity.

This place was exactly what we needed for a quick getaway near Bailey’s Bike Trails! The spot was level and no other campers while we were there. Ed was friendly and very accommodating. It is on a busy road, but I feel like we got used to that and it wasn’t a problem. There is a very quiet dead end side road adjacent to the camp site that we took several walks down which was nice. This spot is also super convenient to stop into Athens. Would absolutely stay again and would recommend!
