Campsite visitors have consistently praised the warm hospitality and accommodating nature of hosts Mitchell and Heather, making guests feel both welcomed and at ease. The site is set amidst picturesque corn and cattle fields, offering a peaceful and private experience with close encounters with nature and farm life, such as watching cows and spotting eagles. While the scent of the farm is noticeable, it doesn't intrude into campers' living spaces, adding authenticity to the rural setting. Access to amenities like electric and water is straightforward, and the location provides easy access to nearby attractions like Hershey and Amish country.

Awesome, and Private. Hosts were great. They will meet you on arrival after that they leave you to your privacy unless you need them. Tour of the farm was a plus. Great site and great people.

Loved our stay there! Such great hosts, and we really enjoyed the space and privacy. Our dogs loved running in the field, and everyone enjoyed watching the cows. This will be our new go-to spot for visiting Hershey - super easy to get the park, downtown, and PA Renn Faire.
(And yes, you can smell the farm but it isn't overwhelming, and the smell didn't get inside our camper. Plus, our hound dog loved it!)

Mitchell and Heather (and family) were the most wonderful of hosts. They met us the moment we pulled in and guided us right to the site. They offered a tour of the working farm for the next day but also left us to ourselves during our stay. The site was so quaint bordered by the cornfields on one side and the cattle fields on the other. The electric and water were conveniently located. Our hosts were gracious enough to invite us to stop in during their extended family corn shucking and cooking event. So friendly. We watched a bald eagle on top of their silo and deer run through the field. The location is close to Lancaster and Amish country and shopping. We will be returning in the future.

It’s a convenient location close to town. I was in town for climbing in the Chickees and Safe Harbor areas and this place was perfect for it.

Wonderful hosts and nice camp spot. They were extremely quick and responsive. I booked very late and last minute just about an hour before arriving late at night and the process could not have gone any smoother. Nice little corner tucked away and some of the more curious cows came to watch me setup camp!

Camping with Cows
28 ft travel trailer
The site was tucked between the corn field and cow pasture. A few of the cows would wander towards us with some curiosity, likely to make sure the shenanigans were kept in check. Mitchell and Heather were welcoming and helpful! Will definitely choose to stay here again.

Peaceful Country Getaway
13 ft travel trailer
Shelmar Acres was a very pleasant Hipcamp site located on a working farm. The site is private and peaceful, the perfect spot to unwind! Our hosts could not have been nicer or more helpful. Mitch took time out of his busy schedule to take us on a very interesting and educational tour of his farm. We will plan to come back with our trailer in the future. We definitely recommend this site to others.

My dog and I enjoyed the stay!
24 ft Class C · With pets
Another great stay! Plenty of firewood, peace and quiet, and beautiful fireflies in the field at night. The 30amp hookup is completely reliable; no problems for the entire stay. Full bars on T-Mobile my phone. My dog had a fun time walking around the site!

Amazing stay!
27 ft Class C
Mitchell and Heather’s land is so beautiful. They were very accommodating and kind. Mitchell helped me significantly when I first arrived and was very flustered and facing hardship with my children. They stayed in constant communication, yet also gave privacy. Perfect little spot with a beautiful view! Highly recommend and would love to come back sometime.

The site is lovely and secluded. The amenities (power and water) worked well. The hosts are incredible and respectful. One caveat—the farm smell is very strong. Not kind of— the site is next to a pasture. Most of your stuff will smell like it when you leave. This is a positive for many folks and we assume you can make your choice. We appreciate what these folks are doing and they are kind and trustworthy.

Excellent site. It’s rare to find a private site with 30 amp hookups, and the price was right. Great communication from the host, and the free firewood was an added bonus. Overall, a great experience, and this site is on my list for an upcoming stay!

Five star site on a beautiful farm
Tent · With pets
I positively ADORE this site. It gave me the thre things I wanted most - a spacious site, privacy, and not having to keep my dogs tied up every minute of the day. The site is enormous - I didn’t have the opportunity to measure it, but I estimate between ¼ and ⅓ of an acre. I was able to drive and turn around my car and large cargo trailer with my large tent already erected. It is triangular, bound on two sides by fields and the third by a cow pasture complete with said cows. This is a third-generation family farm - I briefly got to meet Harold, Mitchell’s father, who inherited the farm from HIS dad. I did not have a chance to interact with Heather, but Mitch was so helpful and patient. I had some personal issues with a very large camping tent that was poorly-made and was destroyed by high winds on my initial weekend and had to travel home to get my smaller more trustworthy setup. He constantly offered to help, and I felt assured that if I had really been desperate, help would have been there. The site is ringed by electrified cow fencing - if you have dogs, they might find it shocking - I know I did when i was erecting the flimsy tent that went blowing away like a tumble-weed and touched the fence and i grabbed a metal leg - it isnt painful, but you will definitely feel it. Note, though, this is an active farm - and it smells that way. I lived in Lancaster for many years, so to me, it smells like “home.” Not overpowering, but there.

Enjoyed the peacefulness of this active farm! Loved the birds and the cattle roaming. Loved the corn fields all around. They offered a private peaceful spot on their farm. Hosts gave a tour of their working farm that was very informative and educational. Great location to popular areas… including Hershey Pa. Host was very attentive to my needs. 100% recommend

Unwind on the countryside
21 ft campervan
We had the pleasure of camping on Shelmar Acres a truly special working farm. The site was both pleasant and picturesque, surrounded by stunning countryside views. What made the experience even more memorable was the warm hospitality of the family who runs the farm— they were incredibly welcoming and attentive to our needs. Highly recommended to anyone looking to unwind and get a glimpse of true farm life.
