Loved the site and how secluded it was! The river and flowers were beautiful!! Would definitely recommend! The Trail back to the sites is very muddy and the branches down the trail were pretty overgrown, my all wheel vehicle did get stuck but we were able to get it out. I’d definitely recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle if it’s been raining in the area recently! Overall would still most definitely visit again!!

Tent camping by the monocacy was terrific!! Quite difficult to get to the site because of extremely deep ruts and tons of mud. You will need a HIGH clearance 4 x 4 vehicle to make it. Otherwise it was fantastic!!

A Peaceful and Private Escape-Site5

This was my second time using Hipcamp, and I must say, Jon-Mikel’s land exceeded my expectations. Site Five was absolutely amazing! The property was secluded, peaceful, and provided a wonderful sense of privacy. There was plenty of space between the sites, and even though I noticed other campers at another site as I was leaving this morning, I never heard them during my stay. The grounds were a little muddy when I arrived, but that was completely understandable given the conditions. Jon-Mikel’s description and messages were very clear and even explained the importance of having the proper vehicle to access the property, which I did. I truly appreciated the detailed communication and preparation. I felt so peaceful during my entire stay and enjoyed every moment of it. Honestly, I wish I had booked two nights instead of just one! It was exactly the kind of quiet, private camping experience I was looking for. Thank you so much, Jon-Mikel, for sharing your beautiful land. I truly appreciate the experience and look forward to visiting again—hopefully next time with my family! ❤️🌿🏕️ Site Five was amazing, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful and secluded camping experience.

Overall a pretty bare bones site, which is fine but road maintenance to site was pretty bad, even with there warning and markings not great. Biggest disappointment was lack of river access. Stayed at Mr. Dennis that has private access to river, but was so overgrown with brush couldn’t make it more than 10 ft in. Other spots might be better.

I had site five, Ellie's Favorite. The site was very well maintained, cleared of growth and large limbs, etc. It was a large site and well shaded with a lot of big trees. I had one 6-person tent that fit perfectly on a flat spot. The site is big enough for two large tents, though one would probably be on a bit of a slope. The fire pit was cleaned and there were even makeshift marshmallow roasting sticks. The path to the river was also well maintained. Be warned, on this site, access to the river was very steep and there is a bit of a drop-off from land into the river. There are probably other sites with better river access. I had a great, relaxing weekend. It was quiet and peaceful.

We had a nice night camping at site #6, called Mr. Dennis. There’s plenty of space to park the car and then a separate large clearing under the trees with a fire ring to set up the tent. As other reviewers noted there was some road noise from route 15 on the other side of the river, but mostly what we heard were late summer insects and owls. The site was far enough from the others that although we could see their tents through the trees if we really looked for them, we had plenty of privacy. The location was easy to find and very convenient, just an hour from DC.

We enjoyed the option to fish so close even though recent storms made the water too murky and there were no fish biting. The sites are beautiful and fun to access. After storms, definitely have 4wd for awd! Its fun muddy!

This was our second time going to the site and just like last time it was a great experience. We had our dogs with us. The area was clear there was wood ready for a fire which we had overnight overall great experience and will return again.

Beautiful camping spot. Secluded and quiet the host was the nicest guy! Got another camper unstuck from some mud! Don't drive your normal 2 wheel drive car here. Bring the truck.

The campsite was exactly what we were looking for--secluded, peaceful, and pristine. The full moon made thr field and campsite magical! Just gtting there is tricky, to say the least if you don't have 4X4, which Jon warned us about in advance. The route was super muddy and some if the ruts were pretty deep. Highly recommend a car or truck with high clearance.

Great spot. Went after a rain and couldn’t imagine a 2WD getting thru. We stayed at spot 5 to be close to the river and fish. The highway was louder than expected but not much the owners can do.

It was a beautiful site! Getting through the creek itself was somewhat difficult with a lower car, but still made it through. The path to the river itself is not very clear, but there’s other ways to get down there. Plenty of fish for fishing! Unfortunately the river itself is quite dirty and not suitable for swimming it looked like, but that was the only downside. It was a very relaxing trip and would recommend this site to all!

Our group booked due to the location appearing to be well maintained & environmentally conscious. We were unable to access the water due to the abundance of overgrowth around the water, there was significant liter throughout the property and there's no way you'll get to the sites the main way without a large vehicle with a lot of ground clearance. A few days before our trip we were notified of a party on premise & fireworks to celebrate a graduation, we figured it would be no big deal as we all had already taken off work and booked the time to do this. The fire works were set off directly on the access road creating a hazard going to the bathroom and leaving the last night. We also noted 2 separate wolf spiders at the site. The place has potential, but we will not be returning.

Second time coming here. Very nice spot close to Baltimore and DC for a quick getaway. Super nice location. River would be great for fishing but not swimming as it is only about 3.5ft deep. The ruts on the road are pretty bad but with some skill its no issue. Overall great place to stay

Great site, dogs had a blast! AWD definitely recommended. Toilet NOT easily accessible, but nice option to have available which you wouldn’t have at other primitive sites. Bring LOTS of bug spray! Overall, we had a great time!

This was an easy destination to find and also a fun trip into the grounds where we camped. The grounds are well maintained. It’s very basic, but there is a very clean porta potty. That’s a short walk from any of the campsites, highly recommend. Also, we saw beaver, morning, doves, and deer and heard some fox..

Nice peaceful private spot by the river. Lots of bird activity! There’s a rough path through the grass down to the river bank. Caught a few smallmouth bass and a fallfish. Driving through the creek was fun, there are some decent ruts on the path but we had no issues crossing in a Subaru Outback.
