Mid-June update: Firefly season is here and it looks to be another good year, although we havent seen biblical numbers like the past years yet. Soon? Under next week's full moon?? The river is at about 85% peak summer quality this week. Very warm and ready for lounging, floating or kayaking. A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others. Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended. We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans 4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events. Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. I will credit unused wood with a nominal restocking fee.

This was such a great trip! We had to reschedule twice for weather and it was no problem. We came on a Sunday when few folks were there and Greg upgraded us to a site right next to the path to the water. (Site 8) we enjoyed the water and being on the C&O and definitely want to bring our bikes next time. A great place to take a group - lots of space and easy hosts. Provided great campfire wood and two camp cats to hang out with!

I love the campsite. I enjoyed being very close to the trail and walking the C&O. I enjoy being close to the Potomac River and going swimming. The porta potties were close. I paid for the shade sail and for firewood, totally worth it. Greg even brought us a lot of water. I would definitely go again. And I definitely recommend.

Taylors Landing exceeded our expectations. It sits alongside the beautiful Potomac which is amazing for paddleboarding. Theres also a 180 mile trail for hiking and biking. Greg was a great host and has a gem of a property. Highly recommend.

We had a great time camping at Taylor’s Landing. The campsite is really nice and being next to the river is a great perk. The river was great for swimming and cooling off during the hot summer weekend we experienced. Would definitely recommend this campsite.

My dog and I had the best time at this spot! Greg was a fantastic and attentive host. We ended up staying at site 11 on top of the hill which had a gorgeous view and was very easy to get in and out of. The property was also very easy to find using the address and directions Greg provides in the arrival instructions. We walked down to where the kayaks and water access point is, and walked the trail a bit. It was a rainy first night/morning but the second night we got to see a beautiful display of fireflies. The port-a-potty was also very clean and well maintained. We also took advantage of how close we were to wineries, breweries, and about a half hour drive to go explore Harper’s Ferry. I could not recommend this site enough!

We enjoyed our time and would love to come back. We stayed on Hill 2 and did not hear or see the group staying at Hill 1, also could not see or hear the campsites down by the river. It felt completely private. Greg was a great host and was very flexible with check-in. Special shout out to Greg's daughter who was great with our kids, showed them the cats and made us feel welcome.

Site set up nicely. Role swing over the Potomac was delightful. Greg’s daughter stopped by next morning to make sure we had everything we needed. Steep drive to get in, but our FWD van handled it just fine. Lovely stay.

Greg was a phenomenal host to such a gorgeous camping site. With plenty of things to do around site I was able to cave explore, swim and kayak on the river, and see amazing views all in one spot with my group. Not only that, but Greg provided water and help if needed at any point. For me especially, I loved how clean the bathrooms were. I can’t complain about anything, I totally recommend this site. Thank you Greg!

First of all, the site owner, Greg, and his family are exceptional at running the whole operation. They are good and honest people who work hard to share their slice of paradise. It was good and timely communication before and throughout the trip. Greg was kind enough to offer me some help with my fishing rod, which got me back in the river for 3 days. All camping reservation sites were spaced out so that other campers had good distance and privacy between sites. I highly recommend the shade sail, it did me good service in the afternoon sun. Just in time to kick back and watch a few deer grazing the fields when taking a break from the river. The quality of the firewood was excellent (kiln dried, which had a long burn time and put out a lot of heat. Better firewood than many sites I have been too in MD. The nearby trail system is great for walking, running, biking. The river has a sandy shallow edge where you can wade in deeper across small stones. It was a a safe depth and comfortable temperature when I was there (but that may vary a bit upon recent rainfall). It was a beautiful place to fish. A wide river, lined with huge trees, and high rock cliffs with birds of prey catching the air currents (saw a bald eagle among others birds). I saw someone pull a bass out of the deeper part of the river, and saw some catfish too. Sharpsburg is a nice little town, and Antietam is right around the corner. I strongly recommend both the campground and site #1. I’d visit again.

The campsite was nice and large. And the sail helped provide some shade from the sun. Greg and his daughter were very nice and accommodating. The only thing was my kids didn't like the heat from the afternoon sun as there wasn't a lot of tree cover.

We loved our campsite here! We were at site 1 which led straight to the path to the river, and was on the end with a good amount of privacy. The campsites were spread out very well, with a good amount of space for each site, with a fire pit and picnic table. We really appreciated the generous check in and check out hours during the weekend to make the most of our stay! The night was very quiet with not nearly as much noise from wildlife compared to other places I've camped. The host was very easy to get into contact with, and brought us potable water when we asked. We loved swimming and floating in the river. It felt very safe, calm, and clean, especially for it being part of the Potomac! We are already planning our next trip back!

So we arrived after a lot of rain so Greg had us stay on the hill. We had AWD and I think we could have made it but it was best for us to move, our ol’ suv (Benyta) had drove from southwest Michigan and she didn’t like the 95° weather with the slight elevation of the mountains. So my review would be more for hilltop than site 5! I would say the sunshade is ABSOLUTELY WORTH every penny! I originally didn’t request one so when we got switched site, it had the shade and boy did that make a ginormous difference. Provided shade as well as quite a bit drier in the morning from all that dew. We didn’t use as much of the wood than we thought and the amount compared to a lot of other places we have been or roadside stand, you get a decent amount of wood for the price! Greg and his daughter Elise checked on us everyday briefly to make sure we were good and even brought us a 5 gallon tank of water because there is no potable water at the land. We were in the area for wedding so we didn’t do as much exploring at the site but definitely would love to come back and check out the caves and river! Gorgeous views. Some friendly cats but be ware they have their claws and if you have little ones, they may scratch if you don’t leave them be. We have cats at home so this was not anything surprising but they are friendly and for the most part sweeties. Port a potties were clean. Very, very private and a great place to let loose and have a good time or take in the views and relax.
