Bald Eagle Farm has been in our family for three generations. Today two generations still live and operate the family farm. We once raised tobacco and cattle and have now converted to growing hay and grain. My family wants to share the views and the experience of sleeping under the stars on our beautiful secluded farm. You will hear nothing but the wind, birds, frogs and insects while you doze off or enjoy the dark sky and camp fire. We live on the farm so we are always here to help you out if needed. We can provide you with water from our deep well. We are here to make your stay as comfortable as possible and provide a restroom in the case of an "emergency". Recently named a finalist for 'Best Hipcamp in Maryland'! Thank you SO much for your support and we look forward to hosting you in 2022. There are three campsites on the farm, one by the pond and two by the river. Very secluded and all sites include , firepit, log bench, and a picnic table that seats 3-4 people. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE OUT FOR THE SEASON. The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river. Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching. My niece goes camping twice a year and I hijacked this fall trip. I selected Yates’ site because of the quiet and tranquil surrounding and we were not disappointed. Tucker, Yates’ cousin, met us at check-in with the sweetest dog. We found site 3 easily and setup went smoothly. Site 3 is shady and offers views of the Patuxent River and a nice swampy area below. Loved the sounds of birds, fox…night life. I wasn’t expecting all the Daddy Long Legs and various other spiders. Thank God my niece was there to save me, lol. We brought our own wood, but there was kindling/small branches at the site that we also took advantage of. We played it forward and left the same for the next camper. I would definitely stay here again, just not at Site 3. I think Site 1 is open without the abundance of trees and prayerfully less bugs.

2 nights at Bald Eagle Farm on the Patuxent

I stayed here with my two dogs and we had such a great time. It’s incredibly peaceful. No traffic noise, no people, just nature. Being able to let the dogs off leash without worrying was AMAZING. They ran around, swam, sniffed everything… they were living their best lives. We explored some of the local hiking spots during the day and did some fishing. At night the sky was unreal. You can actually see the stars and moon without any light pollution. We even saw the international space station. Super quiet at night too—just frogs and wind. Yates, the owner, was really nice. He told me ahead of time that his sons would be driving by early in the morning so I wouldn’t be surprised, which I appreciated. Other than that he totally gave us space and let us do our thing. Overall just a really relaxing, low-stress place to camp. If you want quiet, space, and a chill vibe (especially if you have dogs), this place is perfect. This is going to be my new go-to spot.

The view is beautiful. My pictures are amazing. Very quiet and peaceful. Close to the rivers edge. It did not rain, so I had no issues. However, flooding would be the only concern or negative. This is my favorite or number 1 campsite. This was my 5th camping trip. I would book again.

We had a great time here! The host was very kind and accommodating. She let us borrow her kayaks for the day to visit Mallow's Bay which was a total lifesaver! We only had our inflatable one and that would not have survived the shipwrecks. Unfortunately the pier has been damaged so we couldn't use it but it was still lovely staying right on the water.

My weekend at Donna’s site was nothing short of perfect—my wife, our dog, my parents, and I all had a fabulous time! From the moment we arrived, Donna shone as a super-host, attentive, warm, and remarkably thoughtful. When the rain made the ground slippery, she proactively brought us hay to ensure safety—something we truly appreciated. The site itself had all the comforts of home, which is rare in a camping setting. Hot showers, running water, and electricity were conveniently available, making our stay both cozy and hassle-free. Fishing was a real highlight: we caught plenty of fish, making for fun, satisfying afternoons. A small note: If you're arriving near high tide, just be mindful of where you pitch your tent. But honestly, that was the only minor challenge in what was otherwise a flawless 10/10 experience. Overall, Donna’s place offers a brilliant blend of outdoor charm and thoughtful amenities. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful, family-friendly getaway with excellent hosting.

I found it to be very pleasant, quiet, and a great view. The sunsets were beautiful. If you like seclusion this is a good place to go. The directions were very clear and spot on. Make sure you bring something for the bugs and mosquitos.

Nice property. Our dog loved it. Stayed at site # 4. Plenty of space on the grass to pitch a large tent and then a serene tree covered hang out with a picnic table and fire pit. We hung a couple hammocks for a relaxing area to read a book and take a nap. As other reviewers have mentioned, pay attention to the tide if you plan to make use of the dock.. there is not much water there at low tide. However at high tide there the water is plenty usable to kayak or paddle board.

This campsite was absolutely beautiful! The self check-in process was quick and easy, and we had no trouble following the map to our site, which had stunning water views. We brought inflatable kayaks and, while the water was a bit shallow during our stay, we were still able to get out and explore. We also enjoyed a lovely walk around the property and met some fellow campers, all of whom were very friendly. The water pump was simple to use, and we really appreciated that firewood was provided. One of the best parts was how well-spaced the campsites were—giving you the option to enjoy privacy and quiet whenever you wanted. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Gee, what can I say, this place is a little slice of paradise. If your looking for peace and quiet and seclusion you got it. The site is well maintained right down to the toilet.. We have a 16 ft camper and you will have to get yours turned around, , so keep that in mind You are right on the water and the only access would be through the marsh grass. Sunsets are amazing. There was a costal food warning out during our stay and parts or the site got soggy, something to keep in mind if your tent camping. We will be back 😀

Great campsite on the water, far enough away from the host’s house. Getting to the site on the path was a little tight with a Ford explorer, so my Tahoe would have been a bit of a struggle, but we made it work. It rained the 2 evenings we were there, but not enough for the water to rise into the campsite. Overall, we had a good time, and the host was very accommodating.

We give this site a million stars! What an incredible location! We were able to let our dogs off leash- there was no way to lose them, and we saw not another human soul the entire three night stay. The site is huge, the view is gorgeous, there is tons of shade, trees for hammocks and a slack line. The place is just perfect with a front row seat to the sunset every night. There is a picnic table, Adirondack chairs, fire pit, and a great outhouse, as you’ve probably read in other reviews. The only bummer was that we couldn’t find access to the water from the site. We had our kayak and paddle board but didn’t get a chance to use them. Nevertheless, WE WILL BE BACK!

The camping place is nice. Few spots to set up a tent. Most of the day all area has shade from the trees. Beautiful views of sunset next to the fire pit. Good access to water. Smallwood state park is 7 minutes away and great place to spend time on trails, if not there are few nice playgrounds for kids. Be prepared for pretty basic toilet set up. As well as the host and neighbor living in visible distance. The host is very hospitable and friendly. Communication was on point and timely.
