Weekend Trip to Conowingo Creek Campsite

We had a lovely fall weekend glamping on Gini’s land. The site is beautiful and well maintained and the tent is very comfortable and filled with everything you could want even for cold weather camping. Gini’s hospitality was also exceptional (going out of their way to provide extra blankets and hot water bottles to one of our party who camped in a tent), and the land is perfect to walk through. Our dogs enjoyed the freedom safely. Will definitely be back!

Excellent stay! Greg and Abbie were so welcoming and made sure I had everything and anything I could need (which was already there). Took my jeep up to the spot, the teepee style tent kept me dry in the rain, the cot was comfy, and having the couch was an added bonus. I appreciate not having to set up anything (my body wasn’t up for it). I loved feeding the goats and horse, petting the pony and pigs, seeing the chickens. Sunset was lovely. It was peaceful and just what I needed. Close to home, but far enough away. I will definitely be back!

Just had the most magical stay! The host was so friendly and helpful and the site and experience were exactly as advertised. My son and I got to feed all the animals (pigs, goats, horse, pony) and meet the sweetest kitten in the world. The site has everything you need for a cozy stay: clean water, a big fire pit, pans and a grill for cooking. And in the teepee there's a comfy couch for snuggling up before bed. Bring sleeping pads and prepare to snuggle up if you have more than 2 people! Site felt totally private and had a perfect view of the sunset. We had a delicious breakfast 10 minutes away at Two Birds Cafe and then spent the day at Longwood Gardens 15 minutes away. It was a 24-hour getaway that felt like pure heaven. We're definitely coming back.

We had a great time camping here. We arrived in the dark later than anticipated and Tom graciously met us when we arrived and took us to our site. Site 4 is up against the tree line a short walk from where you park next to the house. You aren’t deep in the woods but there is tree cover above you. You’re also set away from other sites, so it feels very private. The site is sort of in a hill, but it has a few spots that were flat enough for our tent. The site has a fire ring, picnic table with tablecloth, a few plastic lawn chairs, and a plastic end table. There are a couple of chicken coops as well as geese, goats, and sheep which were all fun to visit. There’s a small “camp store” (mudroom) attached to the house which is open 24/7 and is only a couple minute walk from the camp site. The bathroom is accessed from the mudroom. There is coffee, s’mores kits, and other camp necessities for sale if you forgot anything. There are carts available to get your gear to your site. There was plenty of deadfall wood around for the weekend,, but Tom brought some split wood straight to our campsite and we had a very nice chat. There is direct access to the Hibernia Park Rim Park Trail from Tom’s property and we had a great hike along it. Overall, we highly recommend this site.

Our experience with this farm was a bit different than most people’s stays, as we’re an organization that supported a family in need by placing our transitional housing camper here for 28 days. From the moment we arrived, Seth and Stephanie were incredibly warm and welcoming, giving the family the space and grace they needed to heal and transition during a difficult time. The farm was absolutely the perfect setting for this season of life. The open fields and natural views provided a peaceful, restorative environment that you simply can’t find in more traditional settings. There’s something deeply healing about being surrounded by nature and wide-open spaces. The kids were entertained watching the chickens, geese, turkeys, and sheep wandering about the property. These simple joys made such a meaningful difference during their stay and created sweet memories during a challenging transition. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone traveling through the area, but also to locals who want a new taste of their own community. This farm offered our family something truly special - a safe harbor and a chance to experience beauty and peace during a time they needed it most. Our horse farm is located in one of the most rural areas of Southern New Jersey. This land was once occupied by The Lanape Tribe. The adjacent creek was named after Chief Alloway. Artifacts of Native Americans have been found alongside this brackish water creek. This farm was for many years a dairy farm which was passed on for 3 generations until the late 80's. Our main horse breeds are 5 Arabians followed by 2 Thoroughbreds and 2 miniature ponies. In addition to horses you will see free range rabbits, chickens and beautiful cows. There are many antique shops in this area which tell the rich History of Southern NJ. Cowen mall and Royal Port are my two favorites. Another must see experience (at least once) in the area is The Cowtown Rodeo, one of the first and oldest in the country, only 14 minutes drive. We are located 5 minutes from the hospital, 10 minutes from grocery stores, 30 minutes to Amish country and Longwood Gardens. We purchased our dream homestead in 2020, and we would love to share it with others as we build it to become bountiful and as self-sustaining as possible. It is not in the middle of nowhere....it's in the middle of everywhere! Learn more about this land: Camp next to a peaceful trickling creek just outside Phoenixville and Kimberton. We are a suburban oasis, surrounded by a little bit of everything. Our homestead has plenty of activity including kids, dogs, and chickens, bees and goats! We have a fully wooded area available to explore across the creek, and weather dependent- the creek is a great place to stay cool. You'll see lots of growing fruit trees in our developing orchard and we are happy to share our vision for this beautiful land! We have two campsites available for you to choose between for your stay. Both sites are along the creek, however, one has a view of some nearby houses and is a short walk to the parking spot [Creekside]. The other site is more secluded, past the tree line, but a further walk from where you are able to park. [Hillside] If needed, we are happy to lend you a wagon to haul your gear. Please let us know if you have questions and your preference of site. We have a cabin-like bathroom and partial kitchen you will have access to during your stay. We always have cold water available for purchase in the fridge. There is trail access easily accessible from our home (the closest is approximately 1 mile), for paved or natural trail exploration. We are are a great stopping point for cyclists enjoying the area. It's a short drive to downtown Phoenixville with some of the best breweries around. Phoenixville is home to a great farmers market on Saturday mornings and numerous festivals. Also, close-by is the lovely quaint village of Kimberton, home of the best organic grocery store and many opportunities for hiking and small farms.

Drive to this Maryland state park 8 miles south of the town North East. Once you get here, it's an easy walk to the lighthouse, swimming area, and rustic cabins. Relax, breathe in the fresh air, and see majestic views of the Chesapeake Bay and Elk River. The name describes a peninsula that juts out into the bay where it meets the river.

Begin with a visit to Turkey Point Lighthouse. The historic structure, built in 1833, still lights the way for private watercraft. Volunteers give tours on the weekends, including walks to the top. The structure itself is only 35 feet tall. Turkey Point is the third-highest light off the bay, combining the height of the building and the 100-foot cliff.

Launch your boat from Rogues Harbor, a play on a pirate theme. Twelve miles of trails take you all over the park, from cliff overlooks to a sandy beach. Spend a day at Upper Bay Museum in North East to get a taste of life near the bay.

Elk Neck Campground

Gorgeous park. Private, quiet. The only downside is that the sites are pretty close together and all on concrete. We love being on the grass with our tent but were told that it would kill the grass, which makes sense, but that's the only downside.

Elk Neck Campground

I camped here back in September of 2015. The hiking is exceptional and the park could be explored for days, however the camping area is very cramped, loud and full of traffic. It seemed people never stopped driving around the tiny camp roads. I have camped in state parks before in PA, NJ, NY and VT but this state park had sites literally up against the neighboring site. Go for the beautiful scenery and hiking but camp elsewhere unless you want a festival atmosphere.

Elk Neck Campground

Just got back from camping at Elk Neck a few days ago. Overall, the campsite was very nice. The sites are well kept and have fairly decent bathrooms with hot showers. My only complaint is that the sites are very close together. Luckily we had nice neighbors this weekend. There are plenty of trails around the park. Don't miss hiking to Turkey Point Lighthouse for a really great view. Since it's the middle of October, we didn't do any swimming or kayaking. If you want to get out of the park, the town of North East is only 15 minutes away. There are lots of really great places to eat local seafood around the town. All-in-all we had a really great time (did I mention that this was my first time camping) and we will definitely be back!
