On the morning of Sat.Nov 22, 2025, the Farm will host a 5K Perimeter trail run/walk, with Campsite 1 as the finish line. Therefore, it is closed for camping on the 21. Sites 2 and 3* will remain open, but please note there will be extra people in the waterfront area on the morning of Nov 22 until 11am.
Note about price increase: Hipcamp has recently increased their commission rate, and this has been reflected in our new price increase of $2 per night. We are very sorry to have to raise our rate. However, we are very pleased with the support and quick feedback that Hipcamp consistently provides. Feel free to ask us any questions about this.

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. This makes the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

Secluded campsite with 4 RV spots, 3 electric and water, 1 water only (quiet generator allowed here) and 1 tent only site. All spots are waterfront, located on Core Sound. There is a dock to tie up your kayaks and paddle boards. Boats are welcome to park in our overflow parking area and a public boat ramp is 0.25 miles away. Take the Davis ferry to the beautiful beaches of Cape Lookout just a few minutes away! 3 sites with 30-amp power (sites 1, 2 and 3) we welcome generators at the other sites, so long as they are quiet. All with water hookups except tent site 5.
One can also pitch your tent close to the water (site 5). Enjoy swimming in the sound, fishing, wind surfing, paddle boarding, kayaks and your canoes!!!! Enjoy it all and only share the space with 4 other sites. No waste dump on site. Core Creek Campground will allow you to dump for $39.
20 minutes from shops and restaurants of Beaufort and Morehead city. There is also a ferry to Ocracoke Island from Cedar Island, a peaceful 20-minute drive away.
Really great access to a quiet and beautiful part of the outer (inner) banks. Everything you’d ever want to do at the beach is within 30 minutes and the sunrise on the sound is gorgeous.
Be prepared for mosquitoes, especially at dusk. Recommend spray or a bug light. Carteret County is now spraying our site for mosquitoes!
With Cape Lookout National seashore and Fort Macon State Park under 20 minutes from us, you also have tons of outer-bank activities to choose from.

Gator Creek, a secluded natural getaway located near Alligator River on Little Alligator Creek. This is a quiet property surrounded by wetlands and state hunting preserves-perfect for campers who love true wilderness.
Fishing is available all around the area ,and the creek can be reached with a short walk through the woods or by going down the road. There is no clear-cut trail, as I keep the land as natural as possible. A public boat ramp is within walking distance.

Another wonderful trip in the books at Spruill. We brought a hot tent this stay and Site 1 was just perfect for our Christmas camping trip! It was such a peaceful break from the usual holiday hustle and bustle. With the cooler temperatures, it was a wonderful convenience to have the port-a-potty and firewood close by. The sunsets, of course, did not disappoint and it was such a treat to experience the differences in nature here during the off season. Can't wait for our next stay!

I did a one night primitive camp at Joyce's land. It is near gamelands but was mostly quiet, especially after dark. I slept well and if I had stayed longer, I would have done more fishing! Thanks for the hospitality!

Gator Creek was a perfect place to get away from everything for a night. Joyce's land is well-cleared and accommodating for whatever flavor of camping you're there for. It was the ideal distance to be close enough to civilization, yet quiet and private enough to feel at home in the woods for a night. Joyce was very responsive and kind, answering all questions we had promptly. We would be happy to stay there again!

Joyce was very kind and allowed me to set up near the fire pit and outside toilet. The near by water area was pretty, especially at sunset. This is a great place for anyone who wants to be in solitude and stick to the campsite. Except for the local hunters who briefly set off some rounds in the day time, it was incredibly quiet. The site is in a very small rural community with only a single convenient store, but there are no shops or local entertainment. Would recommend for anyone into having a complete wilderness experience.

Hands down one of the best hidden gems on the way to OBX. Their dog Fischer greeted us immediately, such a friendly pup, and friendly host/family. The lot is spacious, and the ponds are magical. We had the pleasure of staying here in the beginning of November. It’s a very scenic spot by several ponds and surrounded by forest. They had even just put in an electrical hookup for us to use. Abegail was a very responsive hostess and her husband even lent me his fishing rod to use. I probably would have caught something if my dog hadn’t thought it was some kind of fetch game lol. Lots of room for my pets to roam about and I had a couple great fires while I was there. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back someday!

The area is dog friendly and separated enough from each camp site to have privacy. The ability to purchase dried wood is always a plus!

What an amazing campsite! Stunning views over the Albemarle, well-marked nature trails, birdsong. Hawks over the fields during the day, barred owls at night! Very quiet, even with other campers on the property. Virtually no bugs (thank you November!) Julia and Lincoln are awesome hosts, easy to reach and very communicative.

Nice area quiet and well kept. everything you need to set up camp. The pad is a little quirky. Your power is on one side of the pad and water and sewer are on the other side. The pad I guessing is 36 feet wide, So you need to park according to how much cable or water line you have.I parked near the power so I had to run 25 ft of sewer line. and it goes up hill at the end so you had to walk out the drain line , There seems to be 2 inlets you need to look around for the lower one it is hidden in the grass. the other inlet sticks up so high it was difficult to get a good drane . both 50 and 30 amp are available. The water is Ocracoke water, I Never did like it You might want to bring bottle water , Although there is no problem with the water it is safe to use , I just don't like the water anywhere on the Island. no picnic table or trash cans. You can deposit trash at the trash depot next to the post office.
Not far from town so community store is just a few minutes away as well as Restaurants and shops. If I keep RVing I will be back .
