Really great access to a quiet and beautiful part of the outer (inner) banks. Everything you’d ever want to do at the beach is within 30 minutes and the sunrise on the sound is gorgeous.
Be prepared for mosquitoes, especially at dusk. Recommend spray or a bug light. Carteret County is now spraying our site for mosquitoes!
With Cape Lookout National seashore and Fort Macon State Park under 20 minutes from us, you also have tons of outer-bank activities to choose from.

a nicely groomed orchard with limited available RV hookups. The property sits on a small peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. The creeks around us contain small reds, trout, mullet, gar, and various other species. if you have a kayak, it's a short paddle to where you will catch larger trout and reds.
We can accommodate up to RVs up to 55' in length. Tow vehicles can be detached and parked separately. Sites have 50A power and water, sewer is by dump. If you stay a week or longer we will empty your tanks with our mobile tank once per week for free. If you stay less than a week but want our service it's $20
All sites include picnic tables and fire pits, and tent campers are welcome to use RV sites. WIFI is pretty fast we have gigabit fiber from Spectrum and it's free for our guests.
We have very little light pollution, stargazing is excellent. Small solar torches provide a soft glow at night, but we recommend bringing a flashlight for walking around after dark.
Our bathhouse includes toilets and sinks. Heated showers are outdoors next to bathhouse and are very nice, nestled into some trees.
We are a 12-minute drive from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina — a charming, friendly town of just 999 residents. Despite its small size, Oriental hosts many local events throughout the year. About 15 minutes in the other direction, you’ll find larger stores like Walmart, as well as health services, laundromats, car washes, and more.

Electricity is available, just be mindful of high voltage items while heater is running. NO bed linens and pillows provided. The wing-wall has an easy mechanism of opening and closing; use the cleat on the pole to tie it up. Be mindful of its weight and assist it with your hand as you pull it up.

The large main bedroom has a queen bed, a designated workplace, and a bathroom with a soaking tub; a small bedroom houses twin bunk beds and a stacked washer/dryer. Please place any trash or recyclables in the trash bags into the labeled trash receptacles behind the house.

Enjoy this unique and family/pet-friendly home. Captain Claude Brown built this charming farmhouse in 1945 for his bride Belle. The Brown family is very well-known in Marshallberg, NC. The road and an island are named after them! The farmhouse was lovingly renovated in 2023 and is ready for guests, both 2-legged and 4-legged! There is a water view from the front porch, the Marshallberg Harbor and boat ramp are a 1/2 mile away, and a doggy door leads to a fun fenced-in area for Fido!
The space
There are three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, one with a bathtub. The kitchen is completely renovated with adorable, retro appliances that work like the best modern appliances out there. There is a large 60 inch television in the beautifully-furnished living room, and a relaxing sunroom that faces the distinguished old barn. The doggie door leads out to a perfectly fenced area of the backyard where your dog can run and play safely. The neighborhood is very dog friendly and there is a nice 1 mile walk around the block. You can see water from the front porch and put your boat in at the ramp in the Marshallberg Harbor.

The entire house is open for your vacation getaway except the upstairs attic.
Other things to note
Marshallberg looks out over Core Sound and the Cape Lookout lighthouse. You will see fishing boats of all kinds going by. You can take a ferry from Harkers Island over to the lighthouse to see it up close and then cross an elevated path to the ocean side of Core Banks. Feel free to bring your own boat and put it in at the Marshallberg Harbor boat ramp. There is no charge for using the ramp.

Stayed in the tiny home on Rizwan’s land and it was awesome! It was a beautiful view right on the water. We had plenty to do and we certainly took advantage of that. We started off by kayaking, switched to the paddle boat, fishing, and then finished off with making s’mores by the fire. We ended the night grilling some steak and potatoes inside of the kitchen area. So peaceful and a much needed get away.

This was a beautiful camping spot for our family. We wanted somewhere secluded where we could hop over to the Outer Banks, and it was great. Plan for high grass, uneven terrain, and mosquitoes. The drive in is unpaved and wooded, but 2WD vehicles can make it with small campers. Anything other than a pop up I would check with the host. There is not really a beach, it’s more of a rocky shoreline but, again, a beautiful coastal view with sail boats, shrimp boats, and sea birds to watch. The dock is a great place to sip your coffee. Even with it being hot (end of July/early August so, of course it was!) and buggy, we really enjoyed this spot and would stay again.

Absolutely incredible location. People say it is hard to find the place but it wasn’t that difficult. Just drive slow and you’ll see it. Great views, gas station about a mile up the road so if you need to use the bathroom that’s a perfect place for it. The ferry take off store is also about a mile away. Overall great location. Where do I even start?! Jim’s property is a little slice of heaven! And Jim and Apollo (puppy dog) are the absolute best hosts you can imagine. I’ve never stayed at a Hipcamp with this kind of magical experience. I last minute asked if I could stay and he was so accommodating. Jim goes above and beyond making sure you feel comfortable, safe, and welcomed. It’s true southern hospitality. Do NOT miss an opportunity to stay here.
I tent camped, there is a bathroom and boat house close by that has hot and cold water. Every amenity you could ask for. It’s a short walk to the beach and you’ll feel like a part of the neighborhood/family so quickly. I can’t wait to return. Thank you Jim and Cary for the most wonderful time. It was the sweetest trip out to the coast I could’ve ever dreamed of. See you all this fall! ☺️

What an excellent site, this was. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could’ve stayed longer. The site is in a quiet neighborhood about a 20 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. We definitely will be back next year. Just a couple FYI to those coming, be careful turning right onto back road off of British cemetery Road due to a low hanging branch from a tree. I would make sure also you have a 30 or 50 amp extension cord due to the positioning of the power pole.
As I said before, this was an amazing sight and we really enjoyed it. Miss Leigh is an amazing host. Very responsive with communication. We appreciate her, sharing her little slice of heaven with us.

Sean has a beautiful slice of heaven here. I stayed at Campsite 3 and it was perfect. Amazing sunsets and sunrises with a comfortable spot to sit and chill right on the water. This Hipcamp was peaceful, quiet just as I had hoped. Easy access to Beaufort and all it has to offer. Would definitely recommend and hope to return!!

We had a great stay here and would definitely consider coming back. The site is on a concrete pad, which made it nice and clean, and it’s located in a quiet residential neighborhood. It was peaceful and felt very safe.
The main village is about a mile away. We rode our bikes everywhere and it worked out perfectly.
A few things future campers should know:
* There isn’t a picnic table, so if you like eating or relaxing outside, bring a folding table.
* There isn’t a trash bin on site. Instead, you give your trash to the friendly neighbor, who was very welcoming and helpful during our stay.
* The utility hookups are a little unusual. The water and sewer connections are on one side of the site, while the electric hookup is on the other.
Overall, this was a quiet, convenient place to stay, and with a little preparation, it’s an excellent base for exploring the area.

James was so sweet and helpful, gave me a tour and made sure all my questions were answered and needs were met. Everything about the area is amazing. I woke up every morning to a beautiful river that winds right down to the ocean, flanked by shady trees all the way. The minnows here were so fun to watch- even they seemed happy to be here, practically dancing atop the water. The beach is a short quiet walk down the road. I met crabs, birds, frogs, even a turtle! Woke up early one morning to the see the sunrise over the waves, and with the sea grass swaying with the tides it was just incredible.
The sites are all well stocked and quiet, theres even fire extinguishers! And the firewood was complimentary too. Plenty of spots around the area to sit and watch the stars (incredible view of the night sky btw, the milky way was visible!) and there’s lots of charming decor and pretty string lights. Really cozy all around, and James is just the sweetest guy. He gave me a few recommendations for what to do in the nearby town, so one of my days i went exploring Beaufort and had a lovely time. Lots of cool ships and neat little shops to explore!
Apollo is one of the friendliest chillest dogs i’ve ever met, loved getting to pet him in the mornings. This place is a really good deal for the price- kayaks were free to use (and so much fun) complimentary wifi and firewood, location is amazing, not to mention free shower! All around, I had a truly incredible time and i’m sad to have to leave!

If you have a Promaster camper van as we do, you can absolutely fit into this fully shaded spot. You will have a private outdoor shower, flushing toilet, electric hookup, water, sink area, and beautiful private decks with views of the ocean and the beach only a short walk away. We were able to walk to the Food Giant, and enjoy Avon attractions with a short drive. The extensive shade was great for us and our dogs. We would love to come again. This felt like a true beach vacation.
