Great place to stay in Hatteras
The site is alongside Ryan's house in the middle of Hatteras. I was initially concerned that it was next to a main street, but then realized it was THE main street and hardly a busy one.
We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit. We went to the beach, rented a boat, got a golf cart, and dined at some nice restaurants... all within minutes of the site.
I liked the experience more because I got a good view of village life (watching the ships unload their catch at the harbor was extraordinary), versus sitting in some scrub bushes nearby and missing the action.
We visited the other RV parks in the area and the were mostly crowded open lots with no charm.
Our hosts filled us in on how the great house, like many in the village, was built floor-by-floor in stages, starting in 1906. Ryan's 5-year-old son filled us in on all the important matters of the day and his 7-year-old daughter showed us a few acrobatics, but mostly we were left alone.
