it was our second time here, and it’s a great spot for families. goats, baby chickens, two friendly dogs, a zip line, and fire wood galore. we hammock camped, but there’s room for small or medium tents. probably not a large 8-person tent. it’s a chill place that is more than worth the price.

This is an amazing family friendly campground. The staff are super helpful, the bathrooms are clean, and there is garbage disposal available. I bought firewood from the check in office, snd slept in my hammock. There are three off leash (but contained) dogs that live across the street and they barked from the yard A LOT.

Awesome campsite and the Safari tent was next level camping. Cooked a great campfire meal and was lucky enough to have a late night rain to sleep to. My kind of camping! Blair put me on a great hike, a cool excursion up the mountain to the orchard and a perfect midday lunch spot.

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

We had a great time! Host was accommodating and we arrived a bit early and as the unit was already clean, they allowed us to set up a bit early before kayaking at lake James! The glamping Yurt/ MTG2 was so cute! Comfy bed! There is not regular power source, but solar that operates a fan, lights, and a usb outlet (not standard plug). The social area with hammocks and tables was lovely to overlook the Mountain View! The highlight was definitely the spa purchase! Soaking tub with sauna! The showers had hot water (was outside so bring a robe!) and portajohns for restroom facilities. Water is available at a central location, but not at each individual campsite (one large jug provided next to fire pit). Overall a fabulous glamping experience!

Weekend Trip to Tellurian Family Campground

TFC is a great spot! Jud was very welcoming and accommodating and the views from the top are next level. We had visited South Mountains State Park a few times previously and it's great considering how close it is to the Charlotte area. But TFC has even better views of the South Mountains and a pretty awesome river to play in. 30 min from several foothills towns worth exploring. Very easy camper hookup, nice flat spots, and a great facility with bathrooms and some extra seating for the great views. Thanks, Jud and family!

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

My friends and I all had a great time staying at campsite 6! There was plenty of space for us to spread out the 3 tents we brought and have room for our vehicles as well. I was easily able to drive up to the campsite in my smaller car. The portapotty was only a short walk from the campsite. Having running water not directly at the campsite but being able to refill our water jugs was very helpful. Our group also booked thes spa which was a great daytime activity. Even with 7 of us we all had fun. The tiki torch rental was also a great add on and a fun surprise for the others in my group. The hikes to the nearby overlook and creek were short but well worth. We hope to return to campsite 6 in years to come!

We loved camping at Harmon Farms! The site was very private and rustic, even though the farm had a lot to offer! We bought fresh eggs, sausage, and steak from the camp store to cook while we camped. All were delicious! Our group went on the farm tour (loved learning about the working farm and a lot of the processes) and rented RC speed boats (ton of fun, even for adults). There’s a neat waterfall/swimming hole about a 5 minute drive away, which we also enjoyed. Thanks for the great weekend!

We had a great experience! We chose this spot to take our kids on their first camping trip and they absolutely loved it. Access to the creek was great and we had plenty of space for them to run around. It rained the night before so the field was too muddy to bring our cars so Cheryl and her family helped us bring our gear in on their four wheeler. We will definitely be booking another stay with them.

This serene campsite borders native trout water and an an additional 45 private acres that have been passed down in the Brittain family since the 1790s. The upper meadow provides canoe, kayak and fishing access to South Mills River as well as shaded private mountain trails. This very private campground is a five minute drive from Pisgah National Forest and 10 minutes from the Asheville Airport and the Sierra Nevada Brewing company. Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. Grandpa Squirrel's Dome's sits on 4.1 acres at the base of Granny Squirrel Mountain in the foothills of the Appalachian's and less than 5 miles from the town of Andrew's North Carolina in Cherokee County. Highway 19 abuts the land providing easy access to destinations of your choice. These destinations may include white water rafting, tubing, hiking, cruising the Tail of the Dragon, antiquing, hitting the casinos, and any other adventure of your choosing. Of course, you may also choose to find a place to just sit down, relax, and enjoy the sounds and energy of the noisy creek that pulses along its western border. Perhaps a simple picnic along the banks, or maybe you'd like to feed the fish that inhabit and grace this land. Short History The Cherokee's called this land "Konehete", aka "The Long Valley Place", and it was thought of as, "Cherokee Paradise". They grew the Three Sisters (Corn, Beans and Squash), hunted the rich lands, fished its creeks and lakes, worshiped and gave thanks to the great Creator and to the spirits of the land, as well as the animals which inhabit it. The military removal of what remained of the Cherokee Nation began in 1836 along what we now refer to as "The Trail of Tears". It started here in Andrews, which at that time was called Valley Town. The first fort built along the Trail of Tears was Ft Delaney, all that remains today is the remnants of a stone wall, it lies nearby. Running along the western border of Grandpa Squirrel's is an always running creek which is fed by a mountain top spring as well as rain runoff from the surrounding mountains. Along the creek there are 3 geodesic domes (soon to be 5) which provide 250 square feet of living space within. The domes are furnished with a queen size bed, a small dining area and a place to store your things. Each dome also has a small gravel patio and seating is provided. Additionally, there are propane BBQ grills located at the outdoor community kitchen area, as well as potable water. This is also where you will find your coffee in the morning. Transparency and Setting Expectations: THE BAD There are no flushing toilets. There is an outhouse on site. To avoid trips to the outhouse late at night, each dome comes with a porta potty. If you choose to use the porta potty in your dome, it is your responsibility to transfer the waste to the outhouse and to properly clean it out. Cleaning supplies are provided. Granpa Squirrels is not secluded deep in the woods and off the beaten path., It abuts the main highway and there is a considerable amount of road noise. The road noise dies down at night but returns early the next day as delivery trucks make their way down the highway. With that said, it's also kind of cool to see packs of cyclists and car enthusiasts blowing past the property ready for another glorious day in the mountains of North Carolina.

Fishing privileges are actually written into property owners' deed on the purchase of land. Views that can bring a tear to a glass eye and relaxing sounds of the creek can be heard from anywhere on the property. Hundreds of Hiking trails in the area, many just a short distance from the property. Please be respectful of others' property and no trespassing signs. It’s a kinda bumpy mountain road to get there but it’s also like driving through an enchanted forest. The secluded location, peaceful and breathtaking views make this place a must-see adventure.

We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. Please review the Extras options as we offer river lifts, firewood and dog stays; thank you! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Some roofs are full size, some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in normal weather conditions. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system, allowing guests and dogs be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned on a weekly basis. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, et I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Aramesh is 120 acres of Blue Ridge heaven with something for every wilderness adventure seeker: unmatched mountain views, lush old growth forests, babbling brooks, and miles of trails for all skill levels. The property starts at 3700 ft altitude, with summit at 4500 ft on the Glades mountain ridge. We have only a few campsites on the vast property, so the wind in the trees and birds will be all you hear. Come and stay with us and be renewed! IMPORTANT: 4WD or AWD is required to access our property. There is a sometimes steep and windy gravel road into Pause. Please make sure your vehicle has 4WD or AWD before you book. Campsites: They are 3/4-1/4 mile from the entrance. Some are accessible by 4WD. There may be some vigorous hiking involved, but the views are worth it. The pads are various sizes. Let us know what the needs of your party are and we can help you choose from the available spots. We also have several more remote “off-menu” sites for those seeking a backpacking adventure - ask for more information if your are interested. Hiking: There are several miles of trails on the property. They range from an easy slope to very strenuous. The entire property is fenced so you won't easily get lost. Your climbing efforts will be amply rewarded by stunning views, especially at sunset. Trail maps are available upon request. On-Site Amenities: we provide a clean porta-potty and running water that is spring fed. We ask that you follow "Leave-No-Trace" procedures during your stay. Off-Site Amenities: If you choose to explore the area : we are a 10 minute drive from I-40 Exit 24. Asheville is 45 minutes away; Waynesville is 25 minutes away. Presnell's Grocery (highly recommended, family-owned store that sells locally farmed products) is 10 minutes away from the property entrance. The Ingles supermarket in Canton is a 15 minute drive. You will find every kind of fast food in that area. There are also several excellent local dining options in Canton, Clyde, and Waynesville which we are happy to recommend to you by request.

Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

Spruill Conservation Farm

It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Waterfall camping close to CLT

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Please read the entire listing because I have updated this page. The booking is for 2 people, any guest after the initial 2 or pet will be $10 per night. Add them as extra guests Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024. Cherryfield Luxury Group Camping exceeded our expectations. The shelters and grounds were prestine and the covered platforms were definately the way to go car camping. Our tents stayed neat and the covered shelter kept us dry and cozy as we watched the rain on our second night without a fly on our tent.This campsite has thought of everything. There are grills an firepits beside each platform (each platform is large enough for 3 four person tents) and there are two common shelters with electricity and GORGEOUS bathrooms. It is funny to say, but the bathrooms were nicer than many hotels we've stayed at... large tiled shower with digital temperature controls, excellent water pressure from the large rain shower head, and, as a bonus, surround shower heads for that extra special something. I have never been excited by a shower or bathroom at a campground, but I made sure to shower before leaving because the experience was so zen. There is ample lawn space to play games, set up additional tents, and spread out for privacy, even during larger group gatherings. There are grills and grill tops by each fire pit making campfire or grill cooking easy, but delicious local restaurants just 10 minutes away also offer catering style menus that makie car camping and group gatherings even easier (the local BBQ and Italian were terrific). The grounds are meticulously kept and there are sturdy bear boxes to protect food and trash to help keep unwanted visitors from troubling guests. While we enjoyed some activities away from Cherryfied, we could have easily spent the entire weekend at the campsite. Not only are the grounds spectacular, but there is an easy walking trail to a lovely moss covered waterfall just steps away from the campgroud. The sound of the waterfall can be heard from the campground. It added ambient atmosphere and lulled us to sleep each night. The hosts were terrific and offered many suggestions for take out meals and activities. My only criticism is that the weekend went by too quickly. I did not realize how much my family needed an escape of this sort until we got the Cherryfield. I recomment Cherryfield without reservation. Take good care of this special place. We cannot wait to return.
