We had the best time here! It was a little warm in the tent during the day in August but who stays in the tent in the middle of the day?!? Everything was perfect and they thought of so many details to make your stay memorable! We paid the extra fee to use the spa and it was perfect well worth the experience! They’ve really put in a lot of time and effort into building this campsite and we truly enjoyed it!

Campsite was decent with a pretty good view, but even though it was lit up and had a fan there was no plug in. I parked by the site, but it was tough and my car barely fit through a couple trees. Also, it said there was a bathroom and showers nearby, but they are not ready yet. However, it looks like they're working on the place so in the future it could be really nice.

This is a nice, clean campsite that is great for a weekend jaunt. Directions to the property were clear and the host was responsive. Camp site 1 has ample room for at least 3 small to medium tents. I timed my visit with a meteor shower, but alas, the stars were not aligned for good viewing that night! Site one is in the trees so did not have good star viewing, but I did get a good viewing of the sunset from the grill area! This area had lots of seating and open space. I appreciated the path lights on the way back down to my campsite because I can get lost in a straight line. Next time I want to see the stars I will spring for one of the yurts or the geodesic domes as these have much nicer viewing areas and are really where it's at. These sites had fewer mosquitos as well. The trail on the site was OK as far as hiking goes. I did enjoyed seeing wildlife such as wildflowers, deer and tons of types of fungi on the trail. I would recommend the yurt campsites to friends.

Starlight Hills is absolutely incredible. I have stayed in the yurts and have also camped in a primal spot, no matter what option, a great time is always had. I stayed in a yurt this past trip, it was absolutely down pouring rain, not a single drop of water got into the yurt.

Car/ Camper Site4
Beautiful campground! My favorite part was how private the sites were. We stayed in our small teardrop camper in Car Site 4. The viewpoint with the BBQ and tables a very short walk away where we laid on the hammocks and watched the sun go down. There are two trails--the overlook trail in particular was beautiful!!! The outdoor showers were hot, super clean, and how lovely it is to shower outside. I didn't expect the vending machines, it was a nice touch!!! It's close to South Mountain State Park if you want some longer hikes very close by. The glamping sites were beautiful even though we didnt stay in there. We also were able to have the dogs off leash for the most part and they LOVED it. Will return. Lots of love put into this campground and can't wait to see it continue to evolve.

It was a beautiful and peaceful place. Well maintained and clean. Although our bell tent had no electricity, as expected, it was very convenient to have the ability to charge our phones inside the tent, indoor lights and the fan!
Very quiet and relaxing! Laying in the hammock at the top of the hill by the grilling area first thing in the morning, overlooking the mountains, was absolute bliss! Bring your own towels, charcoal lighter fluid, food for grilling, and mosquito spray.

I loved every minute of this camping trip. I would come back any day. We stayed at MTG1 one night and MTG3 one night and we loved it, they both had great views but different feel to it.
Site 8 review: I was not especially impressed this particular site. It's very, very rocky and tons of roots all over it. So many ways to trip on something. Limited areas to put up a tent compared to sites 7 and 9. Does have decent privacy and I like how far in the trees it is, providing a lot of shade. One big negative I experienced was that it rained twice and the second time it really poured! So much so, it flooded the only area my tent could fit and got water in it and we had to leave early.
As a whole, I see lots of potential in the camp ground, but so much is in the works. It has good views, especially the sunset, working showers (didn't use them though) Porta potties for toilets, filtered water area, which is nice, and some trails. Not high enough elevation for summer camping in my opinion, so if I'm back, it'll be in cooler months.
We stayed at MTG 1 and it was an awesome camping spot with great views. The atmosphere of meeting other campers at the common area made for a great night! The site was clean and well-maintained, and it was easy to find. Perfect spot for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy nature while still getting to connect with a friendly camping community. We’d definitely stay here again and would recommend it to other campers!”

Portable toilet dirty to use. Though it was for 2 nights, we could spent only 1 night.
Definitely would recommend for fall camping. Loved the cabin we were in. The view of the mountains in the mornings was beautiful. Very clean showers and restrooms. A variety of camping styles on site. Spa was very cute and relaxing and also included a nice view of the mountains.

We had a great weekend. The view was beautiful. Waking up in the morning and seeing the mountains from the tent was a special experience!
Stunning vista! Every hour brought a new view... Sun, mist, moonlight! Loved the hiking trail and how well spaced out the sites are.
Great campsite. We stayed at site 5 that was across from the communal overlook spot.
Quiet and big enough spot to park our truck for use of the RTT. Not a perfectly level spot but we made due. If you want a level spot the designated car camper sites looked more level and designed for RTT set ups. Watch for tortoises crossing the road we saved two from being squashed. Overall nice stay and would stay here again if in the area. About 1.5 hours to Linville Gorge and Pisgah for hikes.
We loved our stay at the MTG 1 site. The string lights added magic, the tent was comfortable and the bedding was clean and cozy. We had it made in the shade at that spot: right next to the overlook public space, we had an incredible view and easy access to the charcoal grills, extra picnic tables and the wooden playground (which was incredibly convenient when you have little kids in tow). The purified drinking water was easily accessible from the central shared location, the port-a-potty placed near us up the hill was also a convenient way to use the restroom in the middle of the night. We didn’t get a chance to explore down by the amenities area, but driving through, we spotted a mist zone and some bathrooms & showers being constructed?
Lots of sites for car campers, yurt glampers, and the geodesic domes looked SUPER cool.
My three year old has requested that we move here and live at this campsite, but since I have a day job, we compromised on coming back very soon.
I stayed in the cabin. Very comfortable bed, fan with screens on the windows that opened, a little table and everything I needed. William was very prompt with communication and then upon my arrival help get me to my campsite in the dark. Thank you.
Great campground! Easy directions to get to and William was very responsive with communication. I like how the campground is constantly improving and offers a variety of sites-you can tent camp, car, or stay in a dome. There is a small playground which my kids loved and the overlook was a nice area to hang out. I would definitely come back here again.

Easy to find and good size lot. Cant beat the view from the common area!
I loved it. Luna Dome was the most expensive site $250/night. No bathroom or water but you can’t beat the view. You still have to use bath house which is down at the entrance so it’s a nice walk or short all terrain drive. Bed was comfy and Bluetooth capability was a nice modern touch.
My only complaints are: the campground is near a main mountain road. Not a great deal of traffic but you can definitely hear the semis engine braking at night. And the dogs (wild?) barking somewhere in the valley till the middle of the night was a little disturbing. But the view supersedes all of that. Try it for yourself!
We had a lot of fun! I’m not a camper but my boyfriend is so I booked a camping trip that felt like the best of both worlds for his birthday! It was as close to real camping with a touch of glamping as you can get! I do wish the string lights were still up at the campsite! We were in MTG 5 and it was nice and secluded since our family also rented the little cabin next to us! Would highly recommend visiting :) we will be returning for a few days soon since we know we like it! Host is also great and has great communication!
Great star gazing experience. Easy to get to and closer to home.
