Lil Snowbird Farm Primitive Camping

Second time to Big Ian, third time to Lil Snowbird and if it was possible to love it more, I do. Booked a site on the river also because it was due to be in the 90s the whole visit and that was the perfect way to enjoy the view from the top and cool off and catch some trout at the bottom. Andrew is the best host around and I’m so grateful to have found this place years ago. Already talking about our next visit. Thank you!!! We love that there’s no cell service. It’s nice to truly disconnect from the world in such a gorgeous place. The views are unbeatable. Cooking all our food on the open flame is awesome. Andrew’s fire pits are perfect. We are also grateful for the composting privy. A brilliant addition that gives a bit of glamp while still being completely primitive.

“Lookout” Mountainside 11 tent

We had a wonderful time on Lil Snowbird Farm! Andrew was very welcoming and greeted us with a map of the area and gave us some good recommendations. The campsite was very comfortable, with the grill over the fire pit for cooking, a long bench, a picnic table and an additional table (very useful for preparing meals). We will be recommending this campsite to anyone interested in camping in this area!

Great spot! It is out there, but that is what makes it great. We stayed in spot 6 and it felt very remote. Definitely would stay here again if we revisit the area.

First time camping and we brought our littles in tow! (4, 4, 7months) perfect site. There are areas around the water that are more beach like for kids to get in and play. We were on site 1 but would definitely suggest 2 or 6 with kids. Andrew checked on us through the stay and we had no issues.

“Blueberry hill” 7 mountaintop

We stayed at Site 5, and it was an amazing experience. Andrew was very helpful! He gave us a local hiking map and helped our kids figure out how to fish for trout in the creek. The campsite was beautiful and well-maintained, and there was privacy between us and the next sites on both sides of us. We would definitely stay here again! Great work, Andrew!

3rd time isn’t always a charm

This was our 3rd time camping at Little Snowbird. We stayed at different sites each time and all three were lovely, including this one. However, this trip was different than the others and, because of that, there won’t be a 4th. On Saturday we were eating lunch at our site when Andrew drove up and said he was going to be spraying his bushes and trees with a pesticide. All 4 of our dogs were running around and playing and like I said we were eating. He didn’t bother to ask us if it was ok, he just did it. He claimed the pesticide he was spraying was safe for us and our animals. After looking it up, permethrin is “safe” only after it has dried so no, spraying it while 4 dogs are running around and people are eating is not ok. The wind was blowing and, because he was spraying it up into a tree, naturally the mist was blowing over to us to the point we could smell it and taste it. If you want to spray your bushes and trees on your own time that’s fine. But when I pay to stay somewhere, that’s my time and I don’t expect to have to put my dogs up for over an hour or toss my lunch because you decided it’d be a good time to spray your pesticide. Andrew also got pretty upset because he found a few places where our dogs had pooped and we hadn’t cleaned it up yet (we weren’t going to stop eating to clean up dog poop). Maybe Andrew was just feeling extra emotional that day I don’t know. All I can say is the whole interaction was very weird and unexpected.

The campsite and entire surrounding area was very peaceful and quite. The host was very friendly and nice. Upon arrival he provided a pretty high quality map of the surrounding area and offered info as to where to get whatever you may need for supplies and where to get them. The campsites were clean and spaced far enough apart (with a wooded dividing area) that you cant really see to the next one. 10/10. Would definitely recommend.

One of my favorites

This is my second time to visit Little Snowbird and it was as great as the first time. Private, well Maintained, just beautiful property. I love having my tent so close to the creek and relaxing to the sound of running water. There was only one other camper there and the sites are so private and well spaced, I didn’t even know someone was there until I took a little walk. There is a little more traffic on the thru road-than before- mostly dump trucks working down the road but not really a big deal. I’m sure they don’t work on weekends so it wouldn’t be an issue. Andrew is great about stopping by to see if you need anything (there is ZERO cell service) and left a map and fire starter for me when he delivered my firewood.

I loved this campsite and property. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was fabulous! The drive up was part of the adventure for me, and my Subaru Outback did great on the road. My dog also had a blast playing in the creek. Thank you! I’m sure I’ll be back again :)

Very easy to follow directions up to the site. We did it at night and had no issues. Amazing views, even better accommodations. We were tucked away very well from other campsites and loved the privacy and silence.

Lil Snowbird was a perfect spot for our family camping trip! Beautiful spot with plenty of room to explore and privacy from other camper. The kids had a blast in the creek and there was lots of open space for firefly and star gazing. Close range to lots of hiking and outdoor play options.

Bring lots & lots o skitter spray

For us it was too far , we finally hit snowbird rd ohh it can’t be far now , he’ll ya it can we drove miles and miles , trust me the mountains are full primitive and semi-primitive sites where you not 45-50 mins from civilization , so when we did arrive I said oh this isn’t so so bad (wife clearly didn’t agree but that happens agreeing on tv shows so) we get out and we are quickly greeted by the type of mosquitoes that don’t need puddles of water to hatch it’s rained enough they launch from the grass itself and they hover , we get the same thing after massive rains and hurricanes here on the coast , trust me when i say these guys aren’t normal, I’m thinking we were there less than one minute and were back in the truck getting the hell out of there and calling my daughter and telling her to “don’t come the hell baby it’s dangerous “ anyway we meet in Bryson city and stayed at a wonderful hotel and had the absolute best weekend ever , no sense pouting ya got to adapt and move on , so please lil snowbird is I’m absolutely sure a wonderful place to camp and hangout but only early spring and fall and maybe early winter depending how many blankets ya brought, so plan well, it matters 😳

Trust the reviews! This camping spot is top notch. It was tranquil, well taken care of, and the views were breathtaking. Perfect for me and my pup. It was a rainy weekend so we had the whole mountainside to ourselves, so rare! Appreciate Andrew for his hospitality. Our purchased firewood, a complimentary local map, and fire starter were waiting for us upon arrival. This is out of cell range and AWD was definitely needed so plan ahead! 11/10 would recommend.
