We absolutely loved our stay here! The campsite is beautiful, private, and peaceful. We truly enjoyed our evenings by the campfire while watching hundreds of fireflies light up the field plus an occasional deer sighting.
It was so nice to let our dogs enjoy the property off leash. They had so much fun roaming around with plenty of space to run and play catch. They also enjoyed an occasional dip in the creek at the bottom of the property. :-)
There is a little path to the creek and Doug’s charming pottery studio, which was fun to browse and added to the unique character of the property. His work was exceptional and we purchased a couple of coffee mugs to take a little of the place home with us.
We also enjoyed day trips to the towns of Franklin, Highlands, Sylva, Cherokee, and the Nantahala Forest area.
Patty and Doug were readily available if we had any questions.
We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking to unplug and enjoy a peaceful countryside escape—especially if you’re traveling with dogs.
Oh and one more thing…I highly suggest you plan to arrive at least an hour before sunset so you can see all the turns you need to make to get to the hipcamp. :-) After you get there the set up was easy!

The hook ups were great . 50 amp ,water and sewer. Easy to pull our 35 foot class A and turn it around after removing our toad. It was a sweet little place with a creek running through with arc bridges over it at two different points. Bonus was a mowed meadow full of fire flies lighting up the evening . Very private - no other campers or other obvious sites. The hostess was very friendly and greated us with a fresh baked cranberry cake. No Wifi or cell service but that was refreshing! ( the road getting there was a little challenging ) The water was a somewhat "off " flavor wise so we used bottled water for drinking .

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect final camping trip in our travel trailer. Patti and Doug were wonderful hosts — Doug even brought an RV conversion adapter to use during our stay and Patti greeted us with delicious cheese and crackers. The site itself is beautiful, spacious, and completely private. Our dogs, Winston and Lila, loved running and sunbathing in the grassy yard.
A delightful surprise was seeing Doug’s pottery — he’s extremely talented and it was hard to choose which pieces to take home. My husband and I stayed to celebrate his birthday and our wedding anniversary, and the setting exceeded our expectations. We were even treated to the Lyrid meteor shower and a stunning view of Jupiter and its four largest moons. Patti had a great recommendation to drive along the river in Needmore Rd - 100% did not disappoint!
Highly recommend Cave Creek RV Site for anyone seeking a peaceful, well-appointed, and truly memorable stay. Five stars!

Wonderful! Beautiful! Quite! Private! We had the best stay here!! The site is near the road, but the traffic is so minimal it's not a problem at all. It's tucked up to the side of the mountain. You can here the creek from the site! There is a rather large area to utilize. The pottery barn was fun to peruse, we took a few pieces with us. Doug does beautiful work.
The property is very near the Little Tennessee River. We went multiple times. It's also about an hour from Cherokee, the South entrance to the Smokey Mountain Parkway, as well as the Smokey Mountains National Park.
Just south is Highlands, where there are many waterfalls to explore. There's an endless number of things to do in this area!
As great as the site is, the hosts are even better!! Two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Very accommodating, very concerned that there guests have what they need, including privacy. We'll be going back to see Patti & Doug!
We have a 30' class C. I'm relatively new to RV life, and am not accustomed to the quick elevation, curvy mountain roads. I found the Tellico Bridge Road was a little more comfortable than Iolta Church Road. I had no problem with the driveway or parking spot. I was able to turn around on the upper level without any problems. It might be a little tight for larger rigs. The hookups are great too. 50amp, extra long hose already hooked up & available for use. Our cat & dog enjoyed being offleash & loved our hosts too!! ❤️

This was our first hip camp experience. We’ve camped at a few campgrounds. The hosts were very helpful and gracious. The stream was loving and we drove down the road alongside the little Tennessee river. We grill with our attached grill and sat outside to eat dinner and the crackers and cheese that were provided upon getting there. Really good a nice choice. Doug’s pottery area has some beautiful and amazing pieces. If I weren’t working to be a minimalist I’d have love to have some American made works of art done through and labor of love. Most things you buy nowadays are cheap pallets of junk. This art created with skilled hands from the soul. Patti helped me with a road that took us beside the river and we stopped at multiple places. We did see a mink but I couldn’t snap the picture quick enough. We stayed Wed through Friday morning. We got there late Wednesday because my husband was new ice climbing up and making all the small turns. Our rig was a 28 ft long (travel trailer ). We went to tallulah gorge on Thursday. Check to ask if there are any fires as aged we were in and hour the smoke became suffocating. They never put the planned fires on the county website. Waterfalls were beautiful and the goats on the roof has been revamped and pretty awesome. Overall I highly recommend this place to stay. May God bless you Patti and Doug

The area is as beautiful and peaceful as ever. The pottery shop is a must see. Doug is a master pottery craftsman and you’ll fall in love with all his work.

We just got a camper and chose Patti and Doug’s site for our first trip. Best choice ever! The land was beautiful and private and exactly as pictured. Patti and Doug were the nicest hosts - bringing us cheese and crackers when we arrived and letting us borrow an electrical adapter. Our dog had the best time exploring the property with us. We will definitely be back!

The campsite was easy to find with GPS and there was lots of room at the site. It's a single camper site with a couple of acres to roam around on which our boy really enjoyed riding his bike. We had lots of room to play games and just relax. You are right off the road but there were only a few cars that passed by all weekend. We enjoyed the fact there was no cell signal, so we were able to totally disconnect from the world for a few days, that was really nice. We highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing campsite with no other campers around. We were able to read and work on lessons without any other distractions, it was really nice.
Patti and Doug were great host; they came up and introduced themselves when we arrived and let us know that if we needed anything they would be down at the house and for us to just come down. Again, if you're looking for a good spot to camp, go check them out, you won't be disappointed!

We loved our three nights camping at Cave Creek. The site was private, our hosts were magnanimous (Patti and Doug greeted us with cheese and crackers and guided us into the site and recommended sights to see while we were there). We took a beautiful hike along the Little Tennessee River (as recommended by our hosts) and enjoyed a visit to the town of Franklin. Delightful spot, delightful people. Couldn’t ask for more.

Patti and Doug met us upon arrival with cheese and crackers and advice on how to set up our 35’ Class A, which went smoothly. The roads getting there are pretty curvy with some switchback turns and steep hills. We decided to drive our towed vehicle separately and we are glad we did. I wouldn’t want to try towing it but it is probably doable.
Plenty of room for our dogs to run and the road near the site is very quiet, I think we saw 6 or 7 cars over the four days we were there and none were going fast. The creek is clear as drinking water and Doug’s pottery studio has many examples of his talented work.
Franklin and Bryson City are great towns and we wish we’d had more time to stop and enjoy. Beautiful countryside and a very quiet campsite.

My wife, daughter, four dogs and I loved it! Beautiful natural landscape, extremely well groomed. The camp spot is nearly perfectly level and they kept it mowed nice and short like a green carpet. Just down the path it opens up into another low mowed area great for tossing frisbees for our retrievers. It was also a nice area to let them chase the RC truck then splash in the crystal clear creek water afterwards. Patti met at the entrance to welcome us and give me a quick overview of the area. We chose to pull in and turn around on their property and I’m glad we did because the road to their property doesn’t allow for many turn around spots. There was plenty of room on their property to turn around if the ground is dry like it was for us. Very quiet spot, low traffic area, our dogs listen quite well for a wild bunch but I felt no need to leash them the entire time we were there. The only think I would like to share with people that might have a long camper like we do, the septic hookup was a stretch from the power pole, a short ride into the town of Franklin, I picked up an additional hose and we were in business. There is no signal in their area, at all. Our phones are with T-mobile and we have Mobile internet trough Verizon in the Camper, nothing would connect, so we enjoyed a low tech weekend. Over all we loved it, Patti’s husband caught us as we were packing up and gave us a bag of Mandarins as a parting gift, they were gone before we hit Asheville!

This campsite is beautiful. The property is charming, and felt very private. Our two dogs loved being able to play in the open field. The location is great, about 15 minute drive to Franklin. We really enjoyed its proximity to the Little Tennesse River. We made a trip each day to the river to enjoy the natural beauty and let the dogs do some retrieves in the water. The hosts, Patti and Doug, are warm and welcoming. We look forward to coming back.

I live in a remote and rural location in western NC, so my expectation of privacy and quiet is already extreme and I was happy with this location, my brother and I were the only people we saw all week. The site was easy to get into, we even turned a 26' class A around in it, it is well drained, it rained on and off for 4 of our 5 days :), its level and had a serene view with a refreshingly cool mountain branch at the bottom. It has a 50 AMP outlet and the hosts offered the 30AMP adapter, a well and septic hook-up. Do not be concerned about proximity to the road, it is well above the site and almost untraveled, we heard 4 or 5 cars go by in our 5 day stay and we spent a lot of time there, only two houses are past the site, then the road ends.
We were down for a show in Cherokee and a bluegrass festival and we spent the rest of our time watching elk, hiking and sightseeing out on The Parkway, and in Nantahala.
The hosts were beyond outstanding, gracious and truly enjoyable folks, staying here again is a definite Yes. Thanks for the birthday gift, and the cheese and crackers!

Patti and Doug are great hosts; they met us when we arrived and helped with getting us set up with our trailer including a 50 to 30 Amp dogbone for shore power, a wooden box to ease entry/exit at the trailer door, along with cheese and crackers to have once done with settling in. Very good communication prior to our arrival as there were heavy rains in the area, made sure to give tips about the area, and just made one feel at home

This site is right off the road, but the road is way back in the valley with barely any traffic. And it's hard to overstate how great it is to have a campsite this private but still with a full hookup. No having to rush showers and then figure out where to dump the tanks on the way home! Plus our dogs love the open free area. Hosts are great too! We have camped here twice and plan to return in the future.

A true gem in the mountains. A creek to play in, a field to run, hummingbirds in the morning and fireflies in the evening. How can I say enough about this place?! Huge site w FULL HOOK UPS. A large fire ring, two picnic tables and the hosts are a wonderful couple who understand that those booking here love nature and are seeking privacy. You have use of the whole
site, a big field below it and a creek. It’s huge! There’s also an enchanting pottery gallery filled with work that Doug created. As an artist myself, I LOVED this added feature. Our daughter is 2 and our puppy is 7 months old and they both enjoyed being here SO MUCH. They were able to run free and play in the field and the creek to their hearts content.
It is such a game changer from being in a campground. Private and secluded but yet only about 20 mins to town. It’s a great launching point for waterfall chasing or anything else you may want to do. We even made the drive up to Grandfather Mountain one day!
Our last night here, the sky was so clear that we tossed a quilt on the ground and star gazed. It was so beautiful.
As another reviewer mentioned -there is zero cell signal up here so definitely download the map for offline use.
We truly had such a special time here. We cannot thank Patti & Doug enough for opening their beautiful place to us and for their warm hospitality.

We Enjoyed our stay here with our family very much. patti greeted us on arrival and getting set up was easy. Our kids and dogs enjoyed exploring the creek and climbing trees. Our dogs were also free to run around which we loved as well. Just the openness but yet sucluded place felt so cozy and peaceful. Def plan on coming back for a longer stay.

We absolutely loved our stay!
Firstly, Patti was an amazing host. We had a couple of delays on our trip, and Patti went above and beyond to make sure that we got to the campsite safely our first night.
The campsite is private, huge, and has an upper and lower section, a fire pit, a stream, a small natural pool, and a pottery shop (check it out - Doug is SUPER talented).
There are water and sewage hookups, as well as both 50amp and 20amp electric hookups. There are a couple of picnic tables, and Patti also made additional chairs available to us.
The location was perfect for us. There is so much natural beauty around the area, and the campsite was the perfect basecamp for our weekend adventures at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and the Little Tennessee River.
We will be back for sure!!!

If you enjoy a private camping spot nestled in a beautiful mountain community with caring hosts, then you’ll be quite happy with this spot. The camping area is situated on the land that Patti and Doug live on, but you’re separated by a grassy area and a tree line at the small creek on the property as seen in the pictures. Patti and Doug communicated beautifully with us on the ins and outs of the camping spot. They have an hose at the ready for you a the water spigot and a converter if you don’t have a 50amp. Once we met them, they were happy to share with us things to do in the area. I had already done some research before hand, but a drive to a local river that Patti suggested was one of the most beautiful we’ve seen in these mountains. Patti also communicated the best way to enter the campsite. As for our rig and set up, we had a Dodge dually and 33ft 5th wheel and had to back into the site. This meant we needed to drive past the short gravel road to the campsite and turn around at a small bus turn around about 1/4 mile down the road. You’re pulling into a road and backing into another to accomplish this turn around. If you have a larger rig, confidence in your backing skills are a plus with this site. There is the possibility of turning around within the campsite, but we had arrived after a rain and we wanted to be cautious with getting stuck. I’ve included pictures of the bus turn around and the road/driveway of the campsite to hopefully help with a visual.
