1 night at Castleberry Bridge

I loved hammock camping here! The river tubing was a blast, and it was very quiet in the evenings. The hosts went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The amenities were well stocked and super clean! I will be back for sure.

We loved camping at Melissa's campsite. The scenery is great, and the creek is a true refreshing summertime treat. Loved the nearby chicken coop, the rooster was a pretty chill guy, not too loud in the morning. The stargazing at night was fantastic. We had a short drive to the national forest roads for some hiking. And we bought some of Melissa's honey, can't wait for our current honey to run out so we can try it.

WOW!!!!! What an incredible experience we had while camping from 7/3/25-7/6/25!!!! This campground was simply gorgeous with the beauty of nature all around you. The owners are fantastic, kind, knowledgeable and friendly wanting to make sure that you enjoy your visit. My grand daughter cut her toe and as soon as George and Ginny seen her being carried, they came rushing with the first aid kit and quickly had her bandaged up so she was on the run again right away! The campground has huge handmade picnic benches, grills with cleaning tools and spatula attached, bags for garbage disposals that were being emptied constantly, Life jackets free for the little ones, tubes rented all day for $5/each, the cleanest port-o-potty’s I’ve even seen and specially carved seats made out of logs all around the area so there are plenty of spots to just sit and relax to watch the water and the guests float by on tubes or listen to the birds. At night George or his son,Nick came around and set up the camp fires complete with kindled wood and starter. We just lit them up and we enjoyed fires each night. We travelled from Madison Alabama and we are already trying to set up our next trip. I guarantee once the word gets out about this place, it will be hard to get in!!!! 7 nights at Coweeta Creek Campground

My husband and I just spent a week at the Coweeta Creek Campground and it was the most peaceful camping trip we have ever had. This small campground has large campsites that are right on the creek. Every night we ate dinner and sat outside listening to the creek and watching the fireflies put on an amazing show. The campground has a nice bathhouse which was always clean and well stocked. The trees around the campsite gave us loads of shade we never had to put out the awning for shade. We will definitely be camping here again. Melissa and Adam were the perfect hosts.

2 nights at Hidden Acres Mountain Camping

I was blown away by Georgianna's property! The mountains make for a stunning backdrop for adventure but that doesn't always translate to ease. Backroads, spotty service, and a new area you've yet to navigate - can all lead to a frustrated beginning of a trip. Not the case at Woods & Water! From the online directions and guidance, we were able to find the property with ease and then once you've turned off the main road it was immediately evident that this was not your everyday property. From clearly marked signage, easy to navigate routes to each camp site, and a finesse that truly sets this place apart. Georgianna has worked hard to provide a space that respects the beauty of its surroundings but elevates the experience for guests. The hard work is evident with ample clear space for each site that allows options for set up and layout to your comfort. Lighting that is placed strategically to aide in navigating the area after dark but not too bright to compete with the stunning display of fireflies and stars! So much care and thoughtfulness has been put into this property to afford guests the most incredible laid-back experience!

Very nice campsite with lots of room, shade, and very peaceful. Having firewood and fresh eggs was a plus. Enjoyed everything about this place.

Weekend Trip to Mountain Creek Rest

We loved staying on Brian’s land. He was a great host, very responsive and informative when we had any questions. Heartstone was the perfect campsite. It was obvious just how much thought and care went into planning, building and maintaining this site. We loved the two perfectly leveled areas for our tents and the leveled space for the grill and picnic table AND the other leveled space for the fire pit. The site even comes with its own restroom/outhouse facility. We loved the view of the rippling creek from this site and the sounds of the rushing water. Pictures and words do not do this place justice. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Pick this site. It’s amazing. You won’t regret it.

3 nights at Mountain Creek Rest

What an amazing spot! The site is so thoughtfully designed with the bridge, platform, creek views, and other little touches. We found the gravel coming in/out to be in pretty great shape for the most part and were able to do it safely in our little Jetta. (But we’re pretty confident drivers on gravel backroads.) We had total privacy and our dogs loved roaming around, playing in the creek, and going back and forth across the bridge. Would absolutely come back if we’re in the area again!

3 nights at At the Ridge Camp-Riverside Escapes

What a sweet relaxing spot! Right outside our RV was a beautiful stream - I believe an offshoot of the French Broad River? Our pup went swimming several times a day as we sat on perfect large rocks sipping wine and throwing him sticks into the water! Plenty of shade with all the beautiful trees. We’ll be back in the fall to see the changing colors. There are several short term campers here that are super nice and helpful! The people are great and the camping was even better! Thank you to Tom - what a beautiful place you have! And thank you to Travis and Carol for being wonderful neighbors!

3 nights at Lil Snowbird Farm Primitive Camping

My husband and I stayed with our 2 dogs and thoroughly enjoyed little snowbird farm! We stayed at both big Ian and site 6 along the creek. Wonderful little hidden gem nestled away in the mountains. Both sites had their pros. Being next to the creek offered us plenty of water and a nice way to cool off, while the mountain offered spectacular views and the privacy we prefer, especially with having dogs. Andrew was a great host and we look forward to returning in the future.

This was a nice spot to set up camp close to Brevard an lots of waterfalls/hikes. There's a nice community area with water, outhouse, charging station, shower, and a few dishes/cooking utensils for us to use. It is close to a busy road so there was quite a lot of road noise at night.

Keep pets on a leash, especially if they like to roam or have any aggressive behavior. Spacious camping lots, and great trout fishing along little snowbird creek which is on private property. Fishing privileges are actually written into property owners' deed on the purchase of land. Views that can bring a tear to a glass eye and relaxing sounds of the creek can be heard from anywhere on the property. Hundreds of Hiking trails in the area, many just a short distance from the property. Please be respectful of others' property and no trespassing signs. It’s a kinda bumpy mountain road to get there but it’s also like driving through an enchanted forest. The secluded location, peaceful and breathtaking views make this place a must-see adventure.

Come join us at this unforgettable camping spot at Historic Castleberry Bridge where the Gold Rush happened, the Indian fish trap still exist, the birth place of Denver Colorado and the hideout of Jesse James just some of the history that happened at your campsite on the Etowah River. Our motto is "Thanks for keeping it clean," so help us spread the word and keep it true! Look for the gate at 851 Castleberry Bridge Rd (right where the bridge crosses the river) and drive through the gate and George (owner) should be there. He will open the second gate for you where you will be able to drive through and park at your site - weather permitting. To the left of the first gate is the community area with toilet, grills, picnic tables, etc. Remember, your phone might not work near the river. There's so much fun waiting for you to explore! Tubes are available for a $5 charge per day. If you're feeling extra adventurous, there are rope swings that let you swing over the river, and there are super cool places to splash around and swim, part of which, is in the Indian Fish Trap. When your tummy starts rumbling, don't worry. We've got you covered with grills in the community area where you can cook delicious food. So you can have a tasty meal with the sound of the river flowing in the background. Also we are within 5-10 minutes to stores, restaurant , etc. But wait, there's more excitement! If you're looking for an even bigger adventure, this is the perfect spot to begin an awesome kayaking trip if you brought your kayak. Afternoon picnics and sunsets on the Parkway are highly recommended as well as star gazing on a clear night is indubitably hypnotizing and will leave you awestruck!! Just a few nearby waterfalls under a 15 minute drive from campsite: 3.7 mi- Living Waters. Three easy waterfalls all within a short walk. French Broad Falls, Mill Shoals Falls, and Bird Rock Falls. 7.5 mi- Courthouse Falls. 45 ft. waterfall that plunges into a deep pool. Perfect spot for a dip on a hot summer’s afternoon. Ten minute fairly easy hike from trailhead. 7.7 mi- Paradise Falls Trailhead. One of the best secret swimming holes! A magnificent oasis. Challenging and steep hike, but worth it. 11 mi- Upper Dill Falls & Lower Dill Falls. 50 ft. Waterfall (lower) with just a short easy hike. Upper Dill falls is beautiful and tucked into a lush cove. 7.9 mi- Wolf Creek Lake. Better known to the locals as Wolf Lake, this 183 acre high elevation lake offers spectacular scenery and great swimming, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.

A visit to Georgia’s highest state park promises cool, fresh air and some of the best scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can take in the views from roadside overlooks or by following some of the 11 miles of hiking trails that lead past wildflowers, streams, waterfalls and forests. Circled by an easy walking trail, the park’s small lake is popular with anglers who fish for rainbow trout, catfish, and bream. Black Rock Mountain State Park Campground has 44 pitches under oaks and rhododendrons for tents and RVs, while four tent-only walk-in backcountry sites offer next-level privacy.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Reservations can be made at the Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites website or by phone.
Booking in advance is recommended for weekend campers. Reservations can be made 13 months ahead of time.
Campsites that have not been reserved in advance are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

When to go

The park is open year-round but, due to its elevation of 3,640 feet, temperatures are typically cooler than in other Georgia parks. That’s good news for summer visitors looking to escape from Georgia’s heat and humidity but, in winter, snow and ice may force some sections to close and the trails can get muddy and slippery. The park is known for its many spring wildflowers, including violets and flame azalea; early summer mountain laurel and rhododendron, and rich fall foliage.

Know before you go

RV drivers should be comfortable and experienced driving on very steep and narrow roads with tight turns.
For supplies, stop in Clayton, a 15-minute drive away.
Wi-Fi is available in the visitor center and Mellinger Center.
All pets must be on a six-foot leash and continuously attended to. Pets are not allowed in any buildings.

Black Rock Mountain State Park Campground

Don’t try to bring a travel trailer or RV longer than 20 feet, or you will have a very difficult time getting 1. To the campground itself and 2. Navigating it into a campsite in the 2nd loop which is on narrow grade.
