Escape to 92 acres of peaceful mountain farmland at Walnut Springs Estate in Lakemont, Georgia. This is truly secluded, off-grid camping for self-contained guests seeking space, privacy, and a genuine back-to-nature experience. My wife and I grew up in Rabun County, so you could say we know the area quite well. We explored this property while we were dating and have never found a place so peaceful and beautiful as this. We dreamed of one day stewarding this place with honor. In 2020 our dream became reality. After much work, it is our joy to share this place with you. Camp among open meadows, wooded edges, and peaceful water views, with access to a private pond, nearby spring-fed waterfall scenery, western sunset views, and excellent stargazing. The property borders Forest Service land and offers plenty of room to relax, explore, fish, hike, and enjoy campfires with your dog by your side. Walnut Springs Estate is best suited for tent campers, rooftop tent travelers, campervans, and smaller RVs that are comfortable without hookups or bathroom amenities. If you’re looking for a scenic North Georgia basecamp with fresh air, quiet nights, and a laid-back outdoor feel, this is the kind of place you book to unplug. Be sure to check out our extras for local goods. We also offer raw honey harvested directly from the land you’ll be camping on. Base pricing includes up to 4 adults and 2 vehicles per site. Additional adults and vehicles incur an extra charge. Kids stay free. Please note that we do not offer refunds within 30 days of booking.

Waterfall Tent Site
We had such an incredible stay at this campsite! The property is absolutely stunning, with scenic trails, a running creek with a waterfall, and beautiful nighttime skies . There was more than enough space for our group of nine plus two dogs. The five kids in our group were in heaven exploring the land, and at night the lightning bugs lit up the sky like glitter; it felt magical. The location is unbeatable too, just minutes from Tiger Mountain Vineyards and the charming downtown Clayton area, which made it easy to enjoy both nature and local spots. On top of that, the host was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Slice of Wooded Meadow Paradise

Waterfall Tent Site
This HipCamp was a quiet, sunny slice of paradise. Beautiful dogwood and other flowering trees around the edge of the woods. Our dog loved fetching in the open meadow. Kept her on leash at night, as we heard a coyote nearby! Other than that, only other critters around were grasshoppers (loved that it was nearly bug-less this time of year!). The fire pit was great. Stars were beautiful at night. During the day we enjoyed short jaunts to Tallulah Gorge and Panther Creek hikes, Tiger Mountain Vineyard Cafe, and Henri’s Bakery & Cafe in Clayton.

Highly recommend!! We stayed Feb 12–16 with our whole family and had a wonderful experience. This is a beautiful property that’s peaceful, clean, and incredibly scenic. We camped with tents/rooftop tents and felt very comfortable the entire time. There’s plenty to do right on the property, including fishing and hiking, and it was a great spot for kids and dogs to explore. The overall vibe is laid back, serene, and easygoing — exactly what we were hoping for. William was an excellent host — very responsive, kind, and clear about the property, the area, and expectations. He showed understanding and genuine kindness, which we really appreciated. We’re very grateful for the experience and look forward to staying here again!
