Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill. Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials. We are working towards: Total energy and water independence Total structural material independence Food independence via aquaponic farming Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet. Everything must be packed in and out on foot. Both sights require a hike to campsites on foot with uneven rooted trails. {You are welcome to use our well loved red wheelbarrow to haul items in}. There is access to a bigger fire pit “M & M fire pit”, and a propane grill option (this is first come first serve/sharing spot). More campsites developing over time and there is a massage practitioner on site if you are looking for the whole experience (29 years experience in healing modalities and shamanic blood line). If you are looking to experience nature cabin style then, “The Minor Escape” is for you. This has a full refrigerator, full stand up filtered water shower, kitchen sink, separate master, two bedroom lofts with ladder access, kitchen sink, ceiling fans, window a/c units for summer and space heaters for winter (Eden pure heater that shows fireplace flames). Our family loves this land and there is always new areas being cultivated in various spots. You will see us out there either with our hobby farm of animals, gardening or building a new area. Laura and Bill did an excellent job at making sure our needs were met. The grounds are on a small lake, it's very quiet and rustic. The bathrooms were clean and functional, the grouunds were clean. There were only a few other people booked that night, so we had our choice of spots and even moved a couple of times. Laura checked in on us a couple of times through the evening to make sure we had what we needed. It was my firs time camping in my Tesla, and this site was great for that. I live in Atlanta, so just wanted somewhere to get out of the city, take my dogs, and enjoy nature, and this hit the spot. Thanks Laura and Bill for a great stay!!

Great place to get away in Georgia! My family enjoyed our stay here in the quiet spot. The full hookup worked great and the spot was plenty big for our travel trailer, 23ft. Pulling into the spot was easy and it wasn’t too bad backing out. A larger RV would require an expert driver to back out of this spot due to surrounding trees and bend in the road. I would highly recommend this spot

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. I received a tour of the campsite and was able to pick my spot. Bill moved the picnic table to the area I chose to camp at. The property was clean although I was told there was no hot water in the shower. But it was so hot outside the cool water was welcoming. The land and sites are beautiful. Especially the sun setting and rising off the lake.

Had a great little visit at this RV park, pulling in was easy going and the electric hook ups were as described! Another bonus is that the park did offer us the ability to use their new outdoor shower which had great water pressure and very hot and cold water! It was also very cool to see their creative and handmade approach to everything they have built and are planning on building! Especially hearing their plans of putting a swimming pool on the roof of the big building.

Roads need lots of work and low hanging branches aren’t good for big rigs. We managed to get our 42 ft with tow in but were very concerned about getting back out! No big problems, hit bottom a couple of times but managed to get through very tight gate at the exit without scratches on our rig. Lovely spot but obvious owner has lost interest. They mentioned it was for sale!!

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Our host met us shortly after we arrived and gave us the skinny on everything. The site was in pristine shape, well defined, flat and graveled. The water and 50 amp service worked perfectly. This is a working farm and has goats, sheep, and donkeys along with a very friendly and well-fed dog named Gordo. It was a nice open area surrounded by trees. The evenings were quiet with fireflies near the tree line. There is a very nice fire ring, although we used our free standing propane fire pit at night. Everything about our stay was perfect. If you are going to be near the area, I would strongly encourage you to book a stay here.

This national historic site that honors a true hero of the Civil Rights Movement. You can visit King's childhood home, his final resting place, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church (all within a 5-minute walk of the Visitor Center). The Visitor Center contains beautifully curated materials to walk you through King's story. Make sure you watch the 30-minute video on his life (and don't be surprised if you feel some tears welling up). Prepare to spend some time at the church, where videos of King's sermons and speeches are on a loop.

A ticket is required to visit King's childhood home. The tour is definitely worthwhile, led by Park Rangers who really evoke the time period. Tours are small, limited to 15 people, and you can only buy tickets on the day of your visit, so be prepared to wait in line. While there's no restaurant on site, nearby spots will serve up some of the best peach cobbler you've ever tasted.
