The Herb'n Soul Sanctuary is designed to be a sanctuary -- a sacred space for rest, renewal, and relaxation. The Sanctuary welcomes all. Your glamp-site is located in the center of a pine-oak-hickory-poplar forest adjacent to our active urban farming family, where we grow fruits and veggies, and raise goats, chickens, ducks and bees. The entire property is about 10 acres. But don't let the seclusion fool you! We are a 30min ride to the airport. You can enjoy a walk through our labyrinth that has over 80 blueberry bushes surrounding it. As an extra, you can have a tour of our family farm. Stone Mountain Park is also a short drive or bike ride from here, where there is hiking, paddling, golf, and amusement rides available. For a more local experience, the Pine Lake Beach is just a 1.5 miles away. It's a beautiful site for swimming and fishing. New to camping and not sure that you can cook an adequate meal over a fire? No problem. This site provides access to the best of country luxury alongside the city conveniences of DoorDash and UberEats, all in one place. We have a propane heater for the colder months and 2 battery powered fans for hot days.

Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill. Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials. We are working towards: Total energy and water independence Total structural material independence Food independence via aquaponic farming Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet. Teaching people so they can teach others and pay it forward. Come support our mission by staying with us. Help out with your building or farming or engineering skills if you like. Naturally tax deductible financial donations are always helpful and help speed our progress.

When I moved onto Windy Lane as a child in third grade, our road was a country dirt road. I have a lot more neighbors now, but my little piece of heaven has remained country.  My husband, Randy and I enjoy the peace and quiet we get and the plus of being close to the Interstate for when we need to make trips to Atlanta.  My land is still surrounded by a fence, now rusted, that my Daddy put up when I was a child. The property is big enough for us to enjoy and small enough for us to maintain.  My wildlife camera has captured photos of deer, coyotes, foxes, opossums, raccoons and an occasional dog and cat from the neighborhood.  We hope you will stop by and visit with us. Safe travels and may the road rise to meet you and the wind be at your back!Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent in your favorite spot on our 5+ acre lot. Our niche is privacy and our cute little Nigerian Dwarf goats grazing nearby. Once you are on our property, you will quickly forget you are just a mile from Interstate 75. We are located off Exit 205 and are 40 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles north of Macon. We are just 5 miles from High Falls State Park and Indian Springs State Park (where kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, etc. are available). We are just 3 miles from Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary and 6 miles from Dauset Trails Nature Center. Both are must sees for animal lovers. If you love stockcar racing, we are just 18 miles from Atlanta Motor Speedway. Activities there aren't just for "race weekends."If shopping is more "your thing," we are just 7 miles south of Tanger Outlet Mall in Locust Grove, Georgia.

We own a small farm on 64 total acres with around 59 wooded. We have 4 primitive camping sites with lots of woods, wildlife, and two small creeks. We are even located on a short dirt road to give you that country feel. All of our sites are spread out from one another and you will feel secluded in the woods with nature. On our farm are free range chickens, peacocks, goats and a donkey in a pasture, turkeys (wild and domesticated), honeybees (in the field), and a few outdoor cats. We enjoy our animals and nature. We want to share this experience with others so we have decided to rent a few camping spots that we have shared over the years with our children. Enjoy the peaceful nights and the sounds of nature and star lit skies. In the daytime check out our farm animals, walk the trails, or explore the woods. Guest are welcome to pet and feet the animals if they choose. We are conveniently located less than two miles from a Dollar General, three miles from several restaurants right of I75, 8 miles to nearest Walmart, under 20 minutes to High Falls State Park, under 25 minutes to Dauset Trails Nature Center, and under 30 minutes to Indian Springs State Park. All of this located close to our property while being only 3 miles from the I75 on ramp at exit 205.

It is 20.54 acres peacefully located between big land owners on each side, and a creek that runs through the middle that separates north from south pieces. Our trails are groomed and some just deer worn. We have one camp site that is rural and rustic. There is a bucket for the restroom and antique, old white kitchen sink for hand washing just outside it. There is no running water yet, but working on getting a water reservoir out there asap. No electricity yet a single power cord could be run for extra $10.00 for your visit. There is a fire pit close to the tent spot on, “Skip’s Campsite”. Another camp site” Aqua-Fine-A” that has a walk in creek access, and you have to cross the creek to get to that one. It is farther away from “Skip’s bathroom access. It has a more established flag stone fire pit. It is our original primitive sight. There is no water reservoir or possibility of electricity at “Aqua-Fine-A” campsite. Everything must be packed in and out on foot. Both sights require a hike to campsites on foot with uneven rooted trails. {You are welcome to use our well loved red wheelbarrow to haul items in}. There is access to a bigger fire pit “M & M fire pit”, and a propane grill option (this is first come first serve/sharing spot). More campsites developing over time and there is a massage practitioner on site if you are looking for the whole experience (29 years experience in healing modalities and shamanic blood line). If you are looking to experience nature cabin style then, “The Minor Escape” is for you. This has a full refrigerator, full stand up filtered water shower, kitchen sink, separate master, two bedroom lofts with ladder access, kitchen sink, ceiling fans, window a/c units for summer and space heaters for winter (Eden pure heater that shows fireplace flames). Our family loves this land and there is always new areas being cultivated in various spots. You will see us out there either with our hobby farm of animals, gardening or building a new area. I am a teacher, guide, artist, and healer. This land is sacred and magical. It is used to heal, restore, inspire and rejuvenate many locally and internationally.

Camping in Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site guide

Overview

About

This national historic site that honors a true hero of the Civil Rights Movement. You can visit King's childhood home, his final resting place, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church (all within a 5-minute walk of the Visitor Center). The Visitor Center contains beautifully curated materials to walk you through King's story. Make sure you watch the 30-minute video on his life (and don't be surprised if you feel some tears welling up). Prepare to spend some time at the church, where videos of King's sermons and speeches are on a loop.

A ticket is required to visit King's childhood home. The tour is definitely worthwhile, led by Park Rangers who really evoke the time period. Tours are small, limited to 15 people, and you can only buy tickets on the day of your visit, so be prepared to wait in line. While there's no restaurant on site, nearby spots will serve up some of the best peach cobbler you've ever tasted.

Find glamping, hostels and suburban cabins for your Atlanta stay on Hipcamp. You can also pitch your tent on nearby farms, next to picturesque lakes, or on horse ranches.
