Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Escape to more than 18 private acres along the Tallapoosa River, reserved exclusively for your group. Choose your own campsite beneath the trees, fish, swim, kayak, and gather around a fire under the stars. This is a primitive, self-contained retreat with no toilet or potable water. Guests must bring a camp toilet and all needed water. An SUV or small truck with adequate ground clearance is strongly recommended; passenger cars are not recommended. The Tallapoosa Hideaway: Wilderness Retreat Leave the noise behind. Rediscover adventure. Hidden along a secluded stretch of the Tallapoosa River in West Georgia, The Tallapoosa Hideaway: Wilderness Retreat offers more than 18 private acres reserved exclusively for your group. No neighboring campers. No crowded campground. Just you, the river, and room to explore. The river borders the property on three sides, creating nearly 3,000 feet of river frontage surrounded by hardwood and pine forests, quiet creek banks, abundant wildlife, and hundreds of acres of neighboring timberland. There are no numbered campsites here. This is a primitive, choose-your-own-site experience where you can explore the property and select the setting that feels right for your group. Spend your days fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddling, exploring, or simply resting beside the river. When evening comes, gather around a campfire beneath the stars and enjoy the kind of quiet that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Bring your kayak or canoe and launch directly from the property. Paddle downstream to Dub Denman Canoe Trail Public Access #1 on Popular Springs Road—approximately a six-hour trip depending on river conditions—or launch upstream at Highway 27 for an approximately 2½-hour float back to camp. Please arrive prepared for primitive camping. No restroom or potable water is provided. Guests must bring a self-contained camp toilet and enough water for drinking, cooking, and washing. If you plan to bring a trailer, please contact us before booking so we can confirm that it is suitable for the property’s unpaved access. Our family has loved this special place for years, and we are grateful to share it with people who appreciate privacy, natural beauty, and meaningful time together. We work hard to provide a clean, peaceful retreat where guests can slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. Planning a family gathering, reunion, church outing, or special celebration? Send us a message, and we will be glad to discuss whether the property is the right fit. We look forward to welcoming you to The Tallapoosa Hideaway: Wilderness Retreat.
