Moss and Sons welcomes one registered group at a time to slow down and enjoy a little time together. Choose our day-use site or the overnight campsite for a longer visit. Kayaking is optional. Fishing here is mainly wade fishing: plan on wading to reach most fishing spots. Our family usually fishes upstream and downstream when conditions allow. Fishing from the bank is possible but difficult and, in our experience, usually produces small bream. This is not an easy bank-fishing spot for a child’s first outing. Ask us about current conditions before booking if fishing is your main reason for visiting. Only enter the river when conditions and your group’s abilities allow; water depth and current change with rainfall and the season. Catches are not guaranteed. The river is natural and unmonitored. Water level, current, mud, debris, weather, and water quality can change quickly, especially after rain. There is no designated swimming area, lifeguard, water-quality testing, shuttle, guide, watercraft rental, route monitoring, or rescue service. Guests must evaluate current conditions, directly supervise children near the water, and use properly fitted life jackets whenever appropriate. DAY USE ONLY. NO OVERNIGHT STAY. Bring the rods and a picnic for a private wade-fishing day beside the Tallapoosa River near Buchanan, Georgia. Spend time together, take a lunch break under the covered pavilion, watch wildlife, and head home that evening. One registered group at a time. Fishing here is mainly wade fishing: plan on wading to reach most fishing spots. Fishing from the bank is possible but difficult and, in our family’s experience, usually produces small bream. This is not an easy bank-fishing spot for a child’s first outing. Ask about current conditions before booking if fishing is the main reason for your visit. Only enter the river when conditions and your group’s abilities allow. Bring your own fishing gear and check current fishing rules. Catches are not guaranteed. Kayaking is optional; you are welcome to enjoy a picnic and time beside the river without entering the water. Access is from 8 AM to 7 PM on the arrival date. Check in between 8 AM and 3 PM. All guests, boats and vehicles must leave by 7 PM that same day. The one-night calendar display does not extend access. The host rate includes four guests. Each additional adult or child is $5, up to eight guests total; Hipcamp service fees also apply. Enter your dates and full guest count to review the total before booking. Maximum two vehicles. Your registered group may enjoy the deck, pavilion and wooded river setting, picnic and watch wildlife. Bring your own kayak, canoe or tube for a self-guided floating trip. Registered guests may use the private river access as a put-in or take-out during their reservation. Plan your route, confirm lawful access at your other launch or landing, and arrange your own return transportation before setting out. This reservation provides property access; any off-property float is self-directed. A private, enclosed rustic pit toilet near the camping area provides privacy and a toilet seat but has no running water or flushing plumbing. Potable water is available separately at a spigot. No campfires or open flames. Watercraft, equipment, accommodation in the pictured camper, rentals, shuttles and guides are not included. Moss and Sons does not provide route monitoring, rescue service, a fixed float time, a water-safety guarantee or a promise of secure parking. This is reserved private access, not a public boat launch. The natural river is unmonitored. Levels, current, mud, debris, weather and water quality can change quickly, especially after rain. Do not enter during thunderstorms, flood alerts, high or swift water, or uncertain runoff. Children require direct adult supervision. Properly fitted life jackets are strongly recommended near or on the water. The gravel driveway is steep; four-wheel drive is recommended when wet or soft. Stay within marked guest areas; the historic bridge is closed to guests. Keep pets leashed and pack out all trash.

The Tallapoosa Hideaway

The river right next to the site was so nice. It was great to have the deck and the covered area that we used as a camp kitchen. We put up two tents around the fire ring and had plenty of room. Access to the river is direct and easy. There was an area the dogs were able to use to get in and out as well. It wasn’t muddy and we didn't have any trouble getting to the site in our 2wd trucks. The provided directions were very clear and easy to follow. The neighbors do have a driveway that passes near the site, but they weren't disruptive or traveling in and out after quiet hours.
