The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views, a half mile of river and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote! Come swim, fish, cook and play! PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout. Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15 Please contact us in advance regarding paying for firewood ($7/5 pieces), dogs ($15 each), day vehicle visitors ($30), private farm tour ($15/person) and/or a private porta potty ($120). thank you! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. Contact Catherine directly so you can be checked in safely and accommodate your schedule. LIMITED CHECK-INS AFTER DARK. We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Asheville is 20 miles to our East.

Recently renovated using locally mined boulders, this site is now accessible by road or walking from your car down a stone path (15 yards) to a pea gravel campsite with a firepit and picnic table. Suited for 3 cars maximum and 1 very small overland trailer.

Glamping elevated in the Smoky Mountains of western NC! Our 40' by 24' deck offers a play on the open air 'cabin'. The enclosed conditioned space boasts a private full ensuite bathroom, king sized bed, ceiling fan, heat/ac, kitchenette, refrigerator and freezer drawers, cooktop, convection toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker and wall mounted fireplace. For an open air experience, draw open the 10' wide glass garage door to the deck and sweeping mountain views. Cable railing, an in-deck hammock and sleek furniture keep the space unobstructed conveying a feeling of floating on air! Additionally, a lovely large boulder and pea gravel patio with adirondack chairs, chaise lounge chairs, a propane firepit and propane BBQ round out the experience. Unlimited pets are allowed; $40 for the first and $20 each additional however we do make exceptions for toy breeds. We will accept payment upon arrival. Parking for 17* N is up our private gravel farm road and two vehicles are permitted with your reservation. Our location is 1 mile off of I 40 though you cannot hear the traffic. No need to navigate winding mountain roads to paradise; simply book and enjoy all that nature and the mountains have to offer.

We had the most beautiful and magical family camping experience because this property was just perfect. The owners were wonderful and kind and helpful, and just all around great. We would 100/10 recommend other families or solo travelers to definitely stay here for sure. We’ll be coming back with our whole extended family next summer!! Thankful the land owners share their beautiful property with us all to enjoy!

5 Troutfall Deck
Tent camping at Troutfall was a true reprieve. My family especially appreciated the privacy and quiet, and the shade over so much of the day. The whole farm is so well kept and cared for that we were continually impressed— at one point we needed a stick to move a spider and legitimately could not find one on the ground for several minutes. Their pig pens didn’t even smell. And the firefly show every evening was incredible! We will be back.

Site 4 Shooting Shed
What a magical spot this property offers! I feel full of gratitude for all of the moments we enjoyed: visiting the animals and noticing the tiny piglets scurrying after their mama, taking the long walk to put in tubes at the top of the property and enjoying the gorgeous meadow, relaxing into the slow and steady water - a welcome relief from some serious heat this week, walking up the hill to see the sky change color in the evening, and returning to waves of fireflies twinkling over the grass and up in the trees, mimicked by the occasional shooting star. The mist in the morning is other worldly. Worries I had (how far will the porta john be?), will there be enough shade, how many mosquitoes will we smack…. Turned out to not to be issues at all. Catherine gave us a great welcome. Camp neighbors are spread out and kind. Cows bathe in the water on the far side of the river - a fun sight each morning from this spot. Entry to the water from the shooting shed site is a bit mucky, and there is still debris in the river: wear solid water shoes and it’s fine. Tubing upstream a bit felt less worrisome re cows, and if water play is our goal, I’d book rocks or rapids next time. And there will be a next time! Shooting shed site has perfect trees for hammocks and a fantastic location for fireflies, lawn games, and cover for your kitchen! Also a great location for viewing the pigs. We can’t wait to return, with friends!

My husband, dog, and I loved our stay here. It was a well thought through camp, with lots of space between sites so you don't feel like you're right on top of the person near you. It was quiet, and we could hear the creek from our camp site which was lovely to fall asleep to! Our dog LOVED meeting their dog Stetson and exploring the farm. You can feel the love and care Catherine and Rick put into their farm :) We especially loved that they are raising Mangalista pigs and when we bought some lard from their farm, it came with a hand out explaining how to use, the history behind it, and recipes to try, which I loved. A special place. We stayed at site 8. Full 360 degree views. Lots to do near by; we went hiking and visited the local town. We caught three trout on the river too.

We absolutely loved this place! It’s a beautiful farm with a river running through it, and the setting is incredibly peaceful and scenic. We stayed at the Troutfall Deck, which felt very private and offered some of the best views on the property. One of our favorite parts was watching the cows come down to the river to swim in the mornings. We also enjoyed fishing in the river and tubing . The whole experience was quiet, relaxing, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The owners were super friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even better. After two years of camping at different locations, this is our favorite spot so far. We will definitely be back!

This camp spot was absolutely amazing. It was so peaceful, and even though there is other campsites, it was so quiet and felt secluded the owners keep the property up beautifully. We loved seeing the pigs play in the mud and the awesome donkeys. It was very convenient to the porta potty. We definitely will be back. The owners got back to us with any questions we had and we felt very welcomed!

This was an outstanding campsite. I stayed at site 1 and it was right on the river with a small beach giving you private access to swim. While site 2 is right next door, the sites feel private and you have your own slice of the river to enjoy. Site 1 has a table and fire pit as well as a gravel area for your rig. It was an extraordinary property and from the moment I got there, I could feel the love that Catherine and her husband give to the land. The pigs were so fun, my dog was obsessed with them. The views all over the property were gorgeous. We walked every possible path and had such a great time exploring. Views from the higher points of the property are unreal, especially at sunset. The hosts are friendly, genuine, and caring. The space is beautiful and well maintained. There is so much to see without leaving the campsite. I camp a lot and this might be my favorite trip I've ever taken I can't wait to return. Thank you Catherine and Rick!!!

There likely is not much else to be said since all the reviews are so good. But there truly is no reason to camp anywhere else in NC. This is the place to be. We will be back 100 more times.

Site 4 Shooting Shed
Fabulous, peaceful, beautiful spot. The farm is very well run and we loved seeing the animals and gorgeous sunset. Campsites are private and the farm is so huge that campers have plenty of space.

Relaxing riverside camping

Site 3 Rapids
We loved this ranch and Site 3 Rapids. It's next to Site 1 Rocks but far enough away that it felt private. With careful maneuvering of our teardrop, we were able to camp right next to the river. We slept with only the screen doors and the sounds of the rapids provided the best night's sleep. The donkeys loved to peer over their fence at us. The other animals were a short walk away. Catherine and Rick are gracious hosts, and we bought some pork from them to bring home. The Smoky Mtn Mangalitsa River Ranch is a magical place and we will return.

Site 7 Meadow
Had a great stay at the meadow site. There was plenty of space for my group of 6 with 3 tents and 2 cars, and the site was fairly secluded. Great stargazing and lots of fireflies at night too! One of the livestock guardians, Stetson, came over to check us out and say hi, very sweet dog. Would love to come back.

Such a gorgeous farm and area to stay!! Catherine was so nice and we absolutely adored the visits from Stetson. The land is so well kept and cared for and you can definitely see all of the hard work that they put into it. Definitely hope to go back and visit again in the future. Added bonus: we were able to enjoy watching the Canadian geese and cows play in the river each day.

This was the most beautiful spot and perfect location with farm animals the creek perfect weather I couldn’t have been more happy with my experience me and my kids loved it. You were for sure. Be back.

The campsite was awesome. We loved it. It was our daughter's first camping trip she had wonderful time with all the animals and the river and everything as well.

We really enjoyed our stay at Site 2 in our travel trailer. It’s a beautiful spot to spend some time and really peaceful even though it rained (hard!) for portions of our stay. The hosts are friendly and the communication from the start was great. Would highly recommend.

Wow!! What a great experience! Conveniently located near rte 40 and the blue ridge parkway, yet you felt 100 miles from civilization! Absolutely beautiful! We were greeted by Stetson (The Riverside Ranger) lol, the sweetest dog every morning, afternoon and night, and the cows who come down into the river from a neighboring ranch! The views of the ranch, hills and river were amazing! The hosts, couldnt of been mor nice & genuine. Actually

Beautiful farm on picturesque stretch of the Pigeon River. Site 8 was very isolated with views of the mountains and valley. Would 100% return.

Literally amazing! You’re right on the water with Site 1 and a short walk to the donkeys and pigs. We loved to walk and visit them. The whole property is stunning. Catherine is so nice and welcoming. Stetson the farm dog came to visit us each night and morning and it was always a fun surprise. It’s really such a special place.

My New Favorite Spot!

Site 9 Lower Hilltop 4WD
The views from Site #9 were beautiful! The fire flies were out in abundance, the air was fresh and the natural setting was exactly what I needed. The hosts were awesome! Would highly recommend SMRR for anyone visiting the Asheville area. Cheers! KR

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Beautiful, serene, and quiet, a perfect family campground. Our kiddo loved being right on the river and going to say hi to the donkeys, horses, goats, and of course the furry pigs! We met Catherine who was so down to earth. We are already planning to visit again this year! Highly recommend!

The property is so peaceful, beautiful, and well cared for while still feeling natural and secluded. You can tell the owners genuinely care about the land and the experience they create. It was exactly the kind of place that reminds you to slow down and enjoy being outside. And so many fluffy pigs!!
