The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views, a half mile of river and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote! Come swim, fish, cook and play!
PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout.
Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking.
Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too!
All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites.
Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15
Please contact us in advance regarding paying for firewood ($7/5 pieces), dogs ($15 each), day vehicle visitors ($30), private farm tour ($15/person) and/or a private porta potty ($120). thank you!

Update on Fire ban: I spoke with the forest ranger of Yadkin County, and You ARE allowed SMALL campfires for cooking and heating purposes only. No bonfires. Charcoal and propane grills are OK too.
Please respect our land by not bringing firewood from off-site and burning it here. We are a working farm that allows camping, not a campground. Our native trees and crops could easily be devastated by outside diseases or pests that are carried in firewood. We offer firewood for sale from our farm (delivered to your site for no additional fee). You do NOT have to purchase it prior to your arrival, and we have large tubs too!
Our STORE offers firewood, meats, eggs, Tallow, lard (both rendered right here!), drinks, Amish ice cream and jams/jellies/preserves, hammocks, hammock chairs, smoked dog bones, soaps (made right here), rentals of: cast iron cookware, a tent, Coleman stove, fishing poles, ... and MUCH MORE!
Please note that all our sites are reserved with a one vehicle limit. Some sites are large enough to accommodate additional vehicles but each additional vehicle will incur a $10 per night charge. Free parking for additional vehicles is located at the office/store.

Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 160 acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣

The Sacred Oasis is located in the Cowee Mountains, 10 minutes from downtown Franklin.
Offering 3 primitive creekside camping sites and a semi-off-grid tiny home!

The tiny home has electricity, a refrigerator, a queen-size bed, a TV with DVDs ONLY, water, an outdoor shower, and a composting toilet.
I offer a VERY private camping/lodging experience; however, I do live on-site and will be available to answer any questions that arise. Or you may see me watering plants and feeding the chickens and goats. But I always respect my guests' privacy!
Only 10 minutes from the closest grocery store and entertainment. Right next door is the Old Cardinal Gem Mine, offering an amazing, welcoming gem mining experience! There are so many fun experiences to be had in this area of WNC. It’s truly a hidden gem.
While still close to town, the sounds of nature and (roosters) can be heard. I have a small homestead with some chickens and two goats. I'm always happy to introduce my guest to them.
During the spring and summer, the plant biodiversity in this area is like no other! Have fun identifying all the different plants and mushrooms.
-A composting toilet is available (located behind the Tiny Home), and the outdoor shower is available during the spring and summer months. Please follow the given instructions on how to use the composting toilet and outdoor shower.
-Biodegradable soap, shampoo, and conditioner only. I will have some available.
-If any questions arise, please do not hesitate to text or call me.
Please bring your own camping supplies and water. There is no running water on the campsites. Do not use the creek for washing dishes! Garbage cans will be at each camping site. Please take all trash with you on your way out! (No littering)

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. The beach is bigger in winter, smaller in summer. These changes make the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer
PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’!
We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’.
As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult.
During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state.
We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks.
We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers.
Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit.
Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding.
Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe.
Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property.
It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance
Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc.
Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars.
We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas.
Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses.

All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe!
Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent.
Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard.
We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John
and a list of dump stations nearby.
Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions.
Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival).
Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs
(American Viticultural Area).

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014.
Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top.
Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach.
When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains.
Perfect!
In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home.
As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage,
that was outside of our budget continued to pop up.
Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back.
At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop.
On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin
just because we had the time.
Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy.
It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right?
We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer.
It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim.
We offered the most that we could get a loan for.
They accepted!
I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014.
Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place.

Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker.
If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away. Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp. Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool. Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville. We love taking our kids there.

On arrival you'll come down our curvy driveway through the trees, and see our event barn on the left. To the barn's side is a communal space for campers to enjoy with a great view. This area has a wood-fired grill and farm table, with a handwashing station out front. The shared outhouse/composting toilet is next to the pine stand with a white roof.
We have sheep, pigs and a donkey rotating through pastures behind electric fencing. Take a walk to say hello, but don't touch the fence! We also have 3 very friendly farm cats.
Pork and lamb from our farm (as well as kiln-dried firewood) is available for purchase at our farm store.

Our farm is vast and sparse,
focusing on sustainability while giving back to the community. We are a safe haven for animals and humans alike.
Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend)
If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close.
Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. Canter Lakes Farm offers waterfront camping on 47 acres. We are a private horse farm with beautiful swimming lakes and river access on site via “Sand Hill Creek”
At canter lakes farm you can explore over 10 acres of water without ever leaving our property, and hike almost 3 miles of manicured trails here! If you’re an early riser you can witness the magnificent steam rolling in over the lakes, creek and cypress swamp while you sip your coffee at sunrise. Bring your paddle boards and cruise, or warm up with sunny yoga on your private dock. Kayak or John boats can explore the river bends from our property, or even make it out to the big wide cape fear.
We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards.
Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining.
Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars.
Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture.
Tent camping or dry rv camping only at this time. Hot Shower, sink and full size toilet are provided in the bath house. No feeding of the horses allowed, or entering fencing. campers are welcome to visit or partake in farm experience with permission.

10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft.
Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising
cattle and other farm animals.
The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's.
The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows.
The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's.
While many tobacco barns in the area have been
torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to
restore the barn and preserve its history.

Please be aware we are not completely cleared up after Hurricane Helene so we are limiting cars to 2 per site. There is parking about a mile away, or we can fit a 2 cars per site . If this is an issue please contact me to discuss. Also note we look a little different. The campsites are fine but the creek has changed its banks and the driving path moved a little. Please drive slowly on driveway and grounds.
Drones are only allowed on our property and only in daylight hours and must be discussed with us prior.
Our farm is Organic and we minimize the amount of chemicals used on it out of respect to the land. The creek has clean water, although we provide well water for the humans.
Situated 20 minutes from Asheville and 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, we are close to civilization and far from the everyday hustle and bustle.
This is a great place to unwind in nature. We will soon be adding Forest Bathing.
The frogs eat most of the mosquitos and the fireflies will provide the nightly entertainment from May till August.

We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. Only 10 minutes from the closest grocery store and entertainment. Right next door is the Old Cardinal Gem Mine, offering an amazing, welcoming gem mining experience! There are so many fun experiences to be had in this area of WNC. It’s truly a hidden gem.
While still close to town, the sounds of nature and (roosters) can be heard. I have a small homestead with some chickens and two goats. I'm always happy to introduce my guest to them.
During the spring and summer, the plant biodiversity in this area is like no other! Have fun identifying all the different plants and mushrooms.
-A composting toilet is available (located behind the Tiny Home), and the outdoor shower is available during the spring and summer months. Please follow the given instructions on how to use the composting toilet and outdoor shower.

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. The beach is bigger in winter, smaller in summer. These changes make the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

During your stay at our farm, guests can unwind amidst natural surroundings, visit with our animals, enjoy on farm activities and explore the wide variety of local attractions that the surrounding area has to offer.
Just 30 minutes west, you’ll find the Blue Ridge Parkway. Kerr Scott Lake is only 10 minutes away, where you can swim, rent kayaks and pontoon boats, fish, or enjoy mountain biking and hiking on extensive trails. Prayer Mountain is about 2 miles up the road.
To the east, explore several wineries and a local moonshine distillery. A half-hour away, visit the Amish community with shops like Shiloh Bakery and General Store (closed Sundays and Mondays).
For fantastic hiking, head northeast to Stone Mountain, about 45 minutes away, which also features a renovated homestead. To the south, Rocky Face Park offers hiking and rock climbing, while Emerald Hollow Mine allows you to search for and keep precious stones.

We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’.
As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult.
During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state.
We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks.
We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers.
Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit.
Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding.
Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe.
Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property.
It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance
Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc.
Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars.
We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas.
Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses.

All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe!
Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent.
Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard.
We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John
and a list of dump stations nearby.
Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions.
Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival).

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014.
Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top.
Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach.
When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains.
Perfect!
In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home.
As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage,
that was outside of our budget continued to pop up.
Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back.
At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop.
On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin
just because we had the time.
Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy.
It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right?
We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer.
It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim.
We offered the most that we could get a loan for.
They accepted!
I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014.
Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place.

Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker.
If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away. Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp. Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool. Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville. We love taking our kids there.
We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. The site backs up to over 100 acres of forest for a truly wilderness feel just outside of town.

Our farm is vast and sparse,
focusing on sustainability while giving back to the community. We are a safe haven for animals and humans alike.
Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend)
If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close.

Canter Lakes Farm offers waterfront camping on 47 acres. We are a private horse farm with beautiful swimming lakes and river access on site via “Sand Hill Creek”
At canter lakes farm you can explore over 10 acres of water without ever leaving our property, and hike almost 3 miles of manicured trails here! If you’re an early riser you can witness the magnificent steam rolling in over the lakes, creek and cypress swamp while you sip your coffee at sunrise. Bring your paddle boards and cruise, or warm up with sunny yoga on your private dock. Kayak or John boats can explore the river bends from our property, or even make it out to the big wide cape fear.
We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards.
Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining.
Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars.
Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture.
Tent camping or dry rv camping only at this time. Hot Shower, sink and full size toilet are provided in the bath house. No feeding of the horses allowed, or entering fencing. campers are welcome to visit or partake in farm experience with permission.

10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft.
Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising
cattle and other farm animals.
The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's.
The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows.
The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's.
While many tobacco barns in the area have been
torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to
restore the barn and preserve its history.

Please be aware we are not completely cleared up after Hurricane Helene so we are limiting cars to 2 per site. There is parking about a mile away, or we can fit a 2 cars per site . If this is an issue please contact me to discuss. Also note we look a little different. The campsites are fine but the creek has changed its banks and the driving path moved a little. Our farm is Organic and we minimize the amount of chemicals used on it out of respect to the land. The creek has clean water, although we provide well water for the humans.
Situated 20 minutes from Asheville and 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, we are close to civilization and far from the everyday hustle and bustle.
This is a great place to unwind in nature. We will soon be adding Forest Bathing.
The frogs eat most of the mosquitos and the fireflies will provide the nightly entertainment from May till August.

Our farm is a beautiful, private 25 acres with an 1830s house, outbuildings, animals, orchards, gardens, pastures, old trees, wildlife habitat, a spring, and woods. Here you can relax; watch nature; meet our chickens, goats, horse, cats, and dog; take guided tours to learn about the farm, animals, plants, archaeology, and history or learn to make mead; and purchase eggs and homegrown seasonal food and products. Listen to birdsong and watch clouds during the day, wander a path through our 5 acres of woods, see fireflies in the evening, and star watch at night. Nearby are hiking, horseback riding, historical sites, fishing, antiques, breweries, shooting, and more.
We are located in a rural area and have many different domesticated and wild animals so you may hear diverse animal noises and see or smell animal poop, although we try to keep things clean and tidy. Our neighbors have dogs, cattle, and chickens/roosters and occasionally shoot guns during daylight hours (one neighbor is a sporting club with skeet shooting and hunting dogs) but typically our farm is a quiet and peaceful place. We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

Our property is a private 25 acre forestry plot connected to an adjoining 130 acre family-owned plot, with only 1 house on the 150+ acres. Most of the land is wooded with a couple large fields. Long private driveway. 3+ miles of private maintained walking trails great for human and dog guests! There are a number of creeks that run on the property and a decent size pond with many species of birds- perfect for watching while having a morning coffee, or for an afternoon stint of fishing.
Close proximity to downtown Carrboro and Chapel Hill (12-15 minutes), 15 minutes to downtown Hillsborough, and 25 minutes to Durham.

Second time here and absolutely love it! The views of the sunset and sunrise are amazing from either end of the property. Owners have cleared out little ‘beach’ areas and there are several kayaks, canoes, etc around. Having running water to use the bathroom and even shower is a huge bonus as all of the land is sandy. There is some semblance of road noise from nearby neighbors and a dirt bike track nearby, but nothing to deter from booking a stay- very peaceful and quiet at night!
The owners are super responsive, helpful, and friendly. We will continue booking to help make their farm a dream!

My boys & I had a great time at Canter Lakes Farm! Arriving, the address can kind of sneak up on you. Luckily, the owner sent very detailed instructions on how to get there beforehand so there was very little confusion. The site we stayed at was both isolated for privacy and easy to get to, and just a short, and very scenic, walk to fresh water. The views of the lakes are great, and the owner is super friendly. Would definitely visit again!

The Live Oak site was beautiful and secluded which I always look for. The hosts were so kind and helpful along the way, even got to see two mini ponies that came to visit the campsite which was such a treat for my kids to see and experience. I am a local, always looking for cool spots to enjoy nature with my family and will certainly book again!! My favorite hip camp stay this far.

Beautiful campsite and an amazing experience overall. The location was peaceful, scenic, and exactly what we were hoping for. The owner was incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive to any questions, which made everything even easier and more enjoyable. You can tell they really care about their guests and the property. Service, communication, and the overall atmosphere were all excellent. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

Barnhill mountain is an awesome place to set up camp to explore the Asheville. I've stayed here two separate times and would recommend it highly. Excellent views from the site, very private, and less than an hour drive from many, many great hikes in the area. Great spot to camp with dogs and Edwin is a fantastic host, making sure you have everything you need. I'm not sure I'll be in the area again for a while, but this one's definitely bookmarked!

This campsite was absolutely beautiful. There are three campsites on the property all waterfront and well spaced for ample privacy. There were two very clean port-o potty’s, nice picnic tables and fire rings at each site. We stayed at site one which was a nice flat patch nestled in a water-side forest. This is a good site if you have kids because it is in between a water pump, a bathroom and closest to the trails/beach area. There are several nice trails along the property that take you through a picturesque marsh. We saw a bald eagle among other cool wildlife. Spring was a good time to go because we saw little to no bugs. We had a wonderful time and hope to return some day.

The land was easy to access and was overall beautiful. There was some disturbance due to dirt bikes driving constantly for hours on the adjacent property, but this quieted down before night time. Overall good experience that I would suggest to others.

Overall:
Beautiful property. Many of the sites have some kind of water-a gentle stream to a more rapid-type water. Our site was near the rapid-type and the noise made my sleep amazing. The water sounds combined with the view of the sunlight hitting the green pastures against the mountain backdrop, the grazing animals, and the bird song really lent to such a peaceful joy. The morning visits from sweet Stetson were really just the best icing to it all.
Technical:
The portable toilets were really well-maintained. The potable water is easily accessible. The expectations were really clear and provided via a paper print-out.
Verdict:
I'll definitely be returning here.

I decided to take a last minute camping trip for the night from Wilmington (only 30 min away!) and was soo pleasantly surprised that this spot is so close to town but you truly feel super secluded! The site itself was well looked after and clean. I took one of the kayaks out and even caught a couple of bass on the pond! Was a great trip for my dog and I. We car camped but tent camping would totally work too! The ground is soft and sandy. Having a bath house with plumbing just a short walk away was also a huge plus!! Thanks yall for a great stay and I can’t wait to come back!
