If you are looking for interaction with the animals, or need supplies from the farm store, we open from 10-4 weekends only. You can purchase feed for the animals for $1/bag then. We have sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, turkeys, guinea pigs and geese! While we are dog-friendly, we do not allow dogs closer to the petting zoo area. We offer a 1+ acre fenced in area next to the camping sites where you can allow your dogs off-leash. No extra charge. We are within walking distance to Lake Tillary and less than 5 mins to the boat landing. You may bring your boat and park it here while you camp. SPECIAL NOTE: There are animals here that you may pet once you have been properly introduced. You may bring your pets as long as they are vaccinated and behaved. If they fight with other animals or chase chickens or ducks you may want to test this upon your arrival. Unfortunately, you must keep them on leash at all times. Our County does have a leash law, and should property🌱🌹🌻🚜🚗📬🗑or animals🦌🐂🐏🐐🐰🦃🦆 be damaged or harmed you will be held responsible. For example, if your dog kills a chicken, you buy the chicken🐓🐔🐥. SPECIAL FEATURE: As I am just beginning the camp on site experience I offer several options and additional services. #1. Some find out after arriving that I teach NC Concealed Carry Handgun Classes. If you wish to participate in a class, it is preferred that you register before the day of the class. I will post classes on this site so that campers will know there will be shooting in the late afternoon. Some chose to camp on other weekends, some choose to go out to eat during those times, and some don't mind either way. #2. I am also much in favor of work for camp site. Some have asked to do clean up or other small jobs for the priviledge to camp. So far this has worked out well, with one exception. Please do not accept an offer to take on a task that you do not know how to do. Example, pulling weeds or trimming if you do not know what a weed verses flower looks like. LOL #3. There is plenty of firewood, see photos, here laying around and some trees down that will make great firewood (bring your own cutting tools.) We also sell firewood by the bundle. #4. Being a camper here gives you the privilege of fresh veggies and fruits that are in season, as well as fresh free range eggs. MAJOR POINT: You must remember this is a working farm and our duties and responsibilities for the farm come first. You must abide by the boundaries. *see map* The creek is the back boundary and should never be crossed onto my neighbors. I will not tolerate any disrespect to my neighbors, what so ever. No! the roosters don't have an off button, neither does the jacka... donkey! When it is hay cutting time, we will cut hay. If you want to hike the property, feel free, know the boundaries and bring a machete to cut your way by the creek/stream in some areas. We have thistle trees and briars, you are welcome to cut all you wish as you go. There are spiders, bugs, and snakes etc. Black snakes, king snakes, runners, and whip snakes belong here and we ask that you do not kill them. Copperheads are here as qell and if you see one, come get me and I will dispatch it for you. .

Great spot! Just needed one night and didn’t want to go the traditional hotel route. Directions were on point, space was as described and it was a peaceful small getaway. Driving from Raleigh to Greensboro for a concert, this was the perfect car-camping spot for the night! The host had no issue with me checking in late-night; it's conveniently (not loudly) close to the highway, and you're downtown in 15 minutes. - Got a dog? Cheryl's got you! - Got a horse? Cheryl's got you! - Like critters? Cheryl's got you! - Need firewood? Cheryl's got you! For $25, I got a safe spot to camp for the night (with a picnic table and firepit!), to drink my coffee with a friendly kitty, as well as meet a bunch of sheep, ducks, geese, rabbits, guinea pigs, a turkey, and a couple of donkeys!

Beautiful property with variety of farm animals and endless relaxation at your fingertips! The cabin is not too far from the host’s home but feels secluded at the same time. They offer as much privacy as you would like while also being readily available to assist. Amazing garden with herbs and nuts to share! They even came out one evening to introduce us to their baby ducks and chickens. Outhouse is clean and well stocked. Absolutely loved cooking on the old stove! Highly recommend this spot! Camp site also looked amazing :)

Overview

About

Bring your ATV, dirt bike or off-road vehicle for fun in this small national forest. Trails are clearly marked, and watching off-roaders climb the rocks on the 390 trail is a religious experience.

If you rather rely on human power, there are plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails. You can also bring your horse. (Some equestrian and ATV trails overlap, so be careful!)

Badin Lake features catfish, bass, and crappie. Fish from your boat or a fishing pier—Or come on weekends from March through October for bass-fishing tournaments. Deer, turkey and squirrel hunting are also available during their seasons—Don't forget your license!

At the Arrowhead Campground, 33 of the 50 sites have electrical hookups for RVs. The Canebrake horse camp and Uwharrie hunting camp are open year-round for specialized camping. You'll have to hike in with your tent for the hunt camp. At Badin Lake, try for a lakeside spot!

Great base to explore the area

Arrowhead Campground

We stayed one night at Arrowhead Campground while checking out some of the nearby trails, including the Badin Lake Trail, which is just a short drive away and offers great views of the lake and surrounding forest. The campground itself is well laid out, with sites nicely spaced apart so it doesn’t feel crowded. The paved campground loops are in great shape and make driving through easy, even for larger rigs. Several areas offer pleasant views of Badin Lake, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. Overall, Arrowhead Campground felt quiet, clean, and well maintained—an excellent base camp for exploring the areas dispersed campsites on Moccasin creek road. Older national forest Campground without electric at the sites. It is nice enough and less crowded then Arrowhead. But is older and not as well kept as Arrowhead with is about the same price and right up the road. I like it since it is usually not crowded. We were coming through the area and wanted an alternative to the dusty camping over in the OHV area of the forest. We where happy with the West Morris Mountain Campground. This is a wonderful place to do both scheduled and primitive camping. Lots of things to explore and water provided for restrooms, drinking, and showers. They even have rec areas in walking distance with a surplus of restrooms and fishing.

There were a lot of homeless people living there which made me and my partner uncomfortable. We ended up staying a few miles down the road doing primitive camping at Baden Lake which even provided free drinking water, and showers for a small fee.

Have not camped there but the photo with this listing is deceptive. There is no lake view, or lake, near this campground. Seems decent for a site with minimal amenities. i.e. just vault toliets, picnic tables and fire rings.

Baden has it all. Lake, off road trails for Horses, atv and 4x4. Low cost and no entrance fee. Books up months ahead. Weekdays the best sites are usually. available.

A few of us stayed here in early December. Beautiful location! We stayed in site 29 and it had a view of the lake through the trees. It faces west, so we got a sunset over the water. Easily accessed trial from the campsite. We appreciated the well maintained restrooms and showers (though we didn’t use the showers). It’s a nice hike around the lake - flat but pretty. Many of the sites have a good view of the lake. Two poles to hang gear. Fire ring as well as a charcoal grill at each site.
