North of Marion, NC and just south of Linville, TangleWood Creekside Campsites offers something for everyone: primitive campsites, Safari Tents, a Little Log Cabin and a Tiny House with a wood-fired hot tub. 95% of our wooded sites are situated immediately beside a clear mountain stream and all are just minutes from the regions most famous local attractions for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The following are but a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; cruise the Blue Ridge parkway; pick apples at the Orchard at Altapss; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Tom’s Creek Falls or Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines or Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Sugar and Beech mountains make them each wonderful day-trip destinations as well.
We are happy to supply a comprehensive list upon request (including distance, drive time and links with directions) but there is also plenty of exploring to do right at here on site where nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our North Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor.

Update on Fire ban: I spoke with the forest ranger of Yadkin County, and You ARE allowed SMALL campfires for cooking and heating purposes only. No bonfires. Charcoal and propane grills are OK too.
Please respect our land by not bringing firewood from off-site and burning it here. We are a working farm that allows camping, not a campground. Our native trees and crops could easily be devastated by outside diseases or pests that are carried in firewood. We offer firewood for sale from our farm (delivered to your site for no additional fee). You do NOT have to purchase it prior to your arrival, and we have large tubs too!
Our STORE offers firewood, meats, eggs, Tallow, lard (both rendered right here!), drinks, Amish ice cream and jams/jellies/preserves, hammocks, hammock chairs, smoked dog bones, soaps (made right here), rentals of: cast iron cookware, a tent, Coleman stove, fishing poles, ... and MUCH MORE!
Please note that all our sites are reserved with a one vehicle limit. Some sites are large enough to accommodate additional vehicles but each additional vehicle will incur a $10 per night charge. Free parking for additional vehicles is located at the office/store.
Looking for a camping experience with a little luxury to boot? Look no further than our Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms! You can drive right up to most sites, weather permitting. You will have access to a fire ring and picnic table (located at each site), firewood for sale on site (please do not bring firewood from off-site), clean well water (located near the pond), the creek to explore, our stocked pond to fish, and wooded trails to hike. Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 160 acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣

Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too!
All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites.
Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15

Bald Eagles have been seen on April 27th, 2026! The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in both sunny and rainy weather. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system that allows guests and dogs to be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned frequently. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, etc. I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky. PMany of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful, please.
Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

This 5-acre parcel was part of a larger 17-acre tract/cow pasture that was for sale in the spring of 2017. We had moved to this beautiful quiet country road the year before after spending 15 years in the hustle and bustle of West Asheville. When our neighbor put the land up for sale, we jumped at the chance to protect our view (we live across the street) and own another piece of the heaven we have come to call home. This land has a creek running through it, and is in a quiet, rural, residential area that is a mix of newcomers and families who have lived here for generations. The property has a secluded feel to it while being very conveniently located to the wonderful hiking, mountain biking, and trout fishing this area is famous for. We’re also very close to cycle shops, outfitters, groceries, restaurants, etc. We love it here and are excited to develop our plan for this space. We hope you will love it here too.

Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall!
This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends!
We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee
If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November.
There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund.
Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm.
No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
No fireworks.
No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible)
Do not cut down trees alive or dead
If you move picnic tables please move them back
Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit.
There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down.
The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024.

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. The beach is bigger in winter, smaller in summer. These changes make the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground.
*FAQ: Is this a good spot to bring my kiddos?
Our campground is not equipped to handle the magical, whirlwind force that children release unto the world. There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids.
WHAT'S NEARBY?
- There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away.
- Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes)
-Hiking! Waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers... There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes.

We had a fantastic time on this property. There are only 13 camp sites, so you will never be too crowded. Only 3 sites were used during our stay. It is secluded and very peaceful. Lisa was a great host. She made sure we did not need anything, and then left us alone to enjoy our time. She is very kind, and takes a lot of pride in keeping the property well maintained. There are two porta potys for the campers and they are extremely clean. We definitely plan to visit again anytime we come back to North Carolina.

I’ve been camping my entire life and been to amazingly beautiful places, but this campsite was too 5 (the others being backpacking sites). All the sites provide privacy and each has its incredible qualities. We should stayed at island site and the bridge combined with the tent platform right above the creek was magical. Brian was the absolute best host and hands down one of the kindest dudes I’ve ever met. I cannot say enough about our experience. I’m from Los Angeles and I’ll definitely be back as soon as I can.

So perfect & secluded, kayaking on the river was sooo beautiful! They have different pond access points & provide paddleboards & kayacks if you don’t have. The shower shed is also an amazing idea!

I had a great stay here this long weekend with my sister and 2 dogs! The site is beautiful and spacious, and there’s so much to explore!
One of the lakes is just steps away from the campsite and I loved fishing off the dock and relaxing. I caught some huge bass and brim, and the water is so clear by the dock that you can just sit and watch the fish swim. We also enjoyed the two kayaks that were there for us to use!
The very large shade canopy and fire pit were great to have and use, and the bath house was a huge bonus!! After a long day in the sun and sand and water, it’s so nice to be able to use a real toilet, sink, and shower while camping! And it’s within walking distance from the site.
The beaches on the property are also beautiful with white sand everywhere, and we loved fishing and swimming there. You can also see the horse pastures from the beach, and we enjoyed watching the horses :)
Since there are only a few sites on the property, we only ran into other people twice and most of the time it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Julie was very friendly and responsive throughout our stay, making sure we had the best experience possible, and we certainly did!
We will definitely be coming back soon!!

I came here in February to do Solo camping. I liked it so much I booked Memorial weekend for my family. I came prepared to target Catfish. I caught 5 Catfish and 2 Gar. My wife and Daughter Tubed in the river and did some swimming. River is clean and clear despite being named the Black River. Lisa the Host is the Nicest person and drives around Periodically just to check on everyone. We will definitely be back.

Lisa’s site was great! Clean porta-potties, personal picnic tables, garbage cans, & fireplaces. Easy access to the creek. Land was spaced out enough so you didn’t feel on top of people! She was so nice and came around and greeted everyone and gave us a sticker!

10/10 night. Hands down THE best camping experience ever. This place had everything you need as a foundation for camping. My son probably caught 30+ fish day one. It's clean, it's spacious, it has both a propane grill and a charcoal grill and not to mention a huge firepit with grates if you choose to cook on an open flame. Marshmallows forks, picnic table, two large swings, sandy ground for us tent sleepers and an added Porta John which I personally appreciated. Scott is amazing. The waterfall is fantastic (yes, go ahead and slide down). Absolutely the best.

We loved camping out here! The campsites are all spread out a good distance from each other, so if you’re into being alone or isolated this place is absolutely for you! The outhouses are really well taken care of, and the campsite we stayed at was perfect. The creek was super close to the site and we spent the whole day just hanging out in the water it was amazing. The Owners are super friendly and helpful if you need anything! Also the DONKEYS are AMAZING!!! Absolutely recommend this place! Mike is the man!!

Amazing location right on the water. Plenty of space between the three sites. Well established fire pits with seating. Enjoyed seeing the Osprey and even a couple of Bald Eagles. Looking forward to visiting again.

Excellent stay at Honah Lee Farms. Brian’s son Mike was very welcoming and showed us to our site. The campsite was very quiet and secluded with a good shade. There is small river adjacent to the camp site which led to a small waterfall a short walk away. We hiked around the property and met a pair of miniature donkeys, which my kids loved. We kept our dog off leash the whole time, never ran into anyone else but felt safe and welcome the entire time in the property. Highly recommend checking it out!

Not only was this spot peaceful, quiet, and well maintained… the host went above and beyond to stop by and ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable experience. I noticed andrew came to every new comer upon arrival and introduced himself to ensure the best possible camping experience. such a nice gesture and made us female campers feel safe knowing the host was so kind and would help if needed. The property was extremely dog friendly to our 3 off leash dogs and when other campers came close by we allowed the dogs to meet and ensure they could all get along and have a great time, We brought long leashes for our dogs but never needed them since the site and campers near by were all dog friendly. we will definitely be back, thank you Andrew!
