We were looking for seclusion, privacy, romance, and a chance to reconnect with nature—and The Confluence delivered all of that and more! Although we only stayed one night, it truly felt like we had the entire mountain to ourselves.
The campsite was clean, inviting, and impressively well-appointed for a primitive setup. The host clearly takes pride in maintaining a peaceful, comfortable space. Would we return? Absolutely.

This is a great campsite! Loved the wooden tent platform in the woods and the included setup (table, canopy, restroom). Secluded property. Phil is communicative and friendly. Caught a trout in the river right next to the site. Couldn’t ask for a better host and we had a great time. Looking forward to returning here.

This is a beautiful campsite along a mountain stream that allows quick access into Brevard or Mills River and a short drive into Asheville. Sites is pretty level and private with a bonus of some dark skies for star gazing. Host was wonderful to check in via messaging but let us enjoy nature once we got there.

The Confluence is a great spot to camp! close to many hiking trails and the campsite was perfect for our small group. Our host Phil was fantastic and helped us throughout our stay. He took care of all the details. i highly recommend The Confluence if you want to stay in the Mills River area.

Phil was very accommodating, and the camping is perfect! Beautiful meadows, great little creek for swimming in, wide open spaces all to yourself, and it's very convenient to a ton of sightseeing things to do.
Can't ask for much more.

We stayed at site #4 at the confluence of the rivers. The site is an open field, and it’s a long way to the Porta potty or composting toilet, so be prepared for that. There is no running water, but they provide big gallons of water. The driveway into the campsite area can be a little tricky, but we got a big camping van and another vehicle with a trailer into the site, so just be careful and go slow as you drive in to the campsite. It is a beautiful, peaceful place. Our favorite part was putting into the river right at our campsite and floating down to the Mills River Town Park. (And Mills River Brewing is just down the road from the park, offering crafted beer, live music, and food.) It’s about a 3 to 4 hour float when the water is low. We had a wonderful time! That stretch of river is peaceful and beautiful. We also spent a day hiking at Dupont Recreational Forest, which is about a 20-30 minute drive away.
I would recommend this site to experienced campers looking for a more rustic, quiet experience. And the host, Phil, is very responsive to questions.

Phil's property was great! the large field had plenty of space for cars, camp and for kids to play! Our campsite had a fire ring W/ benches and stools, picnic table, popup canopy. The field was freshly mowed and dry/flat(Great for tents and cars). Phil was very welcoming.

I had a very peaceful stay at the Confluence! I had the place to myself and it was a great base camp to explore Pisgah National Forest. The site had firewood, a clean cozy bathroom with camp toilets, a few jugs of water, some solar lights, and a little table with an umbrella.
Phil was very kind and helpful and even checked in on me the second night to make sure I was doing ok and had enough water. I felt very safe and comfortable there as a solo female traveler!

the confluence was wonderful! the site was beautiful, had all the amenities you could want and was situated right on the river with our very own access. Phil was a great host and even pointed us in the direction of some giant salamanders near his property (the purpose of our trip to NC). 10/10 would certainly come stay again

Nice and relatively secluded, includes water and an outhouse on site. Our campsite also included a platform to pitch your tent on under the cover of the trees, making for nice cool mornings. The mills river runs along all the campsites as well and is very pretty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

I love camping near home and this awesome place provides total privacy with the convenience of stores, parks, and restaurants nearby (someone forgot to pack shoes.) This land is beautiful. We camped in a flat sunny meadow with 3 kids and 2 dogs. I appreciated the set up with a covered picnic table, fire ring with wood provided, wooden tent platform in the woods, a very short trail to a great swimming spot, and privacy. I did not mind the lack of a shower or using the outhouse but not everyone shared that opinion. Phil is a great host.

We had a great time on Phil's property and would recommend it to others, especially families with children. Our campsite was located in the far back of the area, almost in its own meadow. You could see the other sites depending where you stood but they are at least 100 meters away so it felt really private. The meadow is about 30m wide and 70m in length so plenty of room to pitch tents. There is a wooden platform just off the field where you could also put a tent. Trees surround the field and the underbrush is thick in places which might make it challenging to put a hammock up. You can stargaze but you will see treetops in most spots.
The river runs the length of the meadow and Phil has done a great job making it easy to get to it with concrete stairs. The water varied in depth from a couple inches to over 5 feet a little upstream. The water was clear so one could clearly see where the deep spots were. We saw a few trout as well.
There is plenty of room for family games if you enjoy that. You are also ten minutes or less to grocery store, Starbucks, and gas. If you want to drive a little further there are outdoor stores and Walmart within 25 minutes.
Phil was responsive to my texts through the app.
I use Verizon for cell and had 1 bar for signal. I could text and make calls but if you were wanting to do a family movie night or watch YouTube it would be really difficult.
Overall, I have nothing negative to say about the place and would definitely return.

The upper meadow was an excellent camping spot for our small group. There was plenty of space for our 2 cars, tents, etc. It was quiet, serene and so much beautiful nature around. We put our camp chairs in the river on the hot parts of the day and that was a highlight! Reception is limited.

My husband and I stayed for one night at the confluence lower meadow 2. Not only did Phil try and think of privacy with the actual site, his attention to detail and conscientiousness is TOP NOTCH! He made sure we had all of the essentials; but coffee, and a pack of cards as well. The land is beautiful and you are surrounded by happy wild life. He truly made it feel like a luxurious vacation without lux prices!

This is a great peaceful beautiful hipcamp. We were welcomed by Phyll he was so helpful with explaining everything even helped us with charging the battery for our ebike.
We slept in the beautiful tent that he has ready now for clamping with two comfy beds.
He even has coffee ready that you can make in the morning. There is a portapotty, jerry cans with water and a firepit with wood ready to make a nice fire. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain what made a super convenient that Phyll offered us to use that e large tent.
In the morning there was nice warm water waiting for us for the coffee and some magazines about the neighborhood.
It is a beautiful area. And only half a hour from beautiful Asheville. We definitely reconand this great place .

Phil (sorry I left a note on the picnic table for you with the wrong name) your place is # 1 for camping It’s secluded, huge, peaceful and you wake up with the birds, singing all around you. My daughter and I had a lot of fun. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend Phil’s place.
