The Confluence

This place is great. Lots of privacy, great river access (a little steep to get in & out but we were fine.) Could definitely tube or kayak in the river. We had some noisy neighbors the first night & Phil totally handled it which I really appreciated. He came to introduce himself too which was so nice. Close to Asheville as well. Highly recommend.

Perfect!

Host was extremely helpful, available, and accommodating. The camp sites are lush and beautiful with easy access to the river. My son, dog, and myself enjoyed 3 nights in campsite 1 and 4 (there was a mix up with another camper so we switched sites) and we fished, kayaked, tubed, and rode bikes on the grounds. We could have honestly stayed there and accomplished all of our goals. Can't wait to come back!

Beautiful large open spot with river access, surrounded by beautiful tall trees. We enjoyed the cool clean river water all day long.. did see several dead and alive trout come by. Toilet wasnt cute but worked just fine. Would definitely stay here again!

Great privacy, nice flat area for setting up our RTT. Phil was very welcoming and came down the first night to make sure we didn’t need anything. We really enjoyed the creek access.

Peaceful Mils River

Quiet, level and peaceful mowed fields next to the river. Gravel drive coming in was tight overhead in a few spots for my high roof transit but the cover was easy to pass through without pinstriping. Signage to each camp area is pretty small so took a few back and forths to find mine arriving after dark. Great location for trails above Mills River or back down to 280 quickly.

Camping with Kids - June 2026

We had an excellent stay and would absolutely come back. Our group consisted of two dads and four kids, and the site had more than enough room for everyone to spread out comfortably. We were able to set up our tents in separate areas of the campsite, giving each group plenty of privacy while still being close enough to enjoy the weekend together. The large meadow was one of our favorite features. The kids had plenty of room to run around, and we spent hours playing laser tag, kickball, and other games. It's rare to find a campsite with so much usable open space. The river access was fantastic. The river is slow-moving and perfect for families. We brought inflatable paddleboards and spent hours paddling up and down the river. Even the kids could paddle comfortably with minimal effort. There were also plenty of trout in the river for anyone interested in fishing. The tent pad in the trees was large enough for my Gazelle T4 tent with room to spare for gear and camp setup. The wooded area provided great shade and privacy. Phil was an outstanding host. He was friendly, responsive, and happy to answer any questions we had before and during our stay. What really stood out was the location. It feels remote and secluded, but you're literally only about 10 minutes from grocery stores and other essentials if needed. This is a fantastic campsite for anyone looking for privacy, open space, easy river access, and a great host. Highly recommended.

Amazing Camp Site

I loved this campsite! The area is very well kept and maintained, and when the sun finally set there were fireflies as far as the eye could see. The site being near water was also awesome, not only to explore and cool off during the day, but relaxing to listen to at night. I had an amazing time, 10/10 will camp here again and appreciate the owner for allowing me to experience their beautiful land. Thank you.

Magical Getaway

We had an amazing time! Camping right on the river was such a treat. We swam, fished and played with our 2 kids. Since we were there in early June, we got to experience the nightly light display of thousands of fireflies. When it started pouring rain on our first night, Phil messaged me to check on us and drove by to be sure our set up was secure. So nice!! We had cell reception, too. Highly recommend!

Upper meadow # 1 at Tye Confluence is a true gem. The spot was private and the amenities were great. Access to the river was awesome for fishing. Phil was accommodating and super helpful. We will 100% be back and recommend Confluence unreservedly!

Camping with kids!

Absolutely loved this site! We had so much fun tent camping here! The river was gorgeous, and there is a lot to explore here! We seen lots of fish in the river and even took some time to float in some tubes, the water was chilly but in the sun it was perfect! One of the river entrances looks a bit intimidating but we (kids included, ages 10 and 5) didnt have a problem going up or down it. We would love to come back to this spot, definitely a hidden gem!

I was on the hunt for blue ghost fireflies and could not believe the light show I got to watch right from my campsite! It was amazing! I saw a few of the rare blue ghosts, hundreds or thousands of synchronized ones and lots of your regular fireflies too. I will definitely be back next year to watch them again. The site is also only 6 minutes away from the nicest Ingles I have ever seen. There is a drive on the other side of the river that had some traffic on it but other than that, the site feels pretty secluded but close to town. Phil was an excellent host. And even told me about other spots nearby to find more ghost fireflies. The only negative thing would be that I had barely any cell service but sometimes that can be a good thing too!

This was our second stay at the confluence and in general I would recommend it! Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather this stay but we were able to brave the rain given the circumstances. Unfortunately what we thought was the best fishing hole is now off limits but there are still nice spots to access the water for swimming or to try your luck at fishing. The views here are nice as you are mostly surrounded by forest.

We are pretty experienced campers and we loved this campsite! It will be one we will return to again and again. The site we chose was upper Meadows 1.. It was very private, had a path down to the river, and we had no trouble catching trout while we were there. The kids had a blast playing in the field and exploring the woods around the campsite. I can't recommend the spot enough.

A perfect stay at Confluence :)

We loved our stay Confluence! Phil is a superb host—he’s a great communicator, welcoming, and kind. The property is gorgeous and it is kept up very nicely. The portable toilet and jugs of drinkable water set out for us were a great touch. Couldn’t be in a better location for North Mills access. Loved exploring the area.

Fantastic spot and great communication with Phil. Privacy tents were clean, grass was moved and there was even a gallon of drinking water at each spot. If you gonna go to this Hipcamp with a big truck and have a bigger teardrop trailer, it's gonna be tight getting through the narrow road leading to the campsites. Definitely recommend this awesome spot, and hope you will also have a chance to see the Bald Eagle.
