The view is pretty spectacular given it isn’t too difficult to get to. Super tidy site and the firewood was dry and caught right away. Great for a one night stop for us as we were traveling through the area. While we had it all to ourselves, we heard lots of barking dogs and motorcycle revving the night we stayed. Who knows, that would bother me even if I was at home!

Such a great spot! Love the decorations, the seating, and the “Poop Shed” was definitely my 4 year olds favorite. Secluded enough with a great view, but still close enough to town if you need to grab things.

Really cool site close to home. It had mountains vibes but we were actually only about 30 minutes from home. Site was clean and well setup. Had a great time. The poop shed was exceptionally clean. Camp hosts offered little things that made the site easier to navigate. Great views!

We absolutely loved our stay at Rocky Knolls! This was exactly the kind of camping experience we had been looking for — peaceful, private, beautiful, and surrounded by nature.
The campsite felt wonderfully secluded, and having the space to ourselves made it incredibly relaxing. One of our favorite things about the site was the beautiful mountain view. Being able to sit at our campsite, look out toward the mountains, and watch the scenery change throughout the day made the whole experience feel especially peaceful and memorable. It was so nice to sit by the fire, enjoy the view and sounds of nature, and truly feel like we had gotten away from everything.
The site was comfortable, well cared for, and a perfect home base for exploring the beautiful hiking areas nearby. We came with our dog and had such a memorable weekend. Even with some changing weather, we enjoyed every minute of being there.
Rocky Knolls gave us that wonderful feeling of real camping and being immersed in nature, while still being easy enough to access and enjoy. We left already talking about coming back.
If you are looking for a quiet, private campsite where you can relax, unplug, enjoy a beautiful mountain view, and experience the beauty of the North Carolina countryside, Rocky Knolls is a gem. Highly recommend!
PS. My coworker is already planning a trip to Rocky Knolls in October after I told him about it and showed pictures!!!

A Perfect Quick Getaway to the Saur

We recently took our teardrop camper up to The Rocky Knoll for a quick getaway, and it was exactly what we needed. Even though the site is situated near a neighborhood, it maintains a fantastic sense of privacy and offers a great view of the Sauratown Mountains. It makes for an excellent basecamp if you're exploring Hanging Rock, Belews Lake, or any of the nearby state parks.
The location is super convenient with a couple of gas stations and a grocery store close by—though stepping into the local Ingles felt like walking right back into 1983! We got hit by a quick thunderboomer of a storm that made the onsite camp wood a bit stubborn to light, so it was a huge plus that the nearby convenience store sold dry firewood. Once we got the fire going, we settled in for a great camp-side meal cooked over the coals.
Despite the usual high heat and heavy humidity of a North Carolina summer, we were treated to a wonderfully cool breeze all evening. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone passing through, looking for a solid basecamp for the state parks, or just needing a quick, peaceful escape!

Hi, I would love to leave a review of this site, but unfortunately, the weather changed on us last minute and we had to cancel. I can give an excellent of the hosts, however! I happened to have several questions, several times and every time, the response was literally always within 5 to 10 minutes max. Everything was perfectly explained each instance and they were very understanding about our last minute questions and cancellations. We will be rebooking immediately!

What a great campsite next to Hanging rock state park! The site felt very private and such a great view of the sunset and mountains. The hosts take great care of the property and leave ample cleaning supplies for the poop shed. There is a dollar general only a few minutes from the site. Was a very relaxing experience!

What an epic spot! The view from here was spectacular, with a gorgeous sunset to boot! So clean, quiet, and set up perfectly with lots of seats and tables available, highly recommend this Hipcamp and I’ll definitely be back!

We had a great time camping at this site. It’s easy to find and tucked away in the woods so very private. The site is quite spacious with room to spread out and a nice peekaboo view of the foothills. Big stone fire pit, multiple seating options, and 2 picnic tables. There is a large, flat, sandy tent pad and other flat areas for more tents. Nice loop around driveway for large vehicles. We did not try the bathroom amenities but they looked well maintained and a nice gesture. Looking forward to another stay here!

A group of my friends and I came out to enjoy the Rocky Knoll and we loved every bit of it! There was a beautiful sunset that peaked through the trees, a gorgeous view of the mountains, and countless options for hammocking. The firewood is an awesome touch, readily available and the host accommodates different ways to pay for it, which is nice. The "Poop Shed" is very clean and offers excellent privacy. We all joked about making this spot a quarterly trip, but have definitely agreed to come back in the fall!

Top-notch in every sense of the word. Wonderful hosts and the view is incredible. Trees perfect for your hammock, enough firewood to get you through a 50° day and even colder evening with no problem, a flat tent pad, and the most amazing poop shed/outhouse situation you’ll ever come across. Quiet Clean Countryside

Reviews Don’t Lie! We enjoyed our 2 night stay immensely : ) The View oh the View! A nice level spot for vehicle camping. The nice fire pit was large well maintained w plenty of wood to purchase at a reasonable price (we didn’t use it bc of high wind gusts) w a good barrier to keep a fire with a breeze or light winds. The entire camp spot was clean even the poop closet (we have our own bathroom setup so we didn’t use it). The non-potable water and other touches was such a plus and there’s plenty of space to spread out and relax. Very private campground and we felt safe and relaxed during our stay. We got some unexpected rain in the early morning. The grounds dried out very quickly! We enjoyed the night sky and stars, the sunset and rise and the music of the birds and frogs and other living creature around us as we fell asleep and woke up. Great location to enjoy Hanging Rock (we hiked there before checking in) and Pilot Mountain if u so choose. There r also lovely and super convenient local parks to enjoy as well (we visited Horizons Park after checkout). We look fwd to our nxt stay at Rocky Knoll!
