Crooked Mountain – Camping Near the Blue Ridge Parkway | Floyd, VA www.crookedmtn.com Crooked Mountain is a family and Veteran-owned farm, campground, camp store, and small event venue located just ½ mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mile Marker 159 near Floyd, Virginia. We designed Crooked Mountain to be a unique basecamp for travelers exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, especially those traveling by van, car, motorcycle, bicycle, or with small RVs. With easy access from the Parkway and scenic mountain roads nearby, it’s a great stop for road trippers, vanlifers, and anyone on two wheels exploring Southwest Virginia. The campground currently offers 15 campsites across the farm: • 7 sites on Pine Creek (Sites 1 & 12 have electric) • 5 field campsites with open views of the surrounding hills • 3 field sites with electric near the pond (Sites 13–15) Electric sites provide 30/20 amp power only. There are no water or sewer hookups at campsites. Guests can enjoy the natural setting of the property and access our hiking trail, fishing pond (catch n release for a fee) and other amenities on the farm while staying here. Our camp store offers tourism information about Floyd and the surrounding area (including local motorcycle/bicycle maps and routes, along with artisan goods, camping essentials (things you may have forgotten), snacks, drinks, coffee, ice, firewood and more. During the summer months we also open our fields for a You-Pick flower experience, where guests can purchase a container and create their own bouquet. Flower season typically runs July through September. Crooked Mountain is located along The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, and the town of Floyd is just 4 miles away, offering live music, local restaurants, breweries, galleries, and the famous Friday Night Jamboree at the Floyd Country Store. Whether you're traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, riding Floyd’s scenic backroads, or just exploring the region, Crooked Mountain is a great place to stop and stay awhile. Come "Ride. What a gem of a campground! If rustic charm is what you are looking for, this is the campground for you. Portapotties were clean, the showers were quaint with plentiful hot water and good water pressure. Thoughtful touches like little solar lamps on the picnic tables, a space for changing and motion sense lights to guide you to the showers made such a difference. We were tickled by the little wash stations next to the portapotties where you can wash your hands! Things like that show you that the owners really think and care about their visitors experience. On that topic, the owners are lovely. They helped us out with a generator when our power supply ran short! Please go and spend some time at this campground! You will not regret it!

My boys and I had a great time tent camping at Crooked Mountain. The owners are fantastic, the facilities were clean, the campsite was quiet, the stars were incredible. My boys said they forgot the world and life back home even existed while we were there- 5 star camping experience.

This was my second time staying at Crooked Mountain, and my wife's first time. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It was so peaceful and quiet and the babbling creek at night was definitely nice for sleeping! Of all the campsites we used on our mountain vacation, this was my wife's favorite, and she is new to camping. The nearby town of Floyd is wonderful as well and if you ever want to visit Floyd, VA, you MUST consider camping at Crooked Mountain! Hosts were fabulous as well. Thanks for such a great place to stay! We will definitely be visiting again on our next trip to the mountains.

We loved our experience at Crooked Mountain, from the beautiful scenery to the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts. The campsite was comfortable, my sons had a great time fishing, and it's close to downtown, which has nice shops and a variety of food options.

We had a great time at Crooked Mountain. It's a lovely old farm tucked between mountains and pastures. The campsite was easy to set up on, sites were far enough apart to have privacy, fellow campers were quiet and respectful, and there are hot showers! A bonus when camping in chilly Fall weather. I would highly recommend Crooked Mountain campground to anyone wanting to tent camp near the cute town of Floyd. Town is less than 10 minutes away.

Had a lovely time at Crooked Mountain! The creek site was perfectly private with a great little hiking trail. The sounds of the birds and the creek were so pleasant. The bathhouse and showers were great, and I loved how close it is to downtown Floyd. Will definitely be staying here next time we’re in the area!

We really enjoyed tent camping in the field. The field had such a clear view of the sky it was breathtaking and the stars were absolutely beautiful. The site itself was clean and well kept and very close to the bathroom which I enjoyed. Site 7 is also the closest to the woods and there was only one neighbor that was close by but they gave us no trouble. Easy to get to since the directions take you right there and we really appreciated that they had a place selling firewood at the entrance. We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we ever go back up near Floyd.

My son and I were in desperate need of some time away from our screens, a quick Google search and I found myself intrigued by a beautiful little spot about an hour from our home. Let me tell you Crooked mountain did not dissapoint, we were only able to work one night into our schedual but the atmosphere here is wonderful. The restrooms were clean, our site was small but neatly kept and had a hammock waiting to enjoy the stars. I do wish our neighbors had left the Bluetooth speaker at home but all in all it was a fantastic little trip, we will certainly be back next spring.

Beautiful campsite with natural white noise (the creek). The store is very handy in case you forget essentials like we did, and the owners are very nice and helpful. Would love to visit again soon!

This was a great little camping spot. Site #2 was a great size and even though camp sites are kinda close together, this one felt very private. The land was fun to explore and the sound of the creek was perfect falling asleep to. Camp host very accommodating and friendly. Would love to stay again.

This was a wonderful place! Everything was clearly makers and clean, the bathrooms for very clean and the site beautifully maintained. We stayed by the creek and it was so lovely to fall asleep and wake up to the bubbling sound of the water. Sunrise was gorgeous, and we could see the milky way when we lay down by the fire and looked at the stars. Also they sell firewood onside for super cheap. And there's a resident chicken which is black with beautiful shiny feathers 🪶 ✨️ who was very fun to encounter. I can't wait to give back! :D

I really enjoyed my week camping at Crooked Mountain. I was a solo woman camper and I felt safe camping there. The owners were kind and helpful. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and safe. The showers have hot water and were clean. There is a trail on the campground and many more hikes nearby. All the flowers they grow on their property are gorgeous! So many butterflies 🦋

This is our third time staying at Crooked Mountain and we absolutely love coming here! Brian and Christy are incredibly nice and have built a great place to camp. There is a creek that flows through the campground and a hiking trail that they made. The store is well stocked and has great ice cream. I highly recommend staying here.

It completely exceeded my expectations! Expect a beautiful landscape, cute store with some really well thought out items and hot showers! This site couldn’t have been more private and secluded. I could have spent a few more nights, but I’ll be back soon!

We had a phenomenal experience and cannot wait to return! Each site is beautiful and unique, very spacious and private. The creek provides constant sound to fall asleep or relax to. There is a sweet little hike through the woods and everyone is so friendly and warm! The shop has everything you might need. The flowers are gorgeous and added so much to our stay. We were so excited for our stay and it did not disappoint!

Sunflowers and a creek!

Our second time staying at Crooked Mountain, and would 10/10 stay again. The sunflowers were in bloom and the property had gone through some changes since last we stayed. The sound of the creek at night couldn't have been more relaxing. Communication with hosts is great, and all the amenities were clean and well stocked. Honestly can't wait til we're heading through the area again to maybe stay for a bit longer next time.

We had a wonderful time camping at Crooked Mountain. The campground, while primitive has everything you could possibly need including brand new showers, great lighting for night time exploring, a great camp store, firewood, fire rings with grill grates, and privacy bushes even for field camping spot. Would absolutely recommend Crooked Mountain.

We stayed at camp site 6, and it was spacious enough for our family of seven! There are steps to get into the creek at the site and the kids enjoyed playing in it. It was very secluded and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The showers were very nice, and the restrooms were clean. Will definitely be coming back to stay again.

This was a beautiful camp. Lovely hosts. Very accommodating. The hiking trail was lots of fun. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to wander through the flowers. Pity, however, makes me yearn to go back very soon. My dogs also enjoyed themselves, playing in the creek especially. And, and this is important, the stars were so bright. Would be a wonderful place to watch for shooting stars.

Crooked Mountain campground is peaceful, beautiful, and very convenient to travelers along the Blue Ridge Parkway, just a few hundred meters from the parkway. The couple who runs the campground are sweet and personable. They have a store for "essentials" in the office. The campground consists of several private pull-in campsites, which are somewhat shaded -- but let enough light through to top off my power bank with my solar panel -- and a separate open field for van/RV camping. It feels very un-crowded. There is virtually no light pollution so you can see millions of stars at night. I got treated to a beautiful lightening show from a small isolated thunderhead about 10 miles north of me. I stayed in Creekside Site 3 next to the brook. Rocks in the brook caused a soft babbling sound, which lulled me to sleep and made for my best sleep of my entire trip. The tent pad is level and made of dirt, so tent stakes went in and came out easily, and there were no lumps. The fire ring was clean. Wood is available at the office. I wish I could have stayed another night, but schedule demands interfered.

One of favorite camp sites I’ve stayed at! Host and staff were so kind and helpful for us tourists. Our 12ft van fit perfectly in the creekside camp sites. The sound of the water from the creek accompanied by a fire pit, hammock, and picnic table make it such an enjoyable night. If you like stargazing, the stars are GORGEOUS here. The price is also amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone!
