This 235.51 acre property has all of the most sought-after characteristics: close to the amenities of Hot Springs and The Homestead resort, total privacy and protection, beautiful trout stream, direct access to hiking and mountain bike trails on the adjoining 3000 acres of National Forest, and a 60-mile sunset view. It offers over 1,000 ft of vertical gain. The property includes a half mile of Cowardin Run. With generally mild winter weather, the property is perfect to experience the magic of the Allegheny Mountains.
We offer the same low light level as the International Dark Sky Park in Millboro for excellent astronomy and night-sky viewing.

Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.

Primitive tent camping at some of its best! Views and an experience well worth the price. Be sure to bring a vehicle that can tackle some steep gravel roads, our front wheel drive SUV had a little trouble but we were able to get up to the second highest camping spot (momentum is your friend!)

V's land was the perfect spot for our quick trip to Shenandoah! His instructions for getting there and what kind of vehicle needed were spot on and he was very communicative whenever I reached out. There was some firewood on site but I am not sure if it was left by last campers or him. We brought our own and used it as it recently rained when we camped. Beautiful fireplace and plenty of room to set up our tent, even though half of the area was a bit muddy from recent rain. It has a beautiful view of the sunrise in the morning and we were fortunate enough to wake up to snow our last morning there! Will definitely come back to this site if I get back to the area!

My friend and I brought our pups up here for a night and can’t recommend it enough. The site is private, close to a few wineries/breweries, and has great views. Be sure to follow the 4WD guidance - we didn’t have to use it but I can see how rain a day or two before could make for an interesting drive up. The leaves this time of year also made it a bit slick. Overall, the campsite was exactly what we were hoping for and we’ll be back if camping in the area again!

The land is as good as everyone says it is.
An AWD car with some clearance and good tires are definitely needed for some of the gravel inclines. My Mazda cx5 did just fine.
The sunset view from the cliff site is phenomenal.

One of the best camp sites I have ever been to! VERY family friendly. Exceptionally well maintained. Host was very responsive and provided clear directions on how to get to the site. Rocks denoted the location for the campfire. Great path to go for a hike in the morning. Close to the town to pick up graham crackers or whatever else you forgot before camping. However still felt very secluded. Could not say enough good things.

Best place ever! We came and had our first camping trip as a family. Marvin and his wife were extremely kind, understanding, patient and supportive. My ten year old son absolutely loved camping here at the farm and Marvin made us feel like we were at our other home. We are already planning to go back! What a dream of a trip! A Hipcamp gem that we will definitely be back to! There were multiple flat spots available for tent camping with a group and two large fire pits. The site was extremely quiet and close to Grayson Highlands. You can easily beat the weekend crowds with the short commute up to the state park. An awesome perk! There is also a beautiful creek running through (which was a hit with our dogs) and the site is tree covered which helps protect from windy tent camping nights. We loved our time at this site and was a great nature reset.
