Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film. Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress! This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well. Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

Fascinating place. Quiet. Took a few minutes to find a level spot, because we didn’t want to drag out the leveling blocks. Lots of acreage to explore. Had no problem finding wood for the campfire. Un-hooking the tow vehicle on site was a little tough … next time we’ll do that off site.

The land is as good as everyone says it is. An AWD car with some clearance and good tires are definitely needed for some of the gravel inclines. My Mazda cx5 did just fine. The sunset view from the cliff site is phenomenal.

Wow. What an amazing mountains gateway for our family. If you’re looking for a place that isn’t crowded and makes you feel like you’re really living on the land…then this is spot. Our family really enjoyed the 4x4 driving to our spot, the property, the cows on the ridge, and the passing by trains. It was exactly what we were looking for: mountain camping without the crowds. Beautiful property! We took another campers advice and camped by the Christmas trees up on the hilltop to get the full Mountain View’s. There were only 1-2 other campers/RVs on the whole property, it was extremely peaceful and great for stargazing at night. We will be back with our dog again!

Fantastic spot for camping and incredibly detailed directions on where to go. Very secluded and private field with minimal almost no vehicle traffic on the lane and not much on the road leading to it either. Great communication from host Emmalyn and everything was exactly as we expected it. Definitely expect some wildlife as we saw some really cool birds and even heard coyotes in the distance. We will definitely be back if we are in the area. Thanks again Emmalyn!

This was our very first Hipcamp stay, and it couldn’t have been better! Communication with our host, Emmalyn, was excellent from start to finish. The site was easy to find—even in the dark—and exactly as described. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We had the pleasure of meeting Emmalyn and her husband Zach in person, and they are truly wonderful people. Trying a new service can be a little nerve-racking, but they made the experience smooth and enjoyable. We highly recommend their site and would absolutely stay again!

Would definitely recommend. The camp spot was as described, wide open, mostly level with picnic table, and solo stove with fire wood! Directions were clear and accurate. Stayed for 1 night with 3 overland vehicles. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Beautiful spot! Stayed for a quick overnight and was a great place to wake up, have some coffee, and make breakfast before getting back on the road. Good cell service (Verizon). I had the place to myself and it was incredibly peaceful. It does not have any amenities (water, toilet, etc), but there was a picnic table, solo fire pit, and fire wood. Still a great spot, just be prepared.

Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays.

Peace and quiet equals “Solitude at my farm. I’m just like you. I want to camp at a quiet place in the country where it’s plenty of acres and no houses to look at and a clean bathroom and shower. Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.

The land and lodge used to be the summer home of a trained opera singer, whose singing could be heard throughout the mountain. Your Host lives onsite in the stone house that also acts as a hostel for hikers on the Appalachian Trail. Built in the 1930's all from locally sourced hand-hammered stone, the house is open every night from 5pm - 9pm. Note that we offer several campsites relatively close to each other, so you should expect to see and hear other campers on the property during your stay. The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall! Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants! In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options. We plan to add septic & electric hook-ups for RV's in the near future. After six years of exploring the country in our motor home, my husband and I found our perfect haven here. Fort Monroe is not only surrounded by a picturesque water moat but is also conveniently located near popular destinations such as Williamsburg, Newport News, Yorktown, and Virginia Beach, as well as some of the largest military bases in the nation. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a beach lover, or an outdoor adventurer, Fort Monroe offers something for everyone. Through our extensive RV travels, we have experienced a variety of campgrounds, which inspired us to create a unique site that caters to the needs of RV owners and tent campers alike. Our campground features thirteen RV spots, each named after one of the original thirteen colonies, complete with individual water, electricity, and sewage hook-ups. We accommodate both 30 and 50 amp connections, ensuring a comfortable stay. Additionally, we offer 10 overflow spots equipped with water and electricity. For tent campers, we provide ample open and shaded areas, perfect for singles, couples, or larger gatherings, all just a stone's throw from the water.
