The Guinea farm is 18 acres of feild and forest on the rural middle pennensula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded beaches and a boat launch. There is verly little traffic or light polution here, nature is at your fingertips. Come visit the farm and experience agrotourism at it's finest. Pick your own veggies in the community garden and meet the Guinea fowl! Enjoy the windernes and learn about the local ecosystem here on the middle pennensula. There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria is a primative site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy is a suspended tree tent in the pines 700' beyond that and seperated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an offgrid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property. Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays.

Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet.  About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Stargazing is at its best here, and lots of back roads to walk and explore. Check out Beamers Knob for a gorgeous long range view, about a mile from the yurt. It’s breathtaking! This yurt also has a generator to keep things going, in case of a power failure due to inclement weather.

Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays.

You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Our property boasts 400+ feet of river frontage for you to enjoy and you can swim, fish, or even launch a canoe directly from our sites. About the property Our property is located adjacent to the historic Warren Ferry crossing of the James River. This is one of two historic ferry crossings near Scottsville, VA! The other, Hatton Ferry, is located a little bit down river from this location. Our property is only 8 miles from Scottsville so if you need to pop into town for something you forgot it is quite easy. There are many other activities that you can partake in nearby or on our property. There is fishing, swimming, hiking, and kayaking all within easy reach of our property. We live onsite (total property acreage is 16 miles) and we can reached over the phone or text. If you have any questions before or during your stay please don’t hesitate to reach out. The owner does reserve the right to use the river access, for activities such as kayak launch/recover, during the stay. Keep in mind that during the night it is possible to hear some train activity from across the river.

The yurt is 15 mins from Mt Airy NC which is a destination for outdoors activities, wineries, breweries, and has a gorgeous downtown area. Fancy Gap is famous for the BRPW, hiking, mountain biking, and all types of outdoor activities. Mother Earth has a walk in shower, soaking tub, bluetooth music, wifi, and a hot tub. a full kitchen and washer and dryer. I provide all your paper products, coffees, creamer, sugar, shower products and more. it’s in a wooded area with nice views and wildlife in abundance. This yurt is comfortable all year long with a minisplit for heat and air conditioning, and a propane fireplace. This yurt has easy access and parking right in front. The deck is gated for toddlers and pets. Check out the secluded porch swing underneath. Our pet fee is an additional $25 left on the counter. Stargazing is at its best here, and lots of back roads to walk and explore. Check out Beamers Knob for a gorgeous long range view, about a mile from the yurt. It’s breathtaking! This yurt also has a generator to keep things going, in case of a power failure due to inclement weather.

Lots to see and do in this area or just relax and enjoy the wildlife and the sounds of blue herons passing. The handmade timberframe cabin has lots of character and complete visual privacy. 12x16 space with twin mattress beds, kitchen area with propane cookstove, water filter, dry sink. Small woodstove and loft for sleeping. Sleeps (4). Outhouse available close by the cabin. Access is fairly easy but would be best in 4wd vehicle. In the case of inclement weather, cabin may not be accessible. Please, no dogs as we have lots of farm animals.

Stargazer tiny cabin at the Guinea Farm was perfect for me and my pup. Ian was the perfect host and made us feel so welcome. Meeting the chickens and guineas was a lot of fun and the beach nearby was breathtaking. We explored the area, had a few campfires, and relaxed. Even the rainstorm was amazing while inside Stargazer!!! The cabin was super cool. We will be returning! Just a quick note that did not detract from the experience at all - we did encounter some hunting dogs loose at the beach hunting a deer. Its obviously hunting season and off the location, just good to note. We loved our trip here and valued meeting Ian and learning about his much loved birds, clearly living in paradise. Definitely worth a visit! The cabin itself was extremely clean and well stocked. The property was fun to explore, even has corn hole and axe throwing!

I’m a returning camper. Last time I went to Trilogy. Love this whole property. 2WD accessible. I was greeted by the host Ian who promptly brought me a huge pile of firewood. Campsite has a nice picnic table and nice fire ring with swivel cooking grate. The treehouse features a deck with a tent for anyone who needs it. The treehouse also has a griddle and grill running off a propane tank. Inside the treehouse has bar stools and a bar top dining area. It also has L-shaped benches on the back wall and a foldable table. There is a projector with Roku stick for streaming off of their WiFi. Also for fun there is a Nintendo 64 with 3 games including Mario Kart 64. All electrical components run off a battery powered by solar. There are USB-A ports in various area for your convenience. Additionally there are cots and camping chairs provided. I had a great time and felt very safe on the site. I really got to relive some childhood memories sleeping in a treehouse and playing video games. I highly recommend. If sleeping in the provided tent isn’t your thing or you have brought your own, there are countless areas surrounding the treehouse and an adjacent field with ample room 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We had a wonderful stay at the Stargazer tiny cabin. It was incredibly cozy, warm and clean. The cabin had every amenity we needed, and Ian provided clear instructions for everything. He responded to all of our requests quickly and kindly, which made our stay even better. One of the highlights was looking up at the stars at night. It was absolutely fantastic! Aaron’s Beach and Haven Beach were only 3–5 minutes away, and we had the best time there with our dog. This was truly one of our best stays, and I strongly recommend Ian’s place. We will definitely be back!

Had a great time!! It is a very special property and Jennifer was kind to show us the animals and tell us more about the history. The little cabin was comfortable and had all the basic cooking items we needed as well as plenty of water for dishes/handwashing! We enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting at a nearby winery that Jennifer gave us, but overall just hung out at the property and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Also, the outhouse is difficult to see if you arrive at night, but it is there, just a few feet off the trail by the solar lights :)

Weekend Trip to Our Farm in Strasburg, VA
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Full Moon dome. 2 adults and 3 large dogs had PLENTY of space both inside and outside to rest and relax. We LOED watching the sheep outside the large dome window while drinking coffee in the mornings (French press provided!). There was plenty of firewood for the firepit and a propane grill nearby - we had such a peaceful experience. Highly recommend ordering some popovers and banana nut w/ chocolate chip muffins! We ordered the night before and Remy had them made and packaged in a wonderful picnic basket by 08300 the next morning! And while you're there, pick up some fresh grass-fed steak for grilling bringing home. Directions: site navigation was very easy. Custom road, parking, and site signs made it very easy to find the dome at night, All linens for both bed and futon are provided so we didn't need to worry about packing bedding/pillows etc Traveled in early November and didn't have any issues with bugs like mosquitoes or ticks. Compost toilet in the dome was such a luxury and easy to use. Tips/tricks: bring a bucket or bowl for gray water. You'll need a way to wash plates/utensils, french press, hands etc.

We’ll help remove critters as needed. Elevation 1200ft; we’re 1/4 mile from Shenandoah National Park. Guided hikes and farm tours available (for a fee) if interested! We also have eggs for sale when our chickens are laying.Come stay in a secluded, relaxed environment where you can unplug and reconnect with Nature. There are a handful of neighbors, and sometimes cars travel up or down the road, but generally this is a quiet, peaceful area. Our two old time scotch collies keep most wildlife away, but once in a while you get a glimpse of turkey, or hawks, rabbits, etc…. Hiking and exploring the woods is welcome, but don’t stray to the neighbors We recently acquired a rare chicken breed, Scots Dumpies, and are trying to increase the flock, so there may be a chance to see baby chicks. The Stars do their thing on clear nights and are an amazing sight with the near zero light pollution. We love to view the stars and Moon in all her phases. We try to keep your need to bring much to a minimum, so we provide plenty of blankets and pillows ( or sleeping bag if desired), dishes and some cookware for over-the-fire meals, towels and wash cloths if a rain barrel “cat bath” is in order :), hand soap and toilet paper too! Life is in constant fluctuation up here at our mountain home, which is how we like it! Camp out with us and see why!

This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants. Learn more about this land: Heavily wooded mountain side with flowing creek. Easy access (walking distance) to Jefferson National Forest, National Forest horse trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail. (Note: You cannot drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway as the path is an old forest road which has been gated, but you can walk up to it.)  We also have a tree house which has AC, heat and electrical connection.     You may camp anywhere on the property.  There is plenty of frontage on the creek and several tents can go up there. Welcome to our one-acre homestead retreat! This is a relaxed “anything goes” subdivision where neighbors tend to have active gardens, orchards, and homesteads. On the north side of the property, you’ll find our thriving fruit orchard with five varieties of apple trees, three types of peaches, three plum trees, two cherries, three pears, three persimmons, two pomegranate bushes, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, haskaps, Aronia berries, and even young chestnut and hazelnut trees. On the opposite side, adventure awaits with a 120-foot zipline running from a mature maple to an enormous tulip poplar. Beneath the poplar tree, we’ve set up multiple swings and a 50-foot climbing rope for extra fun. At the heart of the property, you’ll find a 16-foot trampoline and a cozy fire pit—the perfect spot to gather in the evenings. For your stay, you can pitch your own tent or enjoy our 201 sq. ft. canvas tent, furnished with a queen-size bed. In the colder months, we keep the tent outfitted with a wood-burning stove to keep you extra cozy. Amenities include two yard hydrants for fresh water and a well-maintained outhouse for bathroom needs. The entire acre is fenced in so feel free to bring pets and kids—just please ensure everyone respects the orchard and garden beds.

Our 65 acre farm is secluded and peaceful. We have a small pond with catfish, bluegill, large mouth bass (catch and release only) and a gentle creek. We have chickens, sheep, a pig, cows and diary goats. Enjoy a walk down to the pond and take a picture by the old farm house (from the early 1800's) or explore history in the cemetery. You could also take the kids for a hike in the forest and search for mushrooms. At the end of the day you can kick back by the fire pit, stargaze and make some s'mores. Our cabin (converted shed) offers a queen size bed and a sofa sleeper, fire pit, charcoal BBQ, AC/HEAT, keurig coffee pot, Wood chip toilet and privacy!Farm experience tour available upon request by appointment.We also have an RV hookup with family campers about 100yds from the cabin.
