The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower as well. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy.
While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night!
Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables.
Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October.
The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County.
The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc.
Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge.
Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands!
We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival.

The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy.
While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night!
Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables.
Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October.
The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County.
The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc.
Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge.
Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands!
We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival.

What an amazing little gem tucked away in a beautiful location surrounded by vineyards. At night warmed by the camp fire you could see every star in the sky. Dawn did a wonderful job putting this little paradise together. Everything was readily available that I didn't even think we might need.

Beautiful place to spend the night. I really enjoyed the bed, it’s super comfy!
It’s quiet and lots of stars. The bathroom was clean and cabin was very clean. Cabin is beautifully decorated. They even had small fridge with some waters. Very nice location near vineyards and not too far from town.
My only recommendation would be to add full length curtains for privacy and to keep sun out in morning. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Weekend Trip to Glamping At Fall Creek Retreats
Wow, what a gem this place is. My girlfriend and I were fortunate to be the only ones staying last weekend, it was absolutely tranquil. We stayed in the geodome. Being right on the creek, away from everyone and everything, and still having WiFi to share pics with friends and family made it that much better. We stayed for two nights, checked out and made it to Boone in just 25 minutes to start our adventure down the mountain. Paul was quick to message back when we couldn’t figure out the WiFi password, and checked on us during our stay. Safe to say we would highly recommended this spot!

I came here for a trip to get away from screens for a few days. Lori was a great host and provided a lot of extras for me and my cat which was very sweet! I highly recommend the brunch extra to anyone. I would definitely stay here again!

A few hiccups during our stay were troubleshot quickly – after all we were in nature, living off grid and Mother Nature sometimes surprises us.
From the soothing sound of the creek, to the quiet of the glamping’s grounds, to the well appointed amenities (inside and outside), our stay at Falls Creek Retreat was a lovely way to bring in the new year!
Paul checked in regularly via email/DM; he was a great host from the time we booked to the time we checked out. We felt safe in and around our cabin. We enjoyed strolls alongside the creek and saying hello during our brief interactions w other guests. His serv/grounds guy Ricky was a pleasure to talk with as well.
We had a wonderful stay w our pups and cannot wait to return! Cheers to 2026!

My husband and I had the most wonderful stay in this yurt! It was so adorable, and you can really tell the hosts put a lot of love into it. The attention to detail was amazing. It was the perfect cozy getaway - we didn’t want to leave!

Such a nice place well maintained very clean and very close to a lot of interesting towns, shops, and parks. Jodee was very friendly and helpful. Not a difficult drive very close to the interstate. Ciro’s pizza is great.

Myself, boyfriend and two pups had the pleasure of staying at the Wind Song yurt this past weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! The place was stunning, stocked for all needs and a great getaway. Jodee was great at communicating with any questions with incredible timing. I highly recommend checking the place out for a mental check out for the views are spectacular. Thanks for a memorable trip!

We stayed during a snow fall, so we did not get the full river experience- but even in November the view is beautiful. The little cabin was just enough for my young family of 4 and our dog.
Host made it super simple and had everything we would need and made sure to check on us via messages to make sure the heater was sufficient (which it definitely was).

The Blue Ridge Parkway is an incredible scenic drive with nonstop mountain views and peaceful overlooks. It’s the perfect place to slow down, enjoy nature, and take in some of the most beautiful scenery around. A must-see any time of year.

From this camping spot near Elkin, if you drive N on Hwy 21 towards Sparta, take the South route on the parkway, the North route was extremely underwhelming.

This was the best camping experience I have had. The site is isolated to where it's very private, but also easily accessible to the surrounding areas. Excellent hosts, beautiful cabins, and gorgeous views.

I got married at a lookout on the BRP so I’m biased but this is my favorite road in the states, especially in the fall, obviously! You need to visit at least once in your life!!

We were there in October, The drive on the parkway is beautiful. One of the biggest attractions on the entire parkway is Mabry mill. We were disappointed with it being closed, the restaurant is too. Also disappointed with how the surrounding area around the mill needs updating and landscaping. The Mill pond needs to be cleaned out, it’s not what it used to be to be.

Got to Rocky Knob late due to a HipCamp failure, but still found finding an open site and registering easy to do. Sites are all well marked and large, room for 1 vehicle with a roof top tent as well as options for where to place a ground tent.
