The FireFly is pet friendly and please leave $25 on the counter for the pet fee. The Firefly is 6 miles from I-77 and The Blue Ridge Parkway. There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

You can also contact us at any time, but the WIFI is sometimes spotty, so it may be necessary to come knock on our door for additional inquiries. (Don't be shy! A few hiccups during our stay were troubleshot quickly – after all we were in nature, living off grid and Mother Nature sometimes surprises us. From the soothing sound of the creek, to the quiet of the glamping’s grounds, to the well appointed amenities (inside and outside), our stay at Falls Creek Retreat was a lovely way to bring in the new year! Paul checked in regularly via email/DM; he was a great host from the time we booked to the time we checked out. We felt safe in and around our cabin. We enjoyed strolls alongside the creek and saying hello during our brief interactions w other guests. His serv/grounds guy Ricky was a pleasure to talk with as well. We had a wonderful stay w our pups and cannot wait to return! Cheers to 2026!

Weekend Trip to WindSong in the treetops/hot tub

Myself, boyfriend and two pups had the pleasure of staying at the Wind Song yurt this past weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! The place was stunning, stocked for all needs and a great getaway. Jodee was great at communicating with any questions with incredible timing. I highly recommend checking the place out for a mental check out for the views are spectacular. Thanks for a memorable trip!

We stayed during a snow fall, so we did not get the full river experience- but even in November the view is beautiful. The little cabin was just enough for my young family of 4 and our dog. Host made it super simple and had everything we would need and made sure to check on us via messages to make sure the heater was sufficient (which it definitely was).

Weekend Trip to Rustic Appalachian Cabin

Super cute cabin! Had everything we needed for the weekend even a s’mores kit!! Host were extremely helpful when we got confused with the lock box. The view was great watching the sunrise with the fog over the trees, plenty of paths to walk if you don’t wanna go to the Stone Mountain trail. We wanted a quiet place to elope with some of our closest friends we got that and so much more. Check out was super easy would definitely recommend for a quiet romantic getaway or even a small family vacation! Pet friendly accommodations for the bestest of pets. I don’t know how much more I can recommend, if you’re on the fence take the leap you won’t regret it in the slightest. We looked a so many other options but ultimately kept coming back to this one every time and glad we did! Thank you so much to the amazing hosts for having us and allowing us to have this moment here it will never be forgotten

Loved it! There are 3 structures on the property and I’m so glad we got the A-frame. It’s the farthest away from parking and most secluded space. The sound of the creek drowns out all other sounds and you really feel like you’re there alone. The property is beautiful.

From this camping spot near Elkin, if you drive N on Hwy 21 towards Sparta, take the South route on the parkway, the North route was extremely underwhelming.

We were there in October, The drive on the parkway is beautiful. One of the biggest attractions on the entire parkway is Mabry mill. We were disappointed with it being closed, the restaurant is too. Also disappointed with how the surrounding area around the mill needs updating and landscaping. The Mill pond needs to be cleaned out, it’s not what it used to be to be.

Got to Rocky Knob late due to a HipCamp failure, but still found finding an open site and registering easy to do. Sites are all well marked and large, room for 1 vehicle with a roof top tent as well as options for where to place a ground tent.
