Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). absolutely a weekend I will return to in my dreams!! Donald was a wonderful host, going above and beyond to provide everything we could have needed. The site was beautiful, well kept, and stocked with everything from coffee and washcloths to kindling. The land itself was stunning and peaceful. Cannot wait to return in the fall to see the leaves change!

My review is long, but very honest, please read:) My second stay at Bear Run Farm, and I can honestly say this wonderful place has become my favorite escape from the busy, hectic pace of life. Amber, the host, was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and hospitable. The cabin was cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. And the blue lake… absolutely magical! 💙 The water is so clean, refreshing, and peaceful. I call it the Caribbean of West Virginia! 🌴🏞️ What makes Bear Run Farm truly special is the untouched, natural beauty surrounding it. Everywhere you look, there is lush greenery, beautiful trees, peaceful woods, and the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. It feels like a hidden paradise, far away from the noise and stress of everyday life. The peaceful landscape and fresh air make it the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the beauty of nature. I’m already looking forward to coming back again! ❤️

Recommended for families, 10/10. Great river access with fishing opportunities within the camp and lots of activities nearby. Owner Vince is very accommodating and does a great job of communicating everything you need in advance. He’s also present on site if you need anything. Lots of firewood and a coffee station that’s open 24/7.

This was our second visit - the first time we camped in tents. This time we stayed in the Acorn Palace, and it was everything I dreamed it would be. Such a perfect spot to camp in luxury! Kristen provides so many little touches to make the Palace the perfect cabin. She was welcoming and accommodating, and super easy to communicate with. We will definitely visit again!

Relaxing retreat. A lot of worthwhile outdoor activities 1 to 1.5 hrs away. Had everything we needed and it was very cozy and comfortable. Having 2 bathrooms is also a great perk especially since there were 4 of us. Host was helpful and informative. Teens enjoyed it as well. Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our glamping experience! It was nice to have the cabin and running water / toilets near by… we enjoyed hiking all the trails, met a nice couple … when we comeback we won’t stay in the Stanley cabin because cars drove right by our window a few times each night and people were partying at the main building at 2am one night so our sleep was not good

Great set up in a beautiful location. Vince provides great directions and tips for the campground. When we arrived, he was really hospitable, providing some hiking suggestions. There's a coffee cabin, clean bathrooms near campsites. All really well laid out with plans for even more, including a sauna. Town is close if you need some groceries or want to go to a restaurant. We're planning a return trip to Brooklyn Heights.

We had such a good experience this week! The cabin was as described with a short walk to the potties and the river. We were glad to have the A/C, fans, fridge, comfy mattresses, furniture and protection from the rain. Very private location with very nice people. We all felt very safe there. Hendrick was there when we arrived. He was friendly, helpful and informative. Vince always answered his phone to help with whatever was needed. We tubed or swam in the river every day.

Our family and group of extended family LOVED staying here. The owner, Vince, and host, Dave, were extremely kind and truly welcoming. The campgrounds are very well kept. Our children and their cousins all couldn’t get enough of the river and took full advantage of the tubes set out for visitors use. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

This is a great place to be! Right on the water small rapids easy water also. Cleanest porta potty I have ever seen! Love the garden part of the stay. Very welcoming. Great common area this is a trip through the hills to paradise!

We had a lovely stay! Our cabin area was tidy and very peaceful with the lull of the river in the background. We enjoyed walking to the bridge down the road and exploring the local trails and riverfront. Ample camping amenities: coffee/tea/drinks/wifi available near the office area, plenty of wood/fire starter for those who needed some, and the port a potty was clean. Pro tip: bring your own potable water or a filter. There is plenty of fresh water available, but it's not potable. Vincent was an incredibly accommodating and personable host and you can tell how hard he and his crew work to keep the site in tip-top shape!
