Weekend Trip to Solitude at Thornton Farm

We loved Marvin's Sugar Shack! All the comforts of home but with the peace and tranquility we desired! Waking up to a nice sunrise and only the sounds of nature, is amazing! Would highly recommend this getaway! Everything you need and so well kept ☆☆☆☆☆

Weekend Trip to The Guinea Farm, Field, and Forest

The Guinea farm is a real treat and so is Ian! Our large group rented the entire property and had an amazing time. I personally stayed in the tree house which was over the top and amazing! He thought of the little details in the decor and overall experience from design to functionality. My friends loved the cabin life and the hot shower included. Our children stayed at the suspended tent site which is being upgraded! The additional guests brought campers or tent camped in the field. We brought over 40 people (13 separate groups) and there was more than enough room for additional guest to stay. He provided us with firewood and some basic necessities. The portajohn was clean and sanitized. We ventured to the beach daily which was close. The best was how kind and accommodating Ian was to our group. He answered a million questions and was available for our needs including daily trash pickup. He even gave our kids the tour of his fowl including allowing them to hold the baby chicks! This was an over the top experience! Highly recommended from someone who likes the traditional Airbnb! Thank you Ian, thank you for being a part of our family and friend weekend!

4 nights at Fire Tower Family Farm

I can't say enough about this wonderful experience in Sharon's Winnebago. It has been retired on their property on a quiet road with plenty of bird life in addition to the chickens and goats who live there. Their 5 dogs will greet you with furry smiles and try to pull you into their yard with them to cuddle. Sharon and Leland were super, super friendly and helpful. The "cabin" is very well appointed with all you need for cooking and relaxing. I was there with 2 adult friends and we all slept comfortably after busy days in Williamsburg and Jamestown, both about a half hour away. I will look for a reason to return!

Beautiful site! We loved the tree house and had a wonderful time staying here. We were excited to play the N64 and use the telescope, and also enjoyed just sitting in and around the tree house. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing off after visiting the beach, and for washing dishes. We needed Ian's assistance a couple of times, and he was incredibly helpful and kind. Definitely recommend!

Staying at Ian's farm was a fun, relaxing experience! Ian was a really great, gracious host and we enjoyed getting to meet him and all the birds! We got a tour of the farm and got to hold and meet the birds after we arrived. We opted for the firewood challenge to see how much we could carry, which was a good time. The stargazer cabin is really well-built, cozy, and a nice, quiet getaway. We felt safe in the cabin even though there was a huge thunderstorm during our stay. The cabin's kitchen had everything you needed, the outdoor shower and composting toilet were comfortable to use, and the bed in the loft made for good sleep. The guinea fowl will keep you constant company, and they're so fun to watch and listen to! The beaches nearby are quiet and super quick to get to. Nearby Matthews also has a really good grocery store and small downtown for extra treats during the day or for picking up stuff to cook on the way to the cabin. We'd definitely visit again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get out to the country for a bit!

Treehouse was amazing. Ian works every day improving his sites. He thought of everything from wifi to Fairy lights. The grill is perfect for cooking anything you need. My daughter and I really enjoyed our time there and meeting all the animals. Snuggling with a baby goose might have been her favorite part of our trip!

Serenity and a calm, caring host who made sure we were comfortable. 2 real beds (a loft and a twin), a convertible couch, a fully reclining leather EZ chair, and extra bedding made sleeping comfy for 4. Cabin had heat and a/c. Awesome hot shower, outdoor sink, picnic table, tree swing, outdoor chairs, fire pit, fridge, grill, groceries in driving distance. Recommend for a refreshing retreat! ✌️

Already-inflated air mattresses on single cots were ready for our pillows and sleeping bags- the tent was very roomy, easily fit 4+, had a lantern, and let us wake up gently to bird sounds. The Guinea farm is 18 acres of feild and forest on the rural middle pennensula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded beaches and a boat launch. There is verly little traffic or light polution here, nature is at your fingertips. Come visit the farm and experience agrotourism at it's finest. Pick your own veggies in the community garden and meet the Guinea fowl! Enjoy the windernes and learn about the local ecosystem here on the middle pennensula. There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria is a primative site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy is a suspended tree tent in the pines 700' beyond that and seperated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an offgrid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property. Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

Peace and quiet equals “Solitude at my farm. I’m just like you. I want to camp at a quiet place in the country where it’s plenty of acres and no houses to look at and a clean bathroom and shower. Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.
