Hello! We are family farm mainly focused on Nigerian Dwarf and Mini-Nubian goats, Kunekune pigs, and silkie chickens! We also have a couple cows, peacocks, alpaca, ducks, quail, pigeons, sheep, mini equine, and rabbits. We can offer as much or as little farm experience as you’d like! Lend us a hand or book baby goat cuddling and sit in the pasture in a sea of friendly goats!! Baby goat cuddling and farm tours can be added on for an extra fee, check our extras! We usually get up early and do our farm chores, and depending on the time of year we could be bottle feeding baby goats or calves, delivering baby goats, or working on outdoor farm projects. Our home was built in 1864 and our barn is original! Our property is not far from Montpelier, the home of our 4th president, and about an hour from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. We love wine tasting in Charlottesville, and taking day trips to Shenandoah National Park. We are 45 minutes from Fredericksburg, 28 minutes from Culpeper, and 20 minutes from Lake Anna. Send us a message and learn more about all we have to offer!

Wolftrap Farm was owned by James & Dolley Madison during their time, and they called it Black Meadow.  Their home, Montpelier, is just across the mountains you see from the campsite.  It passed through the hands of various local farmers during the 19th & 20th centuries, and for many years was a dairy farm.  It became primarily a horse farm in the 1970's, when it was owned by the German Von Wulffen family. The Cuthrell family from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area acquired the farm in 2003 and converted it to a resort farm, featuring upscale vacation homes.  Beginning around 2013, the farm started morphing into primarily a wedding venue, and now hosts over 60 weddings each year.

We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

Welcome to Big Dipper Ranch Come escape to Big Dipper Ranch, where comfortable glamping, mountain views, and incredible stargazing come together in the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains. I first visited this property 19 years ago. One look at the magnificent Sugar Maple in full autumn color, and I knew I had found someplace special. Today, I’m fortunate to call these 23 acres home—and I love sharing this little piece of Virginia with our guests. Settle into one of our four comfortable, beautifully furnished glamping tents and enjoy a slower pace for a few days. I enjoy personally welcoming guests when they arrive, then giving you the privacy and space to make the property your own—whether that means relaxing by the pond, watching the stars, enjoying a quiet morning coffee, or simply doing absolutely nothing. And when you're ready for adventure, you're in the perfect place. Old Rag Mountain and Whiteoak Canyon are only about 15 minutes away, putting some of Shenandoah National Park’s most beautiful hiking practically in our backyard. You'll also find wineries, breweries, orchards, canoeing, fishing, and miles of beautiful Virginia countryside nearby. Or you may decide you don't want to leave the ranch at all. Spend a warm afternoon swimming in our cool, spring-fed pond, try your hand at fishing, wander the property, or simply sit back and enjoy the mountain views. When evening arrives, build a fire, settle into your chair, and look up—the dark skies here can put on quite a show. Big Dipper Ranch is close enough to Etlan and the surrounding area for necessities and local adventures, but far enough away to feel like you've truly escaped. Come hike, explore, swim, stargaze—or simply slow down for a while. If you have any questions before your visit, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to welcoming you to Big Dipper Ranch.

There is a beautiful cabin for guests to use. Sleeps 5 easily. We also have an outdoor kitchen and bar and a propane grill. Check out @sharpsislandrva on Insta to see pics! NOTE: The parking situation has changed due to construction! The parking information in the pictures is not correct (but Hipcamp won't let me delete them). Contact Andy at 804-212-6639 for parking instructions. There is no bridge to Sharp's Island, but we can rent you a canoe or kayak. It's super easy. Sharp's Island is so named because the Sharp family of Richmond owned it as far back as the 1850s. The old brick foundation you see in the pictures is all that remains of a house that was built on the island in 1895 and stood for 75 years! We consider ourselves stewards of an amazing historic, ecological, geologic, and recreational asset, and we would love to have you add your story to this island's long history! Learn more about this land: One-of-a-kind really only begins to describe 1-acre Sharp's Island! For starters, this is the only legal camping option in the city of Richmond. You read that correctly. This is your own private island, and it's right in the heart of downtown RVA! The Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain right here at Sharp's Island. That makes for amazing fishing, especially during the spring shad and striper runs.  Some other incredible things about camping at Sharp's Island: You can motor up to it from Ancarrow's Landing, canoe over from the trail just below Mayo Bridge, or make this the destination for your downriver raft/kayak trip; at summer river levels there are oodles of great swimming holes along the banks; fire pit ready and waiting for you. And lots more!

Welcome to our charming earthbound retreat nestled in the foothills of Virginia’s mountains! Before booking, please carefully review the full house description and rules. By confirming your reservation, you acknowledge and accept the property and its features as they are. Please note, our solar panels may sometimes be unreliable, especially with high energy usage. The backup generator is there for that reason, and we do not offer discounts if it is needed during your stay. 🌿 Nature immersion Located in a peaceful rural setting, our house offers a truly immersive experience in nature. Enjoy the rustic charm of the handcrafted round door, but be mindful that bugs may enter more easily due to the design. 🌞 Off‑grid living We want your stay to be enjoyable and memorable, so please come prepared for a natural, off‑grid experience. Refunds will not be provided if the generator needs to be used. 🏡 Unique design Step into an enchanting world of imagination with a stay in our cozy house, featured on Building Off the Grid (Season 13, Episode 3: Virginia Underground Home). The tiny house includes a Murphy desk hideaway bed (queen size), a dining nook, and a charming bathroom with a large copper soaking tub. Our dining area is a cozy, minimalist space designed for simple meals. We do not have a mini‑refrigerator at this time, so please bring a cooler if needed. While we do provide a stovetop, please note that it may occasionally cause slight fluctuations in the electricity. We recommend treating this as a camping‑style experience by bringing non‑perishable items or exploring the delicious takeout options available in nearby Scottsville. Every corner is filled with whimsical touches. 🌎 Eco‑friendly escape Completely off the grid, our eco‑friendly home runs on solar power and a well septic system. We encourage guests to disconnect from the outside world—there’s no TV or Wi‑Fi—so you can fully embrace the natural surroundings. The property spans nearly 24 acres, with some hiking trails started and future plans for gardens and archery targets. ⛺ Extra options If you are interested in a stay at the underground home but have a larger family or group of friends, we are permitted to allow tent camping, including dry campers, on the property as well.
