We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

Forest Gazebo

The Forest Gazebo is like a 16 foot open tree house overlooking the Enchanting Run and has additional space underneath it for a hammock and campfire. Gazebo includes firepit and 3 hammocks on top level. This is currently not curtained for rain events, nor screened from bugs, but bugs are not bad here do to large bird population. You have to walk in a little ways with gear. There is power and a 2.5 gallon water container you can fill at the main campground. Deep in the woods by a stream this campsite is private and has 3500 acres of riverine greenbelt space under conservation easement along Horsepen Run about half mile above the Rappahannock River. Hidden away in a little canyon we are really in the midst of civilization with many stores and amenities just 5 miles away. Vision Quest Camp Site

the Vision Quest Camp site is located right on Enchanting Run and is usually used for vision fasting retreats. It is a bit of a scamble to get to the site, so very little is packed in for food and equipment. The stay is usally 3 to 4 nights. I can support your nature solo immersion and offer tips and support this experience.

The main campground is small intimate forested space accessible with vehicle making it convenient to set up. It includes power and water, a composting toilet and outdoor shower. You can access the creek and the Retreat grounds easily from here. You can sign up for the Spa or other activities. Private Forest bathing or spiritually based life coaching sessions are also available. Camping Trailer

The Camping Trailer is at the Main campground with a great forest view facing away from the tent area. It is airconditioned and has a nice covered patio so you can sit out and watch the forest even in the rain. It is available year around but is winterized so water is supplied. Otherwise it is temperature controlled for 4 seasons. It is a great kitchen base camp for a group gathering. It is 24 feet, has a queen bed and a twin made from the table, but is most comfortable for 2 people. It has utensils for eating and cooking, a refrigerator with some condiments a shower and toilet. This overlooks the creek and nature conservancy area down to the River. There is an additional fire circle above the creek but you can have a fire and sit under the awning.

We really loved Darlene's camp site - from the well water to physical location and amenities [like the spa, composting toilet, shower, option for spiritual ceremonies, etc.], we had such a blast. She had no problem with our cat [you'd be surprised], and we essentially had the space to ourselves for the weekend. Personally, I loved being close to a water source, so the creek was a highlight for me! There was so much to see just walking the trails and I can't wait to explore more. Darlene herself is a very kind-hearted soul who enjoys building authentic + collaborative relationships. We look forward to future returns and music-making <3

Beautiful spot and Darlene was very accommodating. Unfortunately, had to leave early due to a pet medical issue (not related to the site). Absolutely look forward to going back!

Forest Gazebo
I was excited about this trip and was prepared with cold weather gear for the temperatures, and chose the forest gazebo in large part because it was forecasted to rain (since it has a roof). However when I arrived, Darlene was unhappy that I planned to camp in the gazebo, saying I should’ve known to call her to discuss the questions she said I should’ve had, which included I guess asking permission to camp in the gazebo and not the ground below the stairs down to the river. But I was still hopeful about my stay until the next day. Cell reception and wifi were nearly nonexistent at the gazebo (my phone usually read “SOS only”), which was not a big deal, except that Darlene wasn’t getting my replies to her messages. So she came down without warning to the site. She was very upset I hadn’t replied (I have proof I did, but I do believe she didn’t get it—iphone/android messages were the hardest to send) and ranted at me for twenty minutes until I cried about how she hates that people who want to book don’t have to call first, that I should’ve known to call before arriving because if she were staying someplace she would’ve had so many questions and why didn’t I, and then said she would bring me a gun for the bears, and when I said I didn’t know how to use one and really didn’t want a gun, she continued to press me on it over text and hipcamp messenger. Virginia’s wildlife sites say bears aren’t a big threat in the area in December but…it wrecked the trip.

A Magical Place

We spent the weekend at the main campground and it was lovely. Beautiful trail leading down to the creek and the Gazebo was a beautiful site. The walk to the Rappahanock river was full of excitement and I can see why this is a sacred and spiritual space. It was like walking through a magical forest, Enchanted indeed. Though it rained quite a bit there was plenty of tree cover to keep us dry and our fire going. Darlene was wonderful and made us feel welcomed and comfortable while allowing us to have space and solitude to connect with nature. I will certainly love to travel back and hope to enjoy a forest bathing session in the future.

My friend and I had a great time at the campsite! Even in the pouring rain, we were able to enjoy ourselves under the screened canopy. There were so many amenities on the property that one night wasn’t enough time to enjoy everything. We are looking forward to coming back!

We had a wonderful time camping on Darlene’s land! We had our roof top tent and it worked out perfectly. We walked part of the creek during the day and enjoyed a nice relaxing evening next to a fire. Darlene was quick to respond and a very gracious host. This was a much needed peaceful camping getaway!
