Weekend Trip to Arcadia Sanctuary

Beautiful area. Easy to access. The creek was fun to play in. Lots of dogs. (I wish mine was Friendlier) the music was awesome! #Brokenhalosband Everyone was so friendly!

We loved camping here! Fran was very accommodating and kind. We met her for check in and she let us do our own thing. She was also very respectful that we had a dog with us and let us know that they keep their dogs enclosed during the day when they have campers with dogs. The campsite felt secluded and private despite being very close to the bathrooms, which were clean and in great shape. We loved the animals too! The guinea hens paid us a visit on our way out and all the cats and dogs were very friendly. We also loved listening to the frogs at night. The views were amazing too. On our second night the band played and the music was great, but it was a bit loud from our site.

3 nights at Anvil Campground

I really enjoyed this site. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The pool was fantastic for the hot weather. The arcade was also a nice place to relax and play billiards in. The staff members were professional and friendly. The history makes it a really cool site and it is a convenient drive to local attractions.

1 night at Hippie Hollow

Beautiful land/creek. Outdoor kitchen is a cool addition. Jeremy super welcoming and friendly. Great stay!

Camping by the creek makes for an awesome weekend. Jeremy and his dog, Dansby were wonderful host. Very relaxing just putting your chair in the creek and spending the day.

Weekend Trip to Traveler's Meadow

My husband and I enjoyed our time in Broadway. High Knob was as described. Apa came to visit for a while. The bathhouse was clean and accessible. We were happy to see that our host provided an assortment of amenities for the lite travelers. Thank you Nathan for your hospitality.

3 nights at Traveler's Meadow

Glamping at Kennedy Peak was great! Nathan was super helpful and accommodating, even though we reached out to him an hour before we needed the reservation. Nathan's land is on an uphill incline, although the Kennedy Peak plot was level. I was able to level my trailer, and the adjacent plots appeared to be level as well. The grounds were very quiet. A delightful feature was the presence of a large, frienfly family of friendly ducks.

3 nights at Hippie Hollow

We had a great experience at Hippie Hollow! We stayed in a pop up camper and had a great time! It’s a spacious camper near the restrooms which is super convenient. Nice restroom and shower, nothing big but definitely enough. The property and creek is absolutely beautiful. We loved getting to experience the ‘Why not Wednesday’ live music by the creek. Our kids, 9 and 10, had a great time swimming, running around, playing with the cats, and even some fishing. Jeremy was super friendly and accommodating as were the other campers. It’s a great little community camp spot. 10 out of 10 recommend!

2 nights at Phantom Hill Forest Retreats

Cute site and walking trails. Having the grill and tables and wood right by the site was amazing. Hosts were communicative and maintained the sites daily.

1 night at Traveler's Meadow

Great map to find the spot, even in the dark. There was wood waiting for us when we got to our site. The grill tops for the fire ring is an awesome touch. Bathroom was clean and well lit. Definitely would come back.

3 nights at Beaverdam Falls

Absolutely perfect camping experience! Everything was so convenient and so beautiful! I cannot hype this place up enough, it was paradise. We brought two young kids (1 and 4) and a dog and it was such a peaceful and relaxing time, if I could afford to go back monthly I would. 10/10 ideal family camping experience.

Weekend Trip to Thunder BRidge

This was our second time camping here in the past year- Adam is super responsive and helpful, you get a lot of wood for $10 (compared to Va state parks), the sites are well kept and all unique, and the bathhouse is clean. We originally were going to camp at butterfly 2, but Adam let us move to woodpecker 3 (which has a cover) to pitch our tent under for forecasted thunderstorms. He also helped us with our river tubing route, where we put in from his nearby river access (which happens to have very cute farm animals) and got out at the Glasgow public access which took about two hours. I also lost my keys and he helped look for those. It thunderstormed for part of our trip so we hung out in the super nostalgic main lodge and played ping pong to wait out the storm. Overall a second time great experience and we will definitely be back- this property is so cool and conveniently located!

Weekend Trip to Endless Caverns RV Resort

I dug camping at Jeremy's. Beautiful property. Great vibe. Very attentive host who makes it happen. Great faculties and hook ups etc.

We stayed in a pull through site for two nights. Nice level site with a fantastic stone built fire pit. We were in a 31 foot class C with our car in tow and had plenty of room. Camp is quiet and well cared for. Enjoyed the natural growth around and in the site Great communication from the host prior to our arrival. Easy check in. They have a great camp store. Pool looked nice…next time we will be in it! We also took the cavern tour with Wyatt as our guide. What a smart dude, and entertaining too! The tour is a must do because it is fascinating. The only thing we didn’t like was that we didn’t plan to stay longer. Hope to make it back for longer next time.

1 night at Adventure Cabin in Blue Ridge Mtns

We loved staying at the adventure cabin! We had a lovely time relaxing in the hot tub and laying in the hammocks. We had 2 children with us and they slept well on the pullout, but we also think it’s the perfect get-away cabin for a couple. Fancy Gap is a cute town and we would be happy coming through this way again sometime!

Weekend Trip to Camping on the Hazel River

Hippy Hollow was a relaxed camp with a lively creek flowing in our backyard. We enjoyed talking with the host and other campers at the outdoor kitchen and watching the dogs, chickens, and ducks roam the grounds at their leisure. It's so close to Floyd and only a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway so exploring the area is easy. The honey wagon restroom on a trailer was so welcome - regular sink, shower, and flushing toilet (instead of the porta potty). Our site had an amazing lounge area with fire pit - we didn't use it because we were tired and it rained every night.

My recent camping trip to Scot and Peggy's property was an absolute delight, offering a truly peaceful and secluded escape. From the moment of booking, Scot and Peggy were incredibly responsive and communicative, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. Their clear communication ensured there were no issues whatsoever. The campsite itself was ideally situated right on the river, providing several convenient access points along the various sites. This was a fantastic feature, allowing for easy enjoyment of the water. Beyond the individual sites, there was a large, inviting field and common area, perfect for guests who wished to gather and socialize. What truly stood out was the quiet and secluded nature of the site. It offered a beautiful and serene environment, perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. It was a truly peaceful stay, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a tranquil camping experience.

Weekend Trip to Thunder BRidge

Butterfly 1 was the perfect spot for our family! Our girls loved having easy walking access to the river. The firepit was perfect set up for s’mores. It was great to have the seating area by the firepit and inside the shelter. The spot was private and quiet with easy access to nearby gas station for essentials we forgot. We will definitely keep this spot in mind for future adventures!

Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. Private Farm Minutes to Cville

This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Beaverdam Falls

Nestled on a private 65-acre farm in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia, Beaverdam Falls is located on VA SR-311 (Kanawha Trail) in the Sweet Springs Valley. Nestled in the old community of Earlehurst, between Covington & Roanoke, Beaverdam Falls are an historic series of waterfalls on private property. The Falls are at the headwaters of Dunlap Creek and are the terminus for the Sweet Springs. Available for guest stays & recreation, are the Upper Falls portion. Surrounded by the verdant George Washington National Forest, the Upper Falls, displays a constant waterfall of around 40-feet in height, & decorates the final mile stretch of the Sweet Springs, both on our property. Additional beautiful cascades pepper our tract of Beaverdam Falls as well. This private tract of unparalleled Virginia countryside will simply astonish your expectations. As the source of the Falls, Sweet Springs Creek, serves as a long, unique home for trout, calcified travertine rock, chalybeate water, and ancient beaver dams (as well as active ones!). Beaverdam Falls is a rare place for the lack of stone and the centuries of beavers who have left their trace in & on our creek—and swamp, the Stick Marsh, which has an active beaver dam. Be careful! Arcadia Sanctuary

Arcadia is the name we gave to our 83-acre mountainside retreat center for Earth-Based Spirituality. It’s nestled on the south-eastern slope of 4000-foot Mount Pleasant in Central Virginia, convenient to I81. (Note, there is a town called Arcadia off I81, but that is not us. Not to confuse.) We have a mountain creek with waterfalls, towering Beech and Sycamore trees, Witch Hazels leaning over the water, trout, crayfish, snakes, salamanders, and all the rest. We have about 2000 feet of the vertical mountainside with trails to explore. (But the stage and most of the camping is down closer to creek-level.) There are more sites higher up the mountain if you like more isolated camping. More of a trek to the bathrooms/showers/freshwater. We have one of the finest private stages on the East Coast with a top-notch sound system and a natural amphitheater which is like a single pie wedge of a Stadium that has regular live performances throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Our yurt is regularly booked as a unique glamping experience. There are chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guinea fowl free-roaming. Two dogs, nine cats, and several humans are blessed to call this home. There are two bridges that cross Thrashers Creek to get to Arcadia. The first is not suitable for large vehicles and trailers. The second bridge is our recommended entry way. Be aware we live on side of Mount pleasant and the roads on site are graveled and somewhat windy.

Little Rustic Cabin Near Onancock

If you are looking for a unique experience and appreciate history, architecture, and exquisite design, you just found your spot. First of all, the location. The cabin is located on a rural road that is a five minute drive to downtown Onancock, which offers a coffee shop, several restaurants, bakery, shops, Saturday farmers’ market, and the harbor. Chincoteague and the famous ponies are 35 minutes north, and bougie Cape Charles is 40 minutes south. When you open the door to this 300’ gem, you will step back in time to a simpler way of life. This century-old building was moved to the site and has been brought back to life, preserving the original character, while adding the creature comforts we love of today. Soaring 12 foot ceilings provide a spacious air, and the original wood interior offer charm and patina that simply cannot be manufactured. In the past, it was a barber shop and then a poker joint. This place is a design nerd’s dream, a clever combination of old, new, and vintage pieces, handmade pottery and art, with close attention paid to each chosen piece. Lace curtains and blackout blinds cover all your light preferences for peaceful sleeping. The queen bed is a high end hybrid mattress with traditional coil base and memory foam top. A giant 55” TV is directly across from the bed for cozy streaming. The modern bathroom has a vintage wall sink found on site, and terrific water pressure from a rain shower head with instant, never ending Rinnai hot water. The kitchen has an ample antique sideboard as your sink, apartment size refrigerator, induction hot plate, coffee, microwave, and combo convection toaster oven/air fryer. The marble table seats two. A comfortable down-filled loveseat adds another lounge option. You will enjoy all the artistic touches around the room. Did I mention the front porch??? It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon wine, and evening stargazing from rocking chairs with your boo. A pretty view of a wide field is across the street and will sooth your weary soul.
