This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

View was beautiful!! Campground was very nice and had a fire pit and everything we needed. Will definitely come back again and maybe try some of the other sites on the ground.

Bob was a wonderful host who stopped to chat and introduce his dog to us. Site 3 was maintained and had a great view of the horse pastures, which is why we chose it. We are grateful for the pond with kayaks and the full bathroom we could use. It was quiet and serene, yet when we needed to go into town to grab ice it was only a 6 minute drive to the store. 30 minutes to Shenandoah National Park, some kayaking tours, and some state parks so plenty of opportunity for hiking.

Site 3 - Tent / RV site

Great time at Sugarday Farm

Camping at tent site 3 on Sugarday Farm was wonderful. The view of the farm and mountains to the west was spectacular. The site was well shaded by a large hickory tree and there was a table with hand sanitizer and a citronella candle underneath. The fire pit was not in great condition, but with daytime temps in the 90s we were not using it. Bob came by to say hello with one of the 4 or so friendly dogs on the property, but then gave us privacy. The available bathroom with shower at the farmhouse was very clean. The property feels secluded but is only 5 or so minutes from the city of Charlottesville and the Barracks Road Shopping Center. You can hear a little traffic in the distance, but only when drivers are revving or accelerating in an obnoxious manner. This was our second time camping on Bob's land (the first at site 3) and we will surely be back again.

Site 6 - Remote tent site

The property was pretty. This trip was perfect for family camping memories with the kids. We were at site 6 which had a ton of shade. It is tick season and we saw a ton. Most camp sites don't have tables. The fire pit doesn't have a grate but we found stones.
