Country Camping at Its Best!
Healing in Nature
Best hosts in the world .
Thank you so much Cheryll & Anthony .
We had the best time . You both went above and beyond to make this weekend so memorable. Our tribe had so much fun touring the property , chasing sheep , looking at baby horses and of course going riding . The campground was beautifully designed with an awesome log cabin that we used as a makeshift kitchen . Anthony was always one phone call away and super helpful the entire weekend . We will definitely be back !

Country Camping at Its Best!
Nice getaway spot with great hosts. I was able to enjoy my solitude and felt the safety of the hosts near by. This is perfect for a solo female camper like myself.

Country Camping at Its Best!
The campsite is private and has a nice fire pit. The host family was friendly, checked on us, and were a great source of local history. They are also very covid-safe! It rained while we were there and the ground did not get muddy or hold water which was a plus.

Beautiful
This site was absolutely beautiful. Tony & Cheryl went above and beyond to ensure our trip was comfortable. We are an LGBT+ couple and we felt safe and cared for here.
The woodland is full of interesting things and the farmland is full of cute animals! We especially loved petting and feeding the horses. We even had a riding lesson for a small additional fee.
Highly recommended. :-)

Ghost Trip
Unfortunately we didn't end up making our trip, but our experience with Cheryl and Antony leading up to the trip was outstanding. We will definitely be booking at a future date.

A gentalman farmer
I am traveling with my 10 year old son and Anthony gave him THE BEST time ever! What a gentleman farmer! Calder ( my son), got to ride a horse, learned to shot a bebe gun (I has asked in private if it was ok), chase, heard sheep and the place is beautiful. As with any camping, be prepared for ticks and mosquitoes...but there are beautiful dragon flies to help fight the good fight. Plus, Anthony hooked us up with metal torches that were safe and sound. Highly recommend and we WILL be back!

Horses, sunrises, and hospitality
Cheryll and Tony have such a wonderful property. Scenic views of the sun rising over the pastures, trees outlining the property, and a forest that was nice and dense.
We were greeted by Tony and his horse Benjamin at the corner of their lot. Benjamin was extremely friendly (as were all the horses). Tony and Cheryll then showed us to the two campsites. Tony has recently built a little cabin in the woods. It's really great and provides some shelter if you're worried about the rain. We decided to stay in our tent but it was definitely nice to have that option.
The trails, scenery, and overall hospitality were fantastic and very worth our time and money.
Getting to the property was a little harder than expected. I believe that we were hoping the directions button here on Hipcamp would get us directly in front of the house. It'll get you close, but look specifically for the address provided by Cheryll.

It’s a hit !
My husband and I took our four kids to Country Camping at its finest and we ALL were impressed. Not only were the hosts amazing the land was too. The kids enjoyed the horse back ride and could not get enough of the sheep. Tony built this AWESOME log cabin that the kids loved and even made a point that “the next time we come back we’re sleeping in here”. The set up was so amazing and brilliant. Perfect for family and even beginners. If this is something you considered enough to read the reviews I promise you this will not be a let down. Give it a go!

Country Camping at Its Best!
Tony, one of your hosts at Country Camping at It’s Best, is one of the nicest people we’ve met in our travels for Hipcamp. He and his wife, Cheryll, have a 46 acre horse ranch that also includes sheep and a sweet, sweet cat.
Located in Virginia and just a few miles from the North Carolina line, this property has several different places for you to pitch your tent. You can hug the fence line if you want a clear view of the farm and the horses or you can go back into the woods on some of the trails they’ve made and find a spot of your own. They have a few clearings back there that are level and private. Tony said he’s in the process of making two fire pits and will have them available for campers to use.
If you’re in an RV or a van, no worries, there are several places to choose from. We found a spot not too far from the tent sites that had good shade, a view of the beautiful pasture and was easy to turn around. It was also level.
No matter what kind of camping you’ll be doing, be sure to take a walk back on some of the trails and check out the swamp. There’s a lot to love about this spot! We hope you’ll give it a shot if you’re looking for a quiet getaway, are interested in staying on a farm or are just passing through!
