We loved John's Hipcamp site! This is a beautiful and quiet setting. However, it was still very near stores, restaurants, etc. They have chairs set up on a sandy beach right at the river's edge. A nice dock that you can access. It was enjoyable watching the different watercraft that would go by. We would definitely love to come back!

More than a camp, River Sunrise is a vacation destination. Unlimited swimming and sunbathing on a private beach in a river with dolphins and jumping fish really can't be matched at public facilities, nor can the warm hospitality of the hosts.

This spot is a gem for so many reasons. First of all, the view, wow! Pictures barely do it justice. We were looking up places to explore nearby & even though we did visit other places, we realized we couldn’t beat the private beach & incredible water front we had right in front of our camper.
We really appreciated the very kind & generous hosts and their super sweet dog, Ali (sp?) for opening their property for others to enjoy. They even offer their kayaks and an awesome shower with hot & cold water (seriously, it’s a really cool shower. Private, spacious, nice warm shower while listening to birds & feeling a refreshing outdoor breeze)
John & Courtney were available for questions or help but also gave us privacy. We were happy we got to chat with them a bit because they are a such a nice couple.

John our host was friendly, gracious and a non-intrusive host that welcomed us to his home to enjoy River Sunrise. Which we must admit was difficult to see as we were sleeping peacefully. John provided all the necessary amenities that made our stay cool, comfortable. We will be returning just so we can make a morning sunrise!

We had a nice stay here for the long Memorial Day weekend. John showed us around the property (which is beautiful), and gave us a few tips on where to go for dinner (Hoppin’ Johnz).
Nice location in a quiet neighborhood with a lovely view of the river that we never tired of.
Also recommend a visit to Edenton - take the trolley tour!
John and Courtney are great hosts, so thankful for our stay.

This was our second stay here and once again it was a wonderful experience. John is a fantastic host and always makes us feel incredibly welcome. This trip we arrived a bit early, and he was so kind and accommodating, letting us relax and hang out until it was time to head to our venue. He even had the kayaks ready for my kids when we arrived, which they were so excited about.
The atmosphere here is peaceful and relaxing, and the view is absolutely beautiful. The driveway is huge, flat, and very easy to maneuver, which made things so much easier for us. The shower is also fantastic with plenty of hot water, which was especially appreciated after long, exhausting regatta days.
Since we were in town for a regatta, we had to leave very early each morning and couldn’t always disconnect our shore power before heading out. John kindly spooled up our cable and had it waiting for us to grab on our way home. That level of thoughtfulness and hospitality really stands out.
John and his wife even stopped by the races to check things out. They were so welcoming and genuinely seemed happy to have us as guests, even inviting us back in the fall for head race season.
We truly enjoyed our stay and absolutely plan to return in the fall!

We had an amazing time! The hosts were the kindest people. The space was perfect. And the views from the lot were spectacular. They are close to so many things to do. It is a quiet place as well.
Don't hesitate to rent this space. You will love it!

John and his wife are perfect hosts! The location is perfect if you have activities in Elizabeth
City. The outer banks are about 1hr and 15 minutes but doable. The location cannot be beat, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We were there when the wind was blowing hard so no break from that. We loved it and would stay there again. Jim, Aiken SC

What a picturesque setting on the river to enjoy a beautiful sunrise & the day that follows. Views of the water, nice sandy “beach” (w/adirondack chairs), level cement pad, power & water, Wi-Fi, warm outdoor enclosed shower, dock and gracious, friendly hosts is what you’ll find at Riverview.
We had a fabulous stay despite the cool weather. Our hosts went above and beyond by not only including us on a boat ride, but also chased down (and captured) our canopy that “took sail” in a gust of wind.
If Riverview is available and you’re looking for a quiet place to hand out…book it! You can thank us later :-)

Fantastic water view-the sun rises are gorgeous. It was a great location for visiting surrounding areas. We really enjoyed just sitting and watching the water! John was very helpful and prompt in answering all our questions. A hidden treasure for sure.
