Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land. The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river. If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day. Learn more about this land: The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. With 350 acres of private ground, adjacent to thousands of acres of state park and forest, Wild Yough offers plenty of space to spread out, stretch your legs, watch the deer, and howl with the coyotes. You won’t be packed into a row of RV’s or tents where you can hear your neighbor snoring. You won’t have to set up camp in the rain. And you’ll never have to sleep on the ground! You’ll have your own heated hut, warm soft bed, and private space for long evenings around the campfire. And our bathhouse and pavilion facilities are designed with comfort, cleanliness and relaxation in mind. Oh yeah… large field for enjoying lawn games or just relaxing quietly under an endless blanket of evening stars. Each hut is furnished with a double bed, additional seating/pullout bed, cabin cooking center with stove, dining table, LED lighting, and a propane heater. Outside, each hut has comfortable chairs on the porch, a large picnic table, and a fire-ring/cooking grill with extra seating. And all this is just a short walk to the bath house and paviliion! Our bathhouse is designed to bring you all of the comforts of home, with modern, comfortable features which include full size showers, plenty of counter space, professional ventilation, and regular maintenance by our partners at Offlake Rentals. Additionally, we have outside water facilities and separate, deep sinks for washing dishes. The adjacent pavilion area is furnished with comfortable lounge furniture and picnic tables, making it the perfect place to socialize with your fellow Glampers or host a pot-luck meal with a large group. Here’s what else you will find at the bathhouse and pavilion: – Outside spigot and hose for quick cleanup (also great for doggie washing) – Sockets for charging mobile phones and laptops (leave property at your own risk) – Take one leave one book and magazine library – Selection of board games and outdoor activities – Information on the area and suggested must see and do activities

Wild Yough Glamping Huts
The Wild Yough Glamping Huts are absolutely one in a million! My dogs and I had the most perfect stay here hiking the many trails on the property as well as Swallow Falls and Herrington Manor Park. Every detail is so well thought out for the glamping guests! The huts are so nicely spaced out and stocked with everything one could need. Communication with Beth was amazing..she went above and beyond to send recommendations and information tailored to my stay. Everything about the WYGH ensured we were comfortable and able to make the most out of our time in the area!

I ABSOLUTELY loved this trip! The rock garden trail was beautiful with all the green fern and foliage. We witnessed tadpoles in the pond, baby birds in a nest, deer on the trail and a bluebird welcoming us into the grounds. We had a precious time making new memories here. If you are looking for a space away from crowds and for solitude/quietness, this is it.

Very Comfy Stay!
We absolutely loved staying here! It was quiet, secluded and cozy. The hosts thought of everything! There is a rustic kitchen in the Delta cabin we stayed in, hammock, fire ring, new picnic table, camp chairs, hot dog sticks, tableware for 4, decks of cards, firestarters, candles and battery operated lights (there is no electric at the cabin but there is at the pavillion) The bed was comfy and they had lots of extra blankets and a small propane heater for chilly nights. You can walk multiple trails or find books, board games, volleyballs, cornhole and darts at the pavillion. There's also a grill, outdoor sink and spigot and a mens and womens bath house with hot water! You can have a fire just outside the pavillion as well and enjoy the herb garden and flowers potted around. We rate our stay 10/10

Beautiful Property and Cabins
I came here with my pup for a 3 night getaway. The property is absolutely beautiful! I loved the hiking trails, the proximity to the river, and all the national parks near by. The cabin is very clean and cute and has everything you would need to relax. Beth and the management company are all responsive and helpful. They even set up a campfire for me on my first night. I would highly recommend it. My only suggestions are to make sure you bring your own lantern/headlamp and candles (there is no electricity in the cabin), maybe a cell phone charger portal (charging is at the bathhouse), and extra propane if you are going in the colder months. It is very near the town so you can always buy whatever you need anyway.

A lovely little cabin in the woods, private and inviting. Far enough from the other neighboring cabins, but close enough to feel included and could chat and interact if need be. All amenities were there and made staying there so easy. Everything was clean and kept up, even the trails. The only item that could be improved would the river access at Otter Point, be aware it is muddy and steep.

This is a gorgeous property and the accommodations are truly wonderful and very clean!! We were there in early June 2020 and the experience exceeded our expectations. The huts are fully decked out with everything you need. Each one has a private fire pit, picnic bench, and covered porch. The shared pavilion has a bbq, lots of seating, and tons of games. And the bathrooms are immaculate! There are tons of hiking trails in the area and lots of other outdoor activities. We will definitely return and we are telling everyone we know how fabulous this place is.

Beautiful and peaceful glamping
These huts had everything you need for a successful camping experience. All you need to bring is food and a set of bed sheets! The land is beautiful and there are multiple state parks within a 10 min drive. The bathrooms were really nice too! There were about 4 other huts nearby but they are far enough apart in the woods where we felt privacy the whole time.

We stayed here during the middle of October at the Stanley hut. The foliage color was nice, and the weather was scattered light rain, changing to snow overnight. Our group consisted of two couples in or 30’s. We booked the Stanley since it also included the tipi, which the other couple had planned to use. However, due to the low temperatures, plywood floor of the tipi, and the invitingly cozy Stanley on site, we all just opted to stay in the same hut. The tipi would be great in the summer, but I wouldn’t have wanted to sleep there and wake up to snow cover on the ground like we had in mid October. The hut has a small propane space heater that kept the temperature comfortable when operated at the low setting. If you are visiting during cooler weather, I would recommend bringing a minimum of four to five 1-lb. propane canisters per day for cooking and heating. Check out Swallow Falls State Park located minutes away, for some short “hikes” appropriate for nearly all ages and ability levels. We would have liked to explore more in the area, but the bushwackers at the Honi got the best of us. I would definitely recommend staying at Wild Yough for a nice base camp to use for exploring the western MD and northern WV outdoors attractions. We were torn between booking a cabin, or an actual camping trip for the weekend, and the Wild Yough Huts fit perfectly right in the middle of our two options.

Absolutely beautiful place to camp. We had a great time exploring the trails and playing chess by the fire. We will definitely be back.
