Early August Update The river is at it's 100% peak best summer quality this week. Very warm and PERFECT for lounging, floating, kayaking and snorkeling (20 ft visibility or better).
A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. THE CAMPGROUND IS REGISTERED WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHORT TERM RENTALS LICENSE # STR25-00075. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites.
Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career.

Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard.

- OVERLANDERS: You can bring your overland camper if you want, but you must park your vehicle in the parking spot across from your site at sites 1-3. It is a safety issue to block the entryway/exit lane. Site 4 is large enough to accommodate your vehicle and these rules do not apply there.
-This is a place for relaxation and reflection by the creek. No loud groups, or partying allowed. If your neighbor can hear your music it is too loud. If your host can hear it, you will be asked to turn it down or off all together. Again, please come here to chill, playing football/volleyball or similar sports and screaming/cheering while your neighbor is trying to enjoy their time here is rude.
-This is a pack it in, pack it out site. This includes food waste, and any garbage produced. Please respect that :) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BURN ANY WASTE IN THE FIRE RING BEFORE CHECKING OUT. DO NOT THROW FOOD SCRAPS IN THE CREEK!
-There is NO FISHING, kayaking or boating. Go for a swim and float, no prob! But please float in the vicinity of your camp, so as not to disturb other campers.
- Please do not invite visitors to your campsite. This is an insurance issue, no exceptions. If you want friends and family to experience our beautiful spot, please have them sign up and book a site, wouldn't that be more fun anyway!? People coming to our land who are not booked at a site will immediately be shown off the property.
-Due to many guests asking for earlier arrival and later departure times, we are strictly adhering to the posted check in and check out times.
- No generators!

30 acres of mostly reclaimed farmland. We are located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive.
Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing.
Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support!

Looking to tend to you? Would it be to rest in nature and soak up the sounds and wonder of our wooded landscape, explore hiking trails and national and state parks, float down the Potomac, and/or visit historic sites and towns? Fern Yabin (a hard sided yurt) is nestled in a forest on a ridge (Elk Ridge) directly across from the Maryland Appalachian Trail. We are tucked down in a holler surrounded by streams, towering Poplars, wildlife and dappled sunshine. The land hosts some animals - a goat, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks while growing medicinal plants, seasonal edible berries/fruits (wineberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, elderberries, vine kiwi, pawpaw, etc.) and rocks (plenty of them). There is a couple of acres enclosed with an electric fence where the livestock guardian dog (Luna) roams with the animals. We also sell farm fresh eggs.
Fern Yabin is a rustic hard sided yurt style cabin that has hot and cold water, composting toilet, outdoor shower (cold water only), a indoor soaking tub, hot water kettle, an outdoor propane grill, ceiling fan, outdoor patio and fire pit, skylight, WiFi, and lots of character. The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. If you are a thru hiker, drop off and pick up is available for a fee. Please inquire upon booking.
We are 10 minutes to the Appalachian Trail (Weverton Cliffs/Gathland SP and Crampton Gap) and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers (great for tubing/kayaking/wading/swimming). There are outdoor outfitters within 15 minutes where all kinds of wonderful adventures await including a brewery with a stunning vista of the river and area. We are 15 minutes away from historic Harpers Ferry. Antietam National Battlefield and other historic sites are within 30 minutes. For amazing dining opportunities and small city life - Frederick, MD, Boonsboro, MD, Brunswick, MD, Shepherdstown, WV and Charles Town, WV are about a 30 min drive. We are also close to several state parks in the tri state area (MD, VA, WV).

This trip was definitely refreshing! It was easy to locate the Hip camp by the sign on the road. Once we arrived the camp site was as expected, on the top of a hill with an amazing view. Plenty of room away from other campers. The camp site provided us with trash bags and clean porta potties. The host was very responsive and even checked to on my group to see if everything was alright! Plenty of places to walk and fish. I would highly recommend to anybody looking to do a weekend getaway!

What a tucked away gem!! We had an awesome time camping here with our kids! Host was kind enough to move us to a quiet space away from other guests so we had total privacy and quiet. The site is very private. Other campsites are near you but only 1 seemed occupied besides us. The path to the C&O canal is steep and the path on the other side of it to the river is very steep but the river has a large open area for fishing, swimming and kayaking. We had a blast kayaking!! There were 2 life jackets for adults/older children and 1 puddle jumper life jacket for small children.
The C&O canal is right behind the campsite but you can't see it only hear hikers every so often. There was no noise at night beside insects, it was so peaceful. Highly recommend!!

This was the perfect spot for our family. We had 7 people with us, 2 adults and 5 kids aged 7 to 17 and 1 large dog. We spent 2 nights in July and the weather was warm, but not unbearable. Spot 9 was fine for us and we went to the river constantly. The river was great, it was nice and quiet at night, no road noise, nothing just seclusion! Greg, the owner, was really helpful and down to earth. I really appreciate him providing us with a 5 gallons jug of water to wash our hands. The wood was more than generous for the price paid and it lasted a long time. Loved the site loves the river, loved the stay. We will be back!

Willows Farm offers a gorgeous camp setting on an elevated, level spot surrounded by stunning farmland, pastures, cattle and horses. Privacy, clear skies, expansive views with sunrises & sunsets and an awesome fire pit…can’t ask for more. We utilized the water and 20amp electric for our 36’ Class A .

We had a great time at Strawberry Crossroads. We stood in the cabins. We had a good experience there. No issues, pretty clean. The restrooms and showers were clean as well. We were able to grill and chill with no issues. TJ was a great host. Always on point and easy to reach. I will recommend this place to anyone that loves the outdoors.

Angela and her family have a beautiful and well-cared for piece of land. Me and my two kids very much enjoyed our night staying on their property and appreciate the obvious care they put into making it a comfortable site. Kids particularly loved the small creek and the rooster. I loved that it was a wide open space where they could run around and explore and still be visible while I sat near the camp fire. Highly recommend!

Western Maryland
