My father tells stories of it being filled with guests all summer long! Over the years there was few upgrades and now it's in need of a facelift. Landscaping, electric upgrades and bathhouse remodels were completed Spring 2021. We will continue to renovate in phases it's been a labor of love, but you can still see the beauty of this rural location and enjoy the peace and quiet. Hope you enjoy your stay. Lots of trees, shade and nature. It's located near New Germany State Park, 1.5 miles by car, less than a mile by foot. The state park has a lake and hiking trails. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den. There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations : Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. The Renovated Barn at Seneca Rocks is an actual barn, located on a little farm, complete with farm animals! Goats, chickens, peacocks, ducks, and a pig live at the other side of the barn. The Barn is located on a one acre lot, shared with the host's home. I give guests privacy while they are here, but I do come out to the barnyard twice a day to feed and tend the animals. The property is very close to many outdoor recreation areas such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, Dolly Sods, and Canaan Valley where visitors can rock climb, hike, zipline, ski, etc, etc! *Adults aged 18 and older only, sorry no exceptions. This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den. There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations : Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. This property also borders Laurel Ridge State Park. There is a Dollar General and a gas station about 15 minutes away for convenience needs.

Evergreen Grove Campsite was the first Hipcamp site I've stayed at and Kristen's space was exactly what the description and pictures implied. The Water Shed was convenient and had all the things I needed. There was even firewood for the fire pit. The space was close to Kristen's house, but still peaceful. Kristen was sweet and greeted me once I arrived. There were hikes within walkable distance. My only regret is that I'd stayed two nights instead of one!

Virgil & Pam really go above and beyond at The Fern House! The cabin was comfy and stocked with everything one could need for an extended weekend away. Our hosts were generous and gracious. They provide great communication and hospitality. We spent 3 nights and wish it could've been longer! Our pups loved the mile walk around the property each morning plus great hiking spots nearby. We took advantage of the fireplace, local eatery suggestions, and the loft was the perfect hideaway for resting and waking to beautiful wooded views. We cant wait to come back!

Really enjoyed camping on Vincent's campgrounds! We went for three nights in late October and the fall foliage was out of a painting. The coffee pavilion was cute and I thought the firewood was a good deal. We were on RF2, one of the large riverfront campgrounds and really enjoyed being right on the water. No one else was on the other two riverfront campgrounds so the privacy was nice; not too many trees in between our camp and RF3 if there had been others there. We took a drive up to the Olson Observation tower (maybe 15 minutes away) and it was a view I'll never forget. Definitely the highlight for me!

Our spot was very quiet & peaceful ~ plus the stars put on a beautiful show at night! We were briefly visited by a cow & enjoyed listening to the birds that flew by. Definitely a Hipcamp worth checking out ~ I would love to return & stay the night in one of the small lodging spots, the property had a lot to explore & much to offer.

Spent a weekend during the fall season of 2025. Perfect cabin tucked away in a different section away from most of the RVs. The river runs next to it which will be wonderful during rains and when the water levels are up. We traveled as a family of 4 whereas the cabin can sleep 9 - 2 bunk beds for 4 kids. Elkins town is about 10 -15 minute drive for all groceries - Kroger, Walmart and all essentials. Strongly recommend for people who love to enjoy an RV park but want to maintain their own personal space..

We had the loveliest time and the hosts Eric and Vicki are tremendous. She brought us the best ribs and macaroni salad and potato salad out of nowhere as they had extras! Kind and sweet. . Land is gorgeous. Fabulous trails we explored w the dogs. We had a campfire and just relaxed for 2 nights w no cares other than wAtching the stars. We'll be back!
