No running water, we will have two 5 gallon jugs of water at cabin. Sleeps up to 5 people. Has a full bed with linens provided in the bedroom. Also a full mattress, and a cot size mattress in the loft. (Bring sleeping bags or linens for these beds.) Pillows are provided. The loft is not suitable for young children. Has a battery powered shower inside and also one outside in the summer. Bathroom uses disposable compost 100% degradable bags, Should HAVE A ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4 X 4 VEHICLE, or a front wheel drive car with high clearance, or could hike up to the cabin. The rode is steep in places. Behind a locked gate. We will meet and take you to cabin. You will be given a key to use. Cabin is .8 of a mile off of Jordan Run Rd. and is around 5 miles to the entrance of forest rd 75 and 2 1/2 miles to entrance of forest rd 19. Has beautiful mountain views from above cabin (see pictures). Can see the top of dolly sods from cabin. Has a propane wall heater and wood stove for chilly nights. Fire wood is provided. You can hike or bike on roads on the property. In the winter if there was snow you could bring snowshoes and hike up to cabin and if you had skis you could ski back off to your vehicle or could cross country ski on one of the roads on the property. Cabin is 15 to 20 minutes from Seneca Rocks, Smoke Hole caverns is 8 to 10 minutes, Canaan and Timberline ski resorts are 45 to 55 minutes away. Local streams are stocked with trout. No pets, no smoking in or near the cabin. No drugs or parties allowed. There is a smoke detector, a carbon dioxide detector, and a fire extinguisher. There is bears and other animals around. This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den. There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations : Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. This property also borders Laurel Ridge State Park. There is a Dollar General and a gas station about 15 minutes away for convenience needs.

I loved this place 100% we had an amazing time with no issues. The directions were clear on how to arrive and we brought a camaro so the path was accessible. Our neighbors were so lovely but not intrusive of personal space i loved meeting them. The spot was beautiful with a beautiful view. The lake was about 2-4 feet deep but the current was super strong so floaties and life jackets are needed for young kids. Overall, it was a beautiful experience and a spot I will definitely be returning to.

Pansy and Ronnie went above and beyond to make us their largest group ever. Through a combination of tent campers and cabin dwellers we had a great July 4th here. Pansy was responsive along the way with gear questions and vehicle clarifications. We had a range of experience in our group from novice campers to backcountry veterans, and everyone was comfortable, and able to make it a good trip. We had a late night deer visitor one night. We are all spooked for a minute when we saw reflecting eyes in the trees. A great story to tell now. If you’re hiking in Dolly Sods, I think this is one of the best base camps you can ask for. The stove top worked seamlessly and as you can tell from their pics, there is a lot of cooking tools. We definitely brought more gear than we needed to. If your group is splitting up for the day, ask for a second key. They do keep things locked up at all times

Had a wonderful time at Jim’s place. 4 nights spent and would certainly come back for more. Feels very private for the most part and has a wonderful stream close by for the dogs to have fun. Also not to jinx it for the future but, we didn’t find a single tick on ourselves or the dogs… however we did find a black bear!

If you are looking for a secluded area, with a nice creek to listen to or have the kids to play in, but still want the luxuries of a toilet/shower, then this is it! Its absolutely beautiful! You can even hear the owls at night time "whoing" back and forth. The kids rode the "whitewater" on their butts from 9am until dinner time. Theres no service, so a great escape from reality to reset! We will definitly be back!

The water was fantastic; we loved watching fireflies and frogs. It’s so peaceful and private, but if you need a toilet, it’s a short walk away. You don’t want for anything, but also you are left to camp as you please.

My father tells stories of it being filled with guests all summer long! Over the years there was few upgrades and now it's in need of a facelift. Landscaping, electric upgrades and bathhouse remodels were completed Spring 2021. We will continue to renovate in phases it's been a labor of love, but you can still see the beauty of this rural location and enjoy the peace and quiet. Hope you enjoy your stay. Lots of trees, shade and nature. It's located near New Germany State Park, 1.5 miles by car, less than a mile by foot. The state park has a lake and hiking trails. Garrett County has so much to offer, waterfalls, lakes, hiking, skiing, Amish gifts, history, fresh air, beautiful scenery. The campground was first started in 1964 by my grandparents, we are currently completing renovations in phases.

There is a small stream along side the property. This tent is off the grid with running water for your sink and shower. a generator is on site for back up power if you need it. We have power banks available to charge electronics. Queen size mattress with two additional sleeping bags. T-Mobile has the best service. AT&T and US Cellular 50-80% coverage. You must bring charging cords. We have a propane instant water heater for the outdoor shower. Firewood bundles are stacked under the deck with roasting sticks. All lights are solar with a few battery operated ones. There is a grill and propane tank on site with grilling utensils, cutting board. Plates and silverware provided. We offer a cooler just bring your own ice! You will also find a 4 cup French press and water kettle. Bug spray and hand sanitizer on site! A propane heater is available upon request. Extra firewood is available @$5 per bundle. (We supply a bundle per night) We also have farm fresh eggs available $3 a dozen. You can Pay Pal @oldetymecabins or pay with cash. We are less than a 1/4 mile from Maniac Mountain Haunted House, so you will hear the chainsaws, gun shots, and screams during the Sept-Nov time. We have 160 acres of wilderness you can explore. Be cautious of wildlife and look for WARNING signs. We have a private shooting range in the bottom fields of the property so you may hear gun shots April- September. The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches. For winter months Oct-April water supply will be limited. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to the beginning of October and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail.

The rifle range was located where the current Green Acres cabin now stands, and the Trading Post was a modest room attached to the old maintenance building at the top of the hill. Tent platforms were not available during the camp's formative years, adding to the rustic charm of the experience. A significant capital fundraising campaign in 1960-1961 provided the necessary financial support to construct a winter lodge, a new rifle range, and the current dining hall, which greatly enhanced the camp's offerings starting in 1963. In recent years, the Mountaineer Area Council has benefited from the generous contributions of the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust and other partners. With a 53-acre lake at the center of a plethora of scenic goodness, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque getaway. Were talkin’ 70s woodland vibes with log cabins quaintly scattered on a wooded knoll just above the lake.
