This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Read the entire narrative on the cabin (Tiny Fern House) before booking.

This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den.
There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations :
Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. This property also borders Laurel Ridge State Park.

Before the island was protected by ALT, the island had periodic interludes of recognition and appreciation by humans as a natural refuge. In 1936, both Sycamore Island and Nine Mile Island were leased from the Pennsylvania Railroad by the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, making these islands the first bird sanctuaries in the Pittsburgh region. The Harbor Isle Boat Club was in existence on the island during the late 1960s but was later abandoned leaving behind several significant features; including a barge that remains embedded in the sand at the island’s southern tip, a partially installed swimming pool, docking platform, and a series of offshore pilings in the back channel.

Hello Campers! Our property is 2 separate locations in Preston and Taylor County! Thornton and Independence!
Both Locations offer Creek Camping and Forest Canopy within these Almost Heaven WV Mountains.
We offer multiple options and spots for Tent Campers, RV’s and more.
Our Beef Farm is 252 Acres in Thornton, WV- is circled by Sandy Creek, flowing to Tygart Lake, Kayaking is possible too! Only 15 minutes from Tygart Lake. Just Us, the Cows, Horses and Dogs! Very Isolated.
Our Historic Restaurant Building and Creekside Camping are situated on 20 acres next to Raccoon Creek and CSX Freight Railway.
Each Primitive Tent Site is Equipped with a Picnic Table, Steel Fire Pit and Porta Potty within 50 yards of Camp Site.
Mountain Forest Canopy Sites would not have these amenities.

Raccoon Creek wraps around this Beautiful Property, flows to 3-Fork Creek- a popular Trout Fishing Stream! Kayaking is possible with correct water levels. Fishing too! Creek Explorations have turned up Fossils and many Native Species Sightings!

Had a nice quiet overnight stop on my way south. The hosts were very responsive and kept in touch as I was running late. Eric came out and met me in the morning to see me off. A nice little spot to spend some time in PA if you are passing through.

Exactly what we were looking for. My wife and I tent camped at this site for just a night to see how one of our dogs would do without any distractions (other campers, traffic, etc). The spot is nice and secluded. Trails galore, tons of trails to explore the property. One of our favorites leads down to Sandy Run, a beautiful stream where you can relax in an extremely peaceful setting. The name is very accurate, the large ferns blanket large swaths of the land and it’s beautiful. Overall, absolutely fantastic spot, we will be back for sure. Jim is an excellent, accommodating and very responsive host. We enjoyed editing these photos around the fire last night.

We had a wonderful stay at this campground! The grounds were beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained. The atmosphere was welcoming, and everything was clean and organized. It was the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and spend time outdoors. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this campground to anyone looking for a great camping experience. We can’t wait to come back!

It is a lovely location and the couple who runs it are lovely as well. I had a cabin and it was very clean. The microwave was a nice plus. The fridge is a good size and includes a freezer. I was in Cabin B.

Beautiful land, very private. I woke up to cows surrounding me, it was lovely. I greatly enjoyed my stay and will love to return when its warmer to take advantage of the beautiful lake. The instructions given to reach the site were easy to follow.

We were 2 moms and 6 kids in for a rainy camp weekend. I arrived first with a car of 3 girls around 8pm dreading the thought of setting up tents. When we arrived, she greeted us and asked how many people we were and graciously offered an upgrade! She said she had a cancellation in her large cabin and that it would fit all of us! That was extremely nice of her and we were so grateful. The cabin was spacious and clean. Our kids had an amazing time and even though it rained, they had a great time swimming, playing on the water trampoline and exploring. It was exactly what we needed.

We had a great time camping at Oasis at Bear Run Farms! Ember and her husband were so nice, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The property is beautiful and peaceful, and the lake was so clear and blue, which made the whole place feel really relaxing. They also have some great farm fresh items available, like fresh milk, eggs, and firewood. We got some firewood from them for a much better price than buying it at the store, and I definitely recommend trying their fresh milk it was really good! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and the peaceful atmosphere, and we would definitely come back again. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice and relaxing camping getaway!

We had an absolute BLAST camping at the farm. We saw plenty of Bison and Liz and Jimmie were super friendly and welcoming!the pre-spit roast event was well worth the time and the drive! Best yet, we got to see a Bison field dressing and learned quite a bit. ❤️I cant recommend this place enough and we are planning on going next year!

I enjoyed my stay at the oasis! I had a tent site with my dog for 3 days without any other campers. The water was great. I got to play around on my paddleboard. My dog got to be off leash the entire time which was delightful as we live in an apt and don’t have the luxury of a yard. The outhouse/privy was well maintained. I appreciate that they sell firewood. I had a lovely time there and highly recommend staying at the oasis!
