Update for late May-June: The river level has dropped nicely, and it is officially swimming season!!! Also, the first fireflies have been spotted and within a week or two their numbers at camp in the evenings will be Biblical.
A few details about our sites in the general camping area (sites 1-11): Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10&11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6&7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Experience the beauty of this historic property featuring a mix of woodland, grassy hilltops, and clover filled bottomlands. Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. THE CAMPGROUND IS REGISTERED WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHORT TERM RENTALS LICENSE # STR25-00075. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites.
Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career.
In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples."

There is a dumpster in front of the barn for you to place your trash.

There are three campsites on the farm, one by the pond and two by the river. Very secluded and all sites include , firepit, log bench,
and a picnic table that seats 3-4 people. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE OUT FOR THE SEASON.
The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river.
Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching.

With 15,000 wooded acres, Pocomoke River State Park’s claim to fame is its stand of loblolly pine and cypress swamps bordering a wild and scenic river. It’s divided into two parts, Shad Landing (south side) and Milburn Landing (north side), which are about a 25 minute drive apart. My friends and I camped on Greg’s property, and we had a blast! The site was right to the C&O trail which provided for beautiful morning walks. Not only so, Greg was an incredible and attentive host—he swung by every day to make sure we had everything we needed, and even set up a volleyball net for us. The best part of our weekend were the camp cats that roamed around, one of them even brought us a gift!

I loved the place! Just keep in mind that sites 1 through 4 are very close to each other. My friend and I rented sites 1 and 2, and luckily the other sites were empty, so we basically had the whole area to ourselves.
There’s no river directly in front of the campsites, but if you walk about 4 minutes, you can reach the Potomac River. It’s more of a nice trail walk to the river. I didn’t really find a spot where you could fully lay down, leave your stuff, and get in the water comfortably, but the scenery was gorgeous.
The host was very kind, and I highly recommend this place. In the mornings, you can really appreciate the sounds of birds and nature.

I came for a night or two of camping. What i was greeted with, was 3 days of the best camping experiences i have ever had. The grounds were immaculate, the did was out of this world, and the centerpiece of it all, we're the staff and the locals. I was greeted with friendly faces and an atmosphere that made me feel like I was more than welcome. I wasn't treated like a "tourist", but like I was someone that had been there for years. The pride that is in this place is palpable, and it shows. I already have plans to make this place a frequent stop for a weekend getaway. Can't recommend it enough!!

My husband and I with our 3 children had so much fun staying in a mini cabin at Strawberry Crossroads. They have some goats that would visit us in the morning, which was so fun. Grateful for the cleanliness of the bathrooms/showers. Having mattresses already on the beds was also very helpful. Felt very comfortable and safe there. Great place to camp!

Beautiful property! We stayed here because we wanted to mountain bike Patapsco State Park but their Hollofield camping area was closed. This was a great option for us- 20 to 30 minutes away from the trails, very quiet and peaceful place to camp. There’s a fire pit and a picnic table. Plenty of room for our dogs to run and play. Scott and his family were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!
