Mid-June update: Firefly season is here and it looks to be another good year, although we havent seen biblical numbers like the past years yet. Soon? Under next week's full moon?? The river is at about 85% peak summer quality this week. Very warm and ready for lounging, floating or kayaking.
A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. The Indian Rail Trail, Charles County's most exciting recreational trail, is just a 7-minute drive from your tent. This paved, 13-mile-long, ten-foot-wide path is an excellent excursion for bikers of all ages, connecting the small town of Indian Head on the Potomac River to White Plains. The fairly level trail takes riders through mature forests, natural wetlands, and some farmland. During your stay, you can also take a 10-minute walk through the forest on our property to visit a serene creek.
Your campsite accommodates up to 20 people.The site also features a picnic table, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs where you can relax and stargaze at night.
Atlantic Kayak Company is a 20-minute drive from the site, offering kayak rentals and guided expeditions. For families, Sky Zone Trampoline Park is a fun activity less than a 10-minute drive from the campsite. A Walmart is conveniently located about 10 minutes away for any supplies you may need, and local produce can be obtained on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the La Plata Farmer's Market (12 min drive) between April and November.
The Road To Serenity: Our road is a quaint old country farm road made of grass and a few gravel patches here and there. It is a bit of a bumpy ride, so take it slow and easy as you make your way to our hidden getaway. There is one sharp left turn over a culvert and some dips and mild inclines, so low-sitting vehicles should definitely take it slow. here are reflectors along the way to keep you on the right path. We highly recommend arriving before dark.
Parking: Parking is on the grass meadow between the entrance to the meadow and the walking path to the campsite. Reflectors are in place to outline the parking area.
Pets: For the safety of your pets, ensure that they are treated for ticks prior to camping. Be sure to check for ticks before bringing pets into the tent.
Noises and Sounds: This property is located in a rural community, and campers may occasionally experience common city noises such as airplanes flying overhead, distant traffic, or distant firearm shots. It is a great site for city dwellers who enjoy tranquility but not complete silence.

With 15,000 wooded acres, Pocomoke River State Park’s claim to fame is its stand of loblolly pine and cypress swamps bordering a wild and scenic river. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard.

Take your canoe up to Eden Mill or Bike on the Ma & Pa and NCR trails nearby.

This was such a great trip! We had to reschedule twice for weather and it was no problem. We came on a Sunday when few folks were there and Greg upgraded us to a site right next to the path to the water. (Site 8) we enjoyed the water and being on the C&O and definitely want to bring our bikes next time. A great place to take a group - lots of space and easy hosts. Provided great campfire wood and two camp cats to hang out with!

This Hipcamp was a great stay! Firepits, hot showers, and clean toilets. Can’t get much better than that at a campsite. We stayed in the open field which still offered some privacy in our van by the treeline. It’s a quiet peaceful plot of land with great location and access to nearby beaches.

We were visiting family in Damascus, MD and Hunter’s Park hosted by Kim worked perfectly. She met us at the barn and we followed the camp host through the farm to our site. The campsite we were in was RV5. It was flat with amenities. We loved our site and highly recommend it. The camp host was fantastic, my apologies for forgetting her name already. Kim’s place was our favorite on our 5 week trip! Don’t hesitate to stay here! Great location.

This little spot is an absolute secret gem! Stunning views, direct water access, and peaceful! The property seems very well maintained, the porta potty, which was quite clean, was a definite bonus! The road is somewhat close, but I barely even noticed. Got in a few good days of paddling - a lot to explore around the creek! Amazing variety of wildlife around - Osprey, Heron, Eagles, Otters, the Bay Nettle jellies are out right now but are so amazing to watch! I even had a Cownose Ray cruise on by a few times!
This will absolutely become a yearly destination for me! I am so grateful that you've chosen to share this beautiful spot with others!

Had a great time on our maiden voyage with a new trailer. Karen was great to communicate with. We booked the Highland Hideaway. Great site, but for us wasn't a good fit, as the fire ring, etc would have been on the driver's side of our trailer - away from our door. We had the place to ourselves, so Karen allowed us to hop to the next site over - was perfect with everything on the "curb side". Great views, very peaceful and some beautiful horses.

We brought our class C RV and had a wonderful overnight stay. The free firewood was amazing and the setup at the camping area is perfect. Don't be fooled when you turn down the road, this feels so much further from everything than it is. It feels like being at a State Park campground all by yourself with plenty of room to stretch out. The pups loved watching the deer and birds.
